I don’t really mind anyone I trust speaking on my behalf with stuff like this. I’m not gong to resume read or defend myself one iota to someone as witless and feckless as that guy and those like him, and I don’t see his posts to usually know when he’s bawling about me, either.

I view his opposition to my positions as confirmation of my general correctness in whatever is being argued. The guy can’t even watch something unfold directly in front of his face and assess it with any accuracy whatsoever.

It belittles us all that he’s even vomiting his shit thoughts on this site. We’re collectively worse because he’s present. There are a few like that, but he’s one of the mouthbreathers leading their charge.

Damn, I was hoping to irritate you.

Also bologna is disgusting.

Mortadella isn’t, though, if you’re going to be a food snob. Also, if you’ve never had homemade bologna you’re missing out my good sir.

Listening to some national voices this week (also locally, Ian Boyd seems to be in this camp) on Texas, I think many of them are really missing the boat on the transfer additions. For instance, Bill Connelly has been on multiple podcasts talking about how Texas is basically starting over on both lines (which isn't true, there's multiple returners on both sides) and needs Arch to be special to justify being the best team in the country, but fails to mention that Texas brought in five quality DTs, the worst of which is probably a starter for an average P4 team, and the other four can play for anyone in the country to varying degrees. And given the amount of attention Simmons and Hill require from the offense, the DTs don't even have to be particularly special to be a problem

I think there's a chance that the Texas defense might be the best side of the ball in the country, and I suspect that Sark is looking to compliment that with an NFL-style under center/pistol early downs running/play-action offense (as opposed to an RPO shotgun early downs offense) that'll both help out the OL in the run game and help scheme WRs open into space, and then on 3rd and long you have Justin Herbert Arch Manning hero ball. Add in a high end punter, and this might be a 2021-2022 Georgia / 2023 Meat Chicken murderball squad

Just….why, dude? Why do it to yourself? Did you get bored dropping books into your testicles or something?

Boyd's playoff prediction he put out has Texas as the #8 seed and losing to Bama in the quarterfinals. I think he had three SEC teams ahead of us. That would be a very underwhelming season.

So an 8-seed implies losing to Ohio State, Georgia, and one more? That's possible, but I don't think probable

Good thing it’s Ian Boyd. That guy thinks babies are still brought to you by a stork. And he has kids. Helobious has a better track record. Helobious.

Here is a very interesting exchange with Bobby. I pulled Hutson at RT out of my ass, but maybe?

You could keep Baker at RT since that's where he's been excelling, and then Hutson at LT, which isn't ideal, but he probably won't straight up suck

Maybe Hutson-Neto-Roberson-Campbell-Baker?

More of this. We’ve got football games today, and Texas is back in a week to crush those meth heads in Ohio. Of course, maybe I’m just high as a kite since I had surgery yesterday.

Not trying to JAQ off, but does Flood tend to prefer experience more than talent, all else equal?

I have no idea about Hutson's ability to slide outside. Is he tackle-mobile?

I'd guess that it'd be that combination in some order. Could then be Baker to LT, Neto to LG, and Hutson to RT. I'd think they want experience/seniority in Columbus

I think on the road week one against arguably the best team in the country, they prefer experience if given the choice

If there is a permutation that has all 5 OL playing out of position, someone should suggest that lineup. It’s about the only one left to proffer.

Come on, think outside the box: justus terry to LT.

Saw a clickbait post on Instagram saying that OSU might have their “best OL ever” this season. Where’d that come from?

Supposedly the OL is shaping up nicely in fall camp.  Who knows if it's just blind homerism.

The same OSU OL that they were completely reshuffling about a week ago? Do people even try anymore?

I'm liking the late push of national guys picking Ohio State in this game.

We have a clear built-in advantage heading into a season opener at the most important position. I think our defense has a much simpler game plan to devise. If Sayin looks great and throws darts all over the field, I tip my cap. But it's a smart bet that we'll have a lot more juice on offense, even with the (legitimate) Goosby concerns.

