I came in here to tell you pussy ass bitches what time it is. Stop playing with your sandy vaginas and belly up you cowards.

Texas might just beat MSU by 6 TDs and all you sad little girls will be all, yeah man I called it.

Texas might squeak out another mind bendingly bad one cause of our D.

Texas could end up losing.

What I'm getting at is, I know I don't have a clue WTF is gonna happen, but I ain't crying about it.

I think we're going to play Vanderbilt a lot better than some expect.  NOT having to travel 1000+ miles, as the team did against tOSU, Florida, and Kentucky, is going to make a difference.

Pre-season everyone talked about the massive amount of travel this team would face and sort of shrugged it off.  That was silly.  It absolutely makes a difference.

It does for some teams, I think it's a cultural thing.

I do know a lot of the guys are a lot more sensitive to the optics right now than usual. I think that plays a lot into their overall confidence and comfort level when traveling.

Some of these guys have built up enough reputation and good will that they are sort of immune to it, a lot of the offense doesn't have that privilege.

Night game with a top 10 team would be great.

That would be good. An 11am game the morning after Halloween would suck.

That's the optmist case for Sark isn't a complete moron and hasn't forgotten how to coordinate offense. I'm not saying I believe it, but we have what 2 guys back that played much last year- 1 of whom (trey) hasn't played much this year. But yeah, I sure wouldn't want to rest on this hope.

Georgia, on the other hand...

It was a culture win for the defense.  They basically played with special teams and thats it lol.

Special teams and the D kept us in last week's game, simple as that.  You could almost count the blou win IMO as well.  Sooner or later one of these two isn't gonna show up.  When that happens, it will be sad day on the 40.  I'd expect another low scoring affair and a disappointed ride home from Starkville.  One thing is for sure though, the games ahead will not get any easier.  I venture to say that "all the white meat is gone and nothing left but the backs and necks."

The defense also gave up 400 yards of offense, 26 first downs and an 80% completion rate to a RS Freshman QB and an offense not even in the top 100. The Texas defense was on the field for 40+ minutes because they couldn't ever get a 3 & out. It also put the offense in bad starting position multiple times making things even worse for an offense that already sucks.

That was not a culture win for the defense. The SEC Roll Call video explains exactly why KY lost, not why Texas won. The Texas D went 100% in on KY running it right into the strength of the D. Anything else Texas loses that game, and KY scores 20+ in regulation if they had a coach with a brain. Thankfully Texas was playing the dumbest Stoops that's ever lived.

You can’t just casually look at the total yardage stats a judge a defense. There is far more context to it. The defense held KY to 7-18 on third downs and 1-3 on fourth downs. Getting off the field wasn’t a problem until very late in the game where fatigue and pressure started to mount. The problem wasn’t getting OFF the field. The problem was constantly having the get back on the field because our offense literally couldn’t do anything in the second half. That shit wears on you as a defender. We held KY to zero points until 4:15 left in Q3 and out of the EZ until 12:04 left in the game. That should be more than enough to have KY buried by 2-3 scores at that point in the game. They did plenty to win the game.

KY also recovered all two of their muffs and three of their own fumbles. That kind of luck is unheard of. Maybe they can work on falling in the football batter, but that’s an easy fix.

Lastly, I don’t actually think we have an “elite” defensive roster this year. I think they’re very good but the DTs are a downgrade from what we’ve had 2022-2024. They played well enough with the talent they have. They did more than enough to put us in a position to win on Saturday night and did make the plays that actually won us the game. It’s a damn shame they’re paired with a 2014/2017 levels of incompetence on offense.

I think there is something to be said for this observation. Take a look at other teams who started the season highly ranked, lost an early game, and then just imploded once their bubble was burst (Clemson, Penn State, FSU). This team still seems like it is battling, even if on one unit the battle is primarily against ourselves. At some point that may give out, but some credit is due to the players for playing hard this long. A team that has quit doesn’t make that goal line stand in OT last week.

Defense needs to get a little better falling on fumbles.  Needs to tighten up at end of half.  But talking about these things seems kind of nitpicky compared to the problems on offense.  Defense is still a championship quality unit, and season would have much different outlook with even average offense.

