I know you’re probably not wrong but I keep looking at Trump beating Hillary by only 9 points in Texas and she was “the worst candidate” ever.

that’s only 800k vote separation.

Plus Gary Johnson and Jill Stein accounted for 4% together (350k votes).

The polls leading up to that election were all over the place from Trump being up by 3 to 14 in October.

I’m just saying Beto is no Hillary and Cruz is no Trump when it comes to campaigning.

An upset would not surprise me.

Beto voters seem like they’ll turn out.  That does give me some hope.

Phonebank went well. Had 10 people, including 3 I had never met before that found out about it from the campaign. That you can have 10 people turn out in Alexandria, VA for a guy running in Texas has to be a good sign. Most had never phonebanked before.

Were talking to some friends that own a coffee shop and a co-working space about doing some bigger events leading up to election day.

Feels good. I think Beto's made some progress this week.

How'd the townhall go?

glad that Beto got a lot of the "Ted Cruz says your an Irish gun grabbing freedom hater" questions so he could go a bit longer form.  he looked anxious at the very start but 5 seconds in it just turned into any of the other thousand town halls he's done.  I get that it's bad strategy for Cruz to have people look at him and listen to him speak, but seems like that could only be good for Beto to have had an opportunity for a bunch of people to see him do what he does outside of being at a town hall or watching him livestream one on facebook.

I know Ted Cruz is an extremely goofy looking and unlikable motherfucker but I like to know how giving Beto a national townhall a good idea.

Because a GOP consultant to the Cruz re-election campaign said so.

Truthfully, keeping Cruz out of the public eye is probably a good idea.  Risk/reward.

Trump only won by 9 and the Dems spent zero dollars in Texas. Beto is poised to surprise skeptics in a couple of weeks.

Just now watching Beto's "debate" after watching Trump's "whatever the fuck that was".  Its amazing the difference in coherence between the two.  They are like 540° apart.

Normally politicians weave red meat into their speeches but Trump just throws out everything else and dishes out pure red meat. It doesn't need to be coherent, just toss out phrases and just play off the crowd. Its actually pretty efficient.

His political speeches follow the Kevin Malone method.

Did Ted Cruz write these questions?

Are you for Open Borders?

What’s the deal with your weird first name?

Most of these questioners seem like Cruz plants except the last one. Beto is doing well with them, but they are a waste of time.

Maybe. Then again, good answers to these questions could help sway undecided voters or even the rare Cruz lean. Keep in mind that Pinocchio isn't there for a rebuttal.

The Cruz campaign already screwed up in turning a debate into a nationally televised town hall. If they did plant any of these questions, then they are even bigger idiots than I thought.

It seems like the Cruz campaign is up by 6 points with 11 minutes left in the 4th and they decided to run a prevent defense.

I think Beto has a badass 2 minute drill ready and wants the ball last. Just keep pounding away at the sidelines.

Managed to get my first call from the Beto campaign (I believe I have missed quite a few that I let go to voicemail).  The questions were the usual (are you voting, do you know where to early vote, do you need help with anything such as transportation, etc.).

The questions were very efficient, and dual-purpose, both to help folks who have questions about voting, and they also serve as some internal polling.

I didn’t bother signing up with any GOP stuff this go-round, so I have no idea how they are doing as far as phonebanking, etc., but I haven’t seen any Cruz supporters knocking on doors in my area.

Just watched the town hall and imho Beto pretty well crushed it. There was an uncomfortable moment when he kept trying to take a drink of water while listening to Dana's question. Waiting for that gif to hit the interwebs. He has that nervous pace with his speech, but he calmed down as it went.

Cruz made a huge mistake not being there. Beto was able to call him on his BS without rebuttal. C'mon, TED. That was an hour long Beto ad. I'm curious what the in-state ratings were.

Ted Cruz has such a horrible voting record and is so unlikable that anyone who votes for him is strictly in the "will never vote D because my pappy says they evil" category. If Beto can't beat him then Texas isn't anywhere close to turning on the party that celebrates the Sheriff of Nottingham's entire catalog.

Watching the townhall this morning. This is Beto at his best in his best format. Really a gift from Cruz. The last week or so has really shifted the narrative back. Looking ahead, I think the Trump rally will be a net negative for Cruz reminding everyone why he's disliked, and Beto's GOTV has to make a difference. I'm gonna stay optimistic.

Per my uncle, voting for Cruz keeps him in those senior committee appointments and gives him more power...So Beto throwing the “Junior Senator” label around is probably strategic to deflate the Senate seniority talking point.

The “Senior committee appointments” argument should hold no water when talking about Cruz.   While it seems like we’ve been stuck with Ted forever, he’s only finishing up his first term.    Besides if Beto won, I would guess Schumer would put Beto on high profile committees given Betos potential for massive fund raising for others?

and if Cruz has actually done something for Texas directly while in his powerful roles, I don’t think we’ve heard about it yet.

Now you may not be able to walk into the senate and lead a committee in year 1 but Cruz is nowhere near those roles either.

Beto asking for another 1.6mm from supporters to offset a new super PAC media buy for Cruz.    I guess they feel these emails either get Beto supporters or Ted haters (why not both) to throw money at them. Competitive spirit.

I was listening to a recent Texas Tribune podcast and they talked about how Beto might be spending his campaign contributions.  They spend some time talking that he's having to build a GOTV effort across the state because the Dem Party has zero resources statewide.  I'm still uncertain about what is costing money.  Are they hiring people to organize?  are the relying on volunteers to lead the effort?    I understand that campaign pamphlets, central offices, etc. aren't free but do they cost $30mm?  Just curious about what exactly a campaign buys outside of media buys.

I've been rocking my Beto t-shirt in London last week and in Paris this week and getting a lot of comments.  It's amazing the number of people from outside Texas who know about Beto and who are supporting him.  It's also amazing the number of Texans who are overseas this time of year.  I had probably a dozen Texans stop me just to talk about how eager they are to vote for Beto next month.

Cost of living + good jobs/salaries + no state tax = disposable income for cool things (has always been my take on why it's cool to live in Texas)

No, just word association for dummies.

Beto -> Democrat, Democrat -> Socialism, Socialism -> Venezuela, Therefore... Beto -> Venezuela

Thought he was implying something about Brown people, like they can't be trusted because they ruin governments or something.
