Curry left Bama for UK, though nary a tear was shed over that. Perkins left for the nfl and one left for A&M.

Franchione was the one I was thinking of. I forgot about Curry.

Well, if, by god, Bama loses tonight the broader fan base will definitely be calling for his head so hopefully it works out for all of "us".

Bama is not losing this game.

He'd have to make a helluva lot more in LA than Tuscaloosa, but I'm sure USC can afford DeBoer if they really want him.

Cost of living in L.A. is higher; of this there is no debate.

So is the quality of life.

I'm not questioning his ability to coach at USC or anywhere else.

USC isn't an upgrade over Bama based on recent history, and he doesn't seem like the LA type. That's all

It might be a number of things or nothing.

If it turns out to be something, it could be he and/or the staff he relies on don't really care for living in Tuscaloosa and would prefer someone more better.

Cowherd brought up a good point.  If you made 500k (think linebacker coach) you could get a mansion almost anywhere.   In California, you can still get a nice house on that salary but not dream house

a nice house in L.A. is better than a "mansion" in Starkville.

Time for Ole Miss to play 4D chess and talk to Miss Terry about borrowing her husband for the holidays.

Something like $2M for every playoff win should do the trick while the godfather cleans up the mess left by his minion.

(Bah gawd, that’s Vince McMahon’s music… which is about what this sport has devolved into these days anyway).

He’s going to poach them anyway. What a cunt.

Nono, if Ole Miss lets him stay through the playoffs, he won't actively try to pull players and other coaching staff with him to LSU.  Sure, they might choose to follow him out of loyalty and adoration, but that's completely different from coaching.

Goes from being fired on the tarmac to highest paid coach in the history of the footsballs without ever winning a god damn thing of importance.

What a country.

Why would DeBoer leave Bama for USC? That makes no sense at all. He's not a West Coast guy.

He was at Fresno before UW so he has spent a few years in the west coast.  His daughter still plays softball at UW.

The former AD at UW who hired him is now the AD at USC.

His player personnel (or some such title), Courtney Morgan, is an LA native so they probably think the recruiting pipeline at SC is easier to tap than Bama’s.

The bigger question to me is, who would really want Reilly?  I can’t see a UF, PSU, etc. I guess I could see a 2nd tier Texas school like Baylor or TCU.

If true, he really is a massive douchebag and I can't wait till he gets fired for flaming out at LSU.

That's just insane.  In the real world, if you come to the office, resign and say you are going to work for a direct competitor, you are escorted out of the building right then with all access cut off.

What a bunch of shit that is.  If I'm OM, I tell him to fuck off and get out of town.  It's not like they can stop him from trying to poach players and coaches in any event, but to reward this type of hostage taking behavior is just wrong.  Man, I'm hoping he sucks it up at LSU.

What a strong and bold take there Mr Bennett. You should become a professional gambler.

Reverse jinx. Almost worked.

And really, there's no need to get snippy about a game between two teams in Alabama of all places.

I wasn't getting snippy dude. I found it humorous that you "predicted" with such confidence that Bama would defeat Auburn. Auburn always finds a way to keep that game close then snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Last night it was a refusal by Auburn players to hold on to the ball. Perhaps they are sponsored by a KY Jelly or Vaseline, dunno but it was definitely a very War Eagle type of problem.

Good info, thanks.

Saban basically told us why Kiffin is going to LSU on Game Day. No surprise - it's recruiting HS talent vs having to depend on the portal every year. He'd rather have a more convenient pipeline to develop and just fill in holes on the LSU roster as needed.

Better recruiting + $12MM per year is hard to turn down.

Isn’t getting a legit shot at a NC more important than not rewarding hostage taking behavior?  Because they aren’t winning one if he isn’t allowed to coach.  And more than likely this is their best shot for the next 20 years.

If I was a player for Ole Miss I would walk to the Chancellor’s house and tell him that Kiffin should not be allowed to coach if he is taking the LSU job. And I would use colorful language and I would urge the team to vote against playing for him. Fuck him. This is a huge cunt move. I want players to start revolting against this shit.

I’m no Ole Miss fan but, these coaches are complete assholes. Fuck them.

Newsflash!   Housing is more expensive in places that are great places to live.

Yeah, that's not a plus for KdB.  Those two didn't have a great relationship in Seattle.
