This is a game Sark needs to win. His reputation in big games is mediocre.

This has to be sarcasm.

In the last 2 years, he's won at Bama, at Michigan, won against all 3 of our biggest historical rivals, is 9-0 on the road, won a conference title, and won 2 playoff games.

What do you consider big games? Rivalry games? Playoff games? Ranked matchups? It can't only be if you lose, because if we lost to OU or Clemson or A&M last year, some people would be trying to include that in their "big game losses", so if you are going to do that, it has to count as a big game win.

That had to have been sarcasm.

Heads up for the Youtube TV crowd:

The Fox broadcast network, Fox News and other Fox owned TV stations may be pulled from YouTube TV in the coming days, as the two companies appear engaged in a carriage dispute that is bursting into public view.

Fox on Monday began warnings customers that its channels were at risk of being pulled “unless Google engages in a meaningful way soon.”

According to YouTube, the deadline for their agreement is 5 PM ET on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Downs seems to be better as an in the box safety or extra linebacker than as a ball hawk.  Am I crazy for thinking this?  I don't know that he really helps to stifle our passing attack.  In fact, I hope to see Gibson and/or Baxter run him over a few times.

I think this is a reasonable take. Not to say that Downs won't be great as a pure single high safety, but this is something scipio called out in this year's prospectus. Downs really thrived in the hybrid safety/MLB role in Knowles defense, so we don't know for sure that he'll be just as effective playing a more traditional safety role.

I would love for you to test him on this :)

1-1 against him so far.  Roasted his ass the first time.  He got a pick in garbage time against Ewers after you guys had effectively ended the game already.

Fat Roy was a hybrid safety/linebacker but instead of us exposing him in coverage he jumped over the offensive line

It doesn't make sense to me to pick the OSU secondary to attack, as that's likely to be our defensive strength.  It's true that Downs isn't a "cover corner" type of safety but he has great ball instincts and isn't often caught out of position.  Meanwhile, we have a lot less experience in the front 7, especially at DL, so (please forgive if this is obvious) I would think your game plan would be to establish the running game on our green DL, force Downs el al to come help at the LoS then let Manning beat them over the top.

Which is why if Simmons can get going or anyone but mainly him then that neutralizes klare somewhat if he has to chip or stay in. I didn’t think he was that good of blocker? One of the more important things I think we have to do. If we can shut down the middle for sayin by limiting klare and other TE’s. I’ll take our chances.

Simmons going to get a ton of attention. Hope we can bring pressure from the other side - Burke/Vasek Westlake combo needs to show out.

Sark said he expects to have Goosby this weekend.

Of course he does. That was never in doubt. He said Goosby would have gone back into the scrimmage if it were a game. Then when Goosby rested the hand last week instead of practicing the resident morons here shit their panties. Then the clueless fools who are friends in real life with the chief resident moron followed like lemmings.

Of course Goosby was going to rest the minor injury last week. There was no reason for them to push him back for practice. He'll be ready and will go through normal game week work this week. Then when Arch takes the field on Saturday, Goosby will be right there with him.

So I guess you just subscribe to some Fox sports app if this happens?

HD antenna for less than $10 is the best CFB insurance policy available. 2 years ago, YTTV kept glitching during the ou game. Tension is already at max for that game, after the 3rd or 4th time it happened, switched over and was amazed that the resolution was actuality better.

Bobby had a player from the 80s on last week that does football commentary in Spanish. He's watched a couple of practices this month and said what stood out the most to him was Burke looked borderline unblockable. Wasn't expecting that, but maybe this is when he puts it all together.

They played him all over the place, and he was good all over the place. On our first drive alone, he plays "big nickel", tampa two inside linebacker, overhang, and deep safety in a two safety shell

At the time, it was a marquee early-season game and was considered a "big" game.

They were the defending national champs.

(barber in Coming to America voice) They beat Ohio State's ass!

We're going to have him at tackle with Justus Terry in the nascar package. With Simmons and Spence coming off the EDGE. Against the other three Sept opponents, it may be uncomfortable to watch. (not really, it will be awesome)

The whole "he played at a small school so he won't be any good" nonsense is comical. I forgot Colt played at Westlake. Derp. Retards echoing Retards with that shit. Aggie are the masters at it, and now the tards of the Midwest are in on it.

Any news on YouTube doing day passes like Sling? I’d be all over that for the quad screen.

"Big game" = any game we lose

Sark hasn't won a single game that we lost.

Unacceptable. Fire him now.

The quiet part never gets said out loud on these national preview shows. fOSU is replacing both coordinators with a brand new OC and a reclamation project at DC.

I assume Day is the de facto playcaller? Hartline is career position coach. Not buying the OC title. I get why they did it, but he’s not calling plays.

Knowles almost certainly hates Day. Knowles is a career coordinator, and fOSU would have certainly matched. Knowles to Penn State in the equivalent of PK leaving for OU.

Patricia was politely asked the leave the NFL. I’d say Lions fans think he’s washed, and I’d say fOSU could probably do better. I wonder if Day’s drama queen bullshit after the Michigan loss scared away better candidates?

What does "politely asked to leave the NFL" mean?

Wasn't the reason for Knowles' departure due to disagreement with the DL coach or something?

Yep. Most coaches aspire to move up to the NFL and then bounce around within the league. He was basically forced into going back to the college level or be unemployed

Both are certainly downgrades, but I'm not sure anyone swapping jobs would be an upgrade from Kelly or Knowles.

He didn’t get another DC job after the Lions canned him. This is pretty unusual. Hell Brian Flores is actively suing multiple NFL teams and he still got a NFL DC job. Looks like Patricia was a film bitch from 2020-2023, and jobless in 2024.

Think I'll do exactly this.

Beats going to the in laws last second to use their cable

Flores was actually relatively successful in Miami and is now arguably the best DC in the NFL

I'm really looking forward to this. He was so solid last year but just gets overshadowed by the AA's on the Defense. A senior DE with tons of big plays already heading into his last year? We have a history of these guys turning into all-conference players and low to mid-round draft picks. He's up.

Was he the guy who transferred in from Montana? I think he was a kicker and a coach or someone talked him into trying out for the team and he made it.
