My favorite part was Sark saying he is smarting than analytics.

he said he was more aggressive than what the book says but "that's who we are" we are aggressive and we are going for it

i think this was in response to a question about not taking points

If I'm Arch, I watch the Miss St game from last year a few times. After that, he can sit cross-legged and meditate while burning incense, or hell, hashish. Maybe do it with McConaughey and play the bongos naked afterwards, IDGAF.

Anything to get his mind right.

First, Texas should never have a rebuilding year.  We're Texas.

Second, in the age of the portal, there is zero excuse for a rebuild-year.  Texas can go pluck almost any player at almost any position they need if they feel they are too young, too inexperienced, or too injured.  If we have a rebuilding year, that is 100% on Sark and his coaching staff.

Either:

  • Arch balled out in the Spring/Fall camps and Sark didn't anticipate that he confidence would get shot by a bad game vs. OSU - in which case it's Sark's fault for not contingency planning, or
  • Arch truly sucks because he can't handle the pressure of being the guy or didn't play strong HS competition - in which case it's Sark's fault for mis-evaluating

Coaching is a zero sum game. You're either a winner or a loser.  Right now Sark is 2-1, so great for him but we can all see where this season is going: 9-3 is our ceiling.  7-5 or 6-6 is more likely, with losses to OU, A&M, and Georgia.  Texas has the #2 team talent composite rating in the nation.  You can't go 7-5 with that. Even 9-3 is embarrassing barring major injuries.

Only Alabama under Saban did not have rebuild years. So I am going to disagree with First. The rest ok. Arch is struggling so are some of the lineman. Sark needs to adjust as to what reality is  and make this a winner.  I would be perfectly fine if Arch never threw a pass under 5 yards. so far he has shown he can't do it consistently. So do the things he does well.

Somebody recommended wearing a garter belt in another thread. Why not? It couldn't hurt at this point.

Are you familiar with the history of this program over, say, the past 50 years?

@Horn of Gabriel is saying it shouldn't happen NOW with NIL and the no-penalty transfer portal.

Big difference versus even 5 years ago

💯

Since pay-for-play (a.k.a. “NIL”) has become legal, everything has changed.

…as DFW Horn clearly stated.

Once Saban got to Alabama, only Ohio State (maybe) was doling out as much cash as Alabama in an era before NIL.

By the time Georgia caught up and then surpassed Alabama, Saban had a track record of putting several players into the league each year.

LSU & Clemson had spurts of going all-in, but now that NIL is legal, even those schools shouldn’t be able to reload like Texas.

We need new eyes on QB development and OL development and probably a play-calling OC. Sark is still designing good plays, but in-game play-calling continues to be a weakness of his.

But we shouldn’t ever point to talent acquisition as an issue.

wtf is wrong with this team everyone’s injured since the first day of contact.  Mosley phantom injury can’t walk. Jonah pulled his hammy 3 years ago. Baxter takes one hand off. Hammy   Wisner injured since August

Danny AAS: accuracy quality taking a dip with arch.

Sark: Arch had a good practice this morning, what happens is you focus on yourself think of yourself etc. Lets not self inflict wounds on ourselves lets take it out on them, lets go after them and not after ourselves Shift the frustration to them over there. He came back today with the energy that he's accustomed to. He's going to right the ship quickly and thats a testament to his team around him.

I guess we'll see, but yips show up in pressure/stress situations, so games, not practice. Maybe SHSU is so bad Arch can manage it.  Still won't really know until conference games start.

he volunteered we had to run arch more and that is now part of our offense

rpo is fine by me

just move the fucking ball down the field and score

i'm sure everyone has seen "SEC Storied: Wishbone"

1985 switzer had installed i-formation for aikman

game 4 miami broke his ankle and 0u switched back to the wishbone w/ jamelle holieway

0u lost the game but won the next 8 and the title

0u passing yards those 8 games:

isu: 101

ku: 101

mizzou: 157

colorado: 39

corn: 38

oSu: 54

smu: 40

pedder: 91

OU played someone in fall of ‘86, maybe a tune-up opponent, where they ran every play.  Attempted zero passes.

That must have been a fast game.  Maybe 2.5 hours max?

Anyone calling for an offensive focus on “running the ball” better take a good look at the underperformance of our offensive line in the running game.  This offense has problems well beyond a QB w/ a confidence problem.

Sark has always acknowledged the obvious things that everyone sees in his press conferences. This year he's trying to "win" the press conference like some weak ass Mack Brown bullshit.
