2 things can be true at the same time, as hard as it is for lots of people to understand that concept many a time. Here’s mine as it relates to this team: 1) Steve Sark is a good coach that I like, respect and root for; and 2) If he wants to go to the NFL I will happily pack his bags for him and drive him to the airport.
we’ve had much worse coaches. Hell, most of the head coaches at Texas have been worse. Texas, in an era where you pay players and we have the biggest swinging wick out there should be a pretty easy job. But, it’s not a job that you can do well with half measures. If Sark wants an NFL job he needs to do that totally and completely and I hope he gets one bc I don’t want him here with one foot in and one foot out.
If he doesn’t, he needs to completely and totally rededicate himself to getting it right. I will happily keep PK, Nansen and the stripper/monkey owner. Everyone else can probably GTFO. Actually, Milwae might be fine to stay at QB coach and confidant on offense for sark. Whatever. I’m indifferent toward that. Flood with his “large humans” schtick?  GTFO. Akina wrecking the back end?  The game had passed him by in 2013 to say nothing of 2025. RB and WR are newish but their rooms are both steaming piles of shit. Bye bye to you too.
Teams that I know have better coaches than Sark: Ohio State, Indiana, Domers, Georgia, Bama (but I don’t think he’s long for there- right guy for right place matters), Fox Noon Big Game Day show analyst.
teams that I suspect might: Aggy (don’t want for Texas but he’s a good coach), Ole Miss.

Can Sark win a national title here? Sure. We were 1st and goal from the 5 away from OT with 3 minutes left against the national champs last year. The year before we were first and goal from the 9 away from the championship game. Will he?  Not if he isn’t fully committed and locked in.
Go beat arky and Aggy and hope that OU, Domers, Ole Miss, Michigan, BYU, Vandy, Bama, Utah and USC lose. Does it matter though?
Beat arky and Aggy bc it’s fun in and of itself

to go 3-0 against your rivals, I guess.

Sure. Does it even matter though?  I mean, kind of but not really.

Agree with just about all of this. He is a good coach who has earned more time to turn things around, but has some consistent flaws that he needs to self-assess and correct. If he wants to go pro, then I won’t think twice about it. I hope he figures things out.

Same.

He put himself in a hell of a spot this off-season with some of his decisions.

I recognize the fallacy of "who is better to replace him," but we don't have a great hiring record.

I’m done with sark, he is not capable unless he unfucks this program by hiring a OC. Until he does that or leaves I’m not going all in again. too much life out there waiting for me.

Best weather of the year is late fall in Austin. Yall enjoy the shit fest, I’ll watch with one eye while cruising the waters of one of our fine lakes or sitting on a patio sipping on an adult beverage, enjoying maybe oysters and romancing my woman, probably head down to the coast enjoy the tailing reds with a rod in my hand to  pre-celebrate the gratitude holiday of Thanksgiving.

Texas - who gives a fuck

arky - who gives a fuck

sark needs to make a change either hire an OC or GTFO.

Sark cannot win the big game. Having a bye week and then mustering that shitastic performance vs GA is the final nail in that proof. 2 losses to OSU, 3 losses to GA etc etc

I root for him but this is a team full of JAGs and seemingly minimal to no player development or growth. One of the most heavily penalized teams in NCAA and a team strength (defense) that has now turned into a weakness. Giving up 30+ points the past three games is not a blueprint for success.

Zero running game due to a terrible OL play and a TE group that is afraid of blocking.

Meanwhile aggy, tech and ou are all going to be in the playoffs while Texas will be in the Texas Bowl.

Season is for all intents and purposes over and Texas has ceded a ton of recruiting momentum to in state rivals. Feels like team is in as bad a spot as when Sark first got here and this is year 5. The year when it is all of his guys, that team should be at peak. Instead they just got shit on by GA on national TV and then had Kirby drag his nuts over Sark's face during his post game press conference.

Texas needs to unfuck itself the next two weeks otherwise it is going to be some dark days ahead.

Time to clean house on the staff if Sark does stay. Current set of coaches not getting it done.

The answer is no, and the two examples you gave to support your argument actually defeat your argument.

I’ll be thoroughly surprised if half of surly is around by December, since it seems most of y’all are going to commit suicide bc of a football team, or just die of repressed rage over what 18-22 year olds do on a Saturday

This just isn't true.

That said, what an embarrassment last night.

Get our shit together, beat a rival in a really awful season for them, and advance to the Showdown.

Taylen Green is legit good and would be a superstar with a competent roster. But Arkie’s explosiveness isn’t designed to beat a defensive team like Texas and it’s at home. I’d take y’all at something like 30-24 with one Arkie score coming after the game is knitted up.

Defensive team like us?  The same defense that’s given up 42 points in the last 2 4th qtrs.

any team at an FCS level is designed to beat this defense.  When our dog shit dbs line up 14 yards off the ball and couldn’t cover shit anywhere. Arkansas qb will have a career day against us.  He will have enough tape for nfl scouts to draft him

14 through 3 against UGA and had them stuck in the mud and the kick got the defense just demporalized. Texas’ biggest problem on defense is an inability to sustain drives on offense. Should—should—be able to do that on Arkie.

Nope, I think we finish with 3 losses. They will circle the wagons. UGA is just a top 3 team, them or OSU is probably gonna win it all. We werent good enough to compete with those teams, but we re good enough to compete with everyone else.

2:30 kick on ABC

Arkansas is terrible, we should beat them convincingly which means we won't because we can't beat anyone convincingly right now. This will be another struggle where another sub .500 team finds a way to have their best game of the season. Arkansas gave up 235 rushing yard to LSU yesterday, 230 to Auburn, 217 to aggy, 264 to Tennessee, I could keep going but maybe we could try running the ball against them? Silly notion by me but maybe that could help make beating them a little easier.

Sark looks at those stats and starts scheming deep throws while mumbling :

I meant in the theoretical sense. If you get that close anything can happen. But yeah- I get your point.

Other challenge is secondary plays 10 yds off every receiver allowing easy pitches and catches to happen all game.

Sark seems like a good guy. He's great with media.  He comes up with some cool plays, but not really an offense.   I hoped things would work out for him here, but figured they wouldn't.  Oh well, on to the next dude in a year or two.

We go 1-1 to finish out the season and play in some shit bowl no ones cares about.

Yeah I don't know that there's anything sark can do to redeem himself here. He hasn't show he is capable enough to continuously improve. He's coasting in an era where you can't coast because the parity and transfer portal are real.

The next coach will be a CDC involved hire and won't come with all the warts.

CDC didnt have input in Sark's hiring? that's odd

Run the ball against a defense that constantly gives up tons of rushing yards?

Those two MAGA chuds literally hired a head coach by drinking scotch the night before watching an OC with Bama talent thinking they did a thing.

Didn't CDC want to hire Franklin, but was overruled by the money? Eltife and his cronies?

I no longer care what we did last year. It is not the same team. It’s not even the same sark as last year. All bets are off as to our last two games. Praying we crush Arky and Aggie but if we don’t it’s on Sark. At least there are no more bye weeks for us to suck coming out of anymore. Hook’em! 🤘🏼 now with the pressure off we can win our last two regular season games and Sark can politic all he wants about how we belong in the playoffs but we just proved last night we do not.

Probably correct, but never underestimate the tendency of recency bias when it comes to playoff committee’s.  A win, especially a convincing win over the undefeated Aggies w/ a national Thanksgiving weekend audience fairly or unfairly does present opportunity