In one of their recent nightly streams Gerry gave the offense, as things currently stand, basically a C grade. Next, Bobby asked Babers on his view of the offense as it is currently. Babers extolled the virtues of "leaning on the defense" instead and the phrase "complimentary football" was used about 15 times in the next 3 minutes between the three of them.

I have adjusted my expectations accordingly.

I keep going back and forth on this game:

Reasons to win

1. Arch will be better than Quin, even with less experience, imo, and brings mobility to the pocket to help with big plays and to minimize bad plays like sacks. This is huge.

2. The defense has a ton of talent, and some depth.

3. OSU has a bigger re-build than Texas.

Reasons to lose

1. OL injuires.

2. Winning in Columbus is tough.

3. A ton of talent was lost to the NFL and the new guys are a bit unproven.

4. Sometimes Sark gets too cute or too repetitive with his offensive strategy.

So basically it comes down to how much of a re-build OSU has vs Texas. If they struggle to plug their losses more than Texas does theirs, OSU will win. I'm expecting a 20-17 game. I just don't know who ends up on top.

Game 1 rust is also always a factor.  Facing Ohio State game 1 is not ideal (and vice versa).  Just a reminder of the week 1 to week 2 improvement bounce we’ve seen almost annually

I know we have that Manning kid, Wingo, Moore, endries and white Jesus, but our entire strategy this year should be to put the vast majority of our games entirely on leaning on our defense.

That’s the plan, and I predict you and I and a lot of others will end up frustrated more than a few times the extent to which that plan is employed.

I’m not feeling a shambles. Might not be perfect, but Charlie Strong routinely ran out Olines in shambles.  This isn’t that. Our guys will show the fuck up.

I don't expect our O-line to be "in shambles", even with the Goosby issue. I think designed Arch rollouts (and a few designed runs) can neutralize some of the concerns. Not have a sitting duck at QB should keep OSU from pinning their ears back on defense.

I think the mobility will be very important. I think he will try, and succeed, on throws Ewers wouldn’t. I think he has was more upside. I think it’s very questionable indeed to plan on Manning walking out there on Saturday and playing a better all around game than Ewers would. If he does, and the defense doesn’t miss the bus, Texas throttles Ohio State about like they did Michigan. Imo.

Maybe you're right, but I think opening at Ohio State has too easily dampered people's expectations for the rest of the season. The way our schedule plays out, you'd think Sark will do everything he can to get this offense humming in Games 2/3/4, when we won't have to lean on our defense. Plenty of real snaps to build confidence.

Posted

I also think that when Sark takes his long ball shots it will have a stronger impact than under Quinn. With Quinn, opponents knew there was a chance he would miss the open receiver sometimes, so they would take more chances with the safeties.

Defenses will have to respect the long ball more with Arch and that will open up running lanes and short passing opportunities. I would look for Texas to complete a 45+ yard pass in the 1st quarter, and then settle in to a steady diet of running and short pass plays.

And not a single one of them has seen one second of practice outside of stretching and simple drills for half an hour on day 1 of camp.

We have no idea what the offense can be. All we are getting is propaganda Sark wants us to get. I'm expecting quality offense until they show me on the field otherwise. The talent is there, the coaching quality is there, and the QB is there.

If her little brother had pure incest genes.

Boyd is Longhorn Skip Bayless that puts all his eggs in the schemes and analytics baskets. He picks apart Texas without knowing anything about the other teams around the country.

The Ohio St QB is a skinny kid making his first career start against the consensus #1 team. That's happened 18 times before and that first start rookie QB is 0-18 in those games. It's not a guarantee of victory, but we definitely have the advantage heading into the game.

So no one can tell if they are making it up. Easiest grift in the world to take minimal available info (new OL starters, new QB, new top wrs) and say “the offense is lagging the defense- I give them a C+” just fantastic insight that will be forgotten if we win in Columbus
