They throttled us.  Eck has been tossed around, but I think most teams want to see more than one season out of him

Times have changed then. Used to be a 9-3 G5 season had you at the top of the carousel board. Now it’s splashy names and bigger NIL budgets

Is anyone after New Mexico's coach?  Because I can't fathom how someone could pull 9-3 out of that program.

Eck is really really good. Got to see him up close and personal at idaho. Whatever p4 he eventually ends up at will be lucky to have him. Dude just wins.

General thought here (I live in PA) is Penn State succumbs to fan pressure and gives Terry the job.

Because he managed to beat 3-8 msu and 7-5 Nebraska with top 5 talent. What an accomplishment.

His entire college coaching career is 1 year as a WR coach at temple and 12 years as a CB coach at Penn state. Supposedly he’s still being mentored by Franklin over the phone since he left.

The closest thing to a case for him is that the players like him and he managed to revive the run game against the 70th & 100th ranked run defenses.

The main thing that has the hillbillies clamoring for him is the Joe 409 button he wore last week, validating their delusion that it’s ok to still lionize him. That alone should disqualify him even if he wasn’t already completely unqualified for the job.

I don’t think Kraft is that dumb.

Latest random rumor.  Shit just gets stupid

Riley is in play at other top jobs (PSU, UF) and USC will let him walk with no buyout because it has DeBoer lined up if Riley jumps.

I'm totally fine with that.  Stanford needs to build a brand.

I remember him well as a player.  No clue what kind of coach he may be.

Lane will have big options in the future. He should stay this year for the playoff run. They have a good chance to pull it off. They’ve also proved he can win there, LSU seems like a total train wreck.

Why would DeBoer leave Bama for USC? That makes no sense at all. He's not a West Coast guy.

Lane's waiting to see if he's coaching in the sec championship or not.

I'd tell him afterwards to go on and go. Let that young oc steer the ship, fuck it. Save a shit ton $$$ to put towards NIL, Lane will flame out at lsu.

True, but he's originally from South Dakota

What does his hometown have to do with his ability to coach at usc? He killed it at Washington. Sark is from California and not from Texas.

I'm not questioning his ability to coach at USC or anywhere else.

USC isn't an upgrade over Bama based on recent history, and he doesn't seem like the LA type. That's all

You think it would be funny to punish the blood sweat and pain of the Ole Miss players because their head coach took another coaching job.

That's certainly a take.

It would be awesome especially if we took their spot.

So he's a Tuscaloosa kinda guy who took a job in Washington?

That makes no sense at all.

Well, we differ in that I think earning a spot is preferable to getting grifted one as punishment to players for the choices of a coach. But I'm all ethical and shit so the fuck do I know.

Nothing personal, don’t know shit. This is big time college football, ethics are for losers.

Whatever

Coaches don't usually leave blueblood jobs for other jobs, including other bluebloods. Who was the last coach to leave Bama willingly for another job?

Going from UW to Bama is a step up. Going from Bama to USC is a lateral, at best, which only makes sense for somebody who wants to be in SoCal. FWIW, I thought it was stupid for Riley to make that move from OU.

More pay, less toxic fan base with other wordly expectations that are from a bygone era, weather, good food, a happy wife, and many other reasons.

Bama wasn't a top destination before Saban. He was there so long people forget they were pretty much an also ran for a long time. Their fans expect Saban results and anything less is a failure. My point is I could see someone getting there and being "Oh shit this is a mess". Remember the fans wanted him fired earlier this year and multiple times last year. So.. it's not that USC is that great of a place just that I can see an HC thinking "Fuck all this" about Bama.

There are several Bama fans around here and I'm curious about their take.

He'd have to make a helluva lot more in LA than Tuscaloosa, but I'm sure USC can afford DeBoer if they really want him.

Well, if, by god, Bama loses tonight the broader fan base will definitely be calling for his head so hopefully it works out for all of "us".