One of the fumbles the D looked to be celebrating the act of creating the fumble va falling on it.

It would say TBD or list the various windows it could fall in if the game wasn't already confirmed for 11.  Our graphic would look like the last 2 in the picture with multiple times/channel options that would be finalized next week

The reason the * says time AND network is because of South Carolina/Ole Miss and OU/Tenn having multiple options

good lord people the game time windows are announced ahead of the season for the SEC.  Vandy was announced as an 11:00am game back in the summer and that won't be changing.

The entropy of college football has returned this year after a long hiatus under the Alabama, OSU, Georgia dynasties of hoarding talent an no one else can match. That is a good thing! Wish we were able to take advantage of it with all the paper talent we had this year, but it appears our OL, QB, and WRs have not lived up to potential.

I could see the rest of the season being somewhere between a butt clench and a beating, but, hey, Georgia barely escaped Kentucky last year and ended up winning the conference. Maybe we decide to play OU-level football the rest of the way and surprise. One can dream....

Either way, I'll hope we develop a winning game plan against the mississippi aggies, warts and all. I won't miss being in Starkville, which, broadly speaking, sucks as a place to be in. Keep the dream alive for one more week and hope some faustian bargain made by Flood turns the OL into an actual deterrent for defensive rushers, and maybe Arch really just needs 8 games to settle down and hit his receivers.

I assume they want 3 big name teams/games for the whole "all day SEC" lineup.  Our game, leading into Georgia/Florida(yes it's lost luster but still a big rivalry) into a good matchup with Sooners/Vols.

I understand Sark's theorteical approach. If the D is playing run heavy, and receivers are single covered (or wide open), that is what you attack. You take what the D gives you. Hitting open receivers will open up the running game.

Well, we now have a wealth of evidence that Arch cannot consistently hit open receivers. Some games, even attempting a pass with Arch looks to be completely off the table. If Sark wants to execute his philosophy, he needs to change QBs. We all know he won't. So, we need to craft a running scheme our clownshow o-line can at least partially execute. I don't think this will happen either.

We are in full prayer mode. Hoping against hope, that this is the week Arch can consistently hit wide open receivers. Until then, the D and special teams need to keep working miracles against some pretty damn good teams.

Not mentioned so I take that as good news. We’ll see when the injury reports come out tomorrow night. He certainly didn’t carry a heavy load against UK.

Will be watching MSU’s report to see about their big RB, Bothwell. Lebby said he was day to day after missing the UF game, and is the kind of RB that gives the middle of our defense problems.

I think it's interesting that we got OU (Venables), Kentucky (Stoops - both of the "special" ones) and now MSU (Lebby) three weeks in a row. All of them are Bob Stoops era OU dick munching buddies. With a side order of Art Briles rape cover up nepotism thrown in for good measure. If you don't think all those fuckheads (including Bob, too) are not co-authoring a how to beat Texas dossier, I don't know what to tell you.

I think this game is going to be tough regardless because apparently even if we tried to shoot ourselves in the dick we would probably miss, but I promise you Lebby is going to have more insight and inside information on Texas than probably any other team we play this year.

This is such a ridiculous post.  The defense was on the field for 40+ minutes and 86 plays because our offense was going 3 and out constantly. Of course the raw yardage number will be high. Kentucky ran a shitload of plays because our offense kept giving them the ball. We held Kentucky to 4.6 yards per play, which is an elite number, especially considering how many plays they had to be on the field. The fact that our defense didn't get gassed and start to fall apart by the end of the game was absolutely incredible. This was 100% a culture win for the defense.

And this is one week after the defense held OU to 6 points and created 3 TOs.  UT has a top 3 defense in the country by almost every metric. This unit is absolutely elite. Anyone who's doing anything other than praising our defense for winning us the last two games has no clue what they're talking about.

You made my point right there. The defense has only been elite 1 time this year, and Mateer helped them. The defense had what could be called 7 culture wins last year. And I don't think holding KY to 7/18 on 3rd down is very good against an offense that's not even in the top 100. And they were bad vs FL. The defense simply should have been better vs the #107 ranked offense. And they let KY get in FG range in 51 seconds.
