I randomly met the Fox sports producer at the hotel after the game. He said the refs were driving them absolutely nuts with all of the reviews. They are responsible for the replays as well as coordinating with “old retired referees” who wind up making the calls. Also have to talk to Blandino while all of this is going on. He said this was one of the toughest games he’s ever had to work. I bitched about the Big 12 to him and he said the PAC 12 was just as bad. Nice guy. I would have loved to shoot the shit with a lot longer than I did.

I think it's funny to see posts about "if we run off a few extra seconds each play" or "if we run there instead of pass" then we win by more.

But nobody saying "if Tech doesn't go for it on 4th down at their 35 we maybe don't score a TD there". Or "if their QB doesn't turn the ball over THREE times in the red zone" we lose.

For every mistake we made on offense, they made equal or worse mistakes. The problems were on defense. We made many more mistakes than they did.

I asked him about that little screen. He said he had no idea what the field referee does with it. The decisions are made in the booth.

Considering this is basically the bridge year between the new coach bump and Herman's recruits actually playing all over the field, especially on the lines, I'm very encouraged that we're winning close games and the offense looks more than functional. I just hope coming into next year the D bounces back and we can be a legit threat to the other bluebloods.

Yes. But this is Tech, a QB factory. So let’s not pretend like 3rd string there is awful, like at Texas.

Goddamn I am tired of the defense trying to lose games for us.

My previous familiarity with Jett Duffy comes from his high school team being undefeated going into the state championship game and losing 55-0 to our local high school (George Ranch).

Little more time on the clock, but he did have the chance, and he didn’t try it

Those only work when there's no time left for the other team to do anything, because then all they need is a field goal to win. Holgo doing it with 16 seconds was a prime opportunity.

The ball hit the ground though.  It hits his right hand, rolls point down into the ground and then all the rest of the action takes place.  I think it is dumb they didn't really take a look (like that catch deep in our end) but it wasn't an INT

No doubt, it might not have been, but it sure seemed close enough to warrant a little more time considering all the other shit they stopped the game to look at.

In my opinion what we are seeing is what happens when a Big 12 defensive player is asked to defend 80 plays per game as opposed to the more conventional 50 that almost every other teams defenses are asked to defend.

By the 10 game of the season our players have played an accumulation of over 300 additional plays, or more importantly, 6 additional games.

The drop off from the back end of the OU game through last night is an accumulation of that additional work load. And not having fresh bodies available to offset it.

This is why we see such huge comebacks that were once an anomaly, have now become the norm.

Meh.

Big XII defenses make up the difference by not covering , rushing the passer, or tackeling

I fucking told you man.... Texas has no ability to win by 3 TDs.... we are a horribly coached team full of morons.

Correct.

I thought our moron was going to blow your morons' incompetency away...seriously.  Duffy( not the aforementioned moron) pulled the shit I thought he was going to with regard to ball protection.  He just had a better first quarter than I was expecting.  I still thought UT would pull away in the 2nd half...

I watched the game with my tech grad brother in law.  He's a good sport and fun to watch these games with.  He was pretty hopeless at the start of the fourth, and I told him he clearly hasn't watched us much this year.  Sometimes I hate being right.

After the game he said it's frustrating to see how well they played ou and us and think about how different the games might have been with Bowman.  Reminded me of how a lot of last year felt for us.

After making the catch, LJH calmly tossed the ball to the official and walked down the sideline to the bench in old school fashion. No taunting, no overt celebration, no look at me what I just did, just an easy stroll to rejoin his team.  Somewhere I just know Earl Campbell, DKR, the entire defense and the rest of the Longhorn nation were all smiling at that effort as I was.  Act like you've been there applied last night-it was refreshing.

Show me the video evidence to support this because every video I have seen the WR has his arm under the ball, rolls over and Foster takes it off his chest. You can't see the point of the ball to make that determination. It was an INT and Herman should have been apoplectic.

What difference does that make? If we take a lead into the second half it will still come down to the last series of the game. It's what we do and it's annoying as hell.

it's frustrating, but the consistency has allowed me to gain about 100 spots in the weekly score prediction contest.

Was there ever a good explanation why Jeffers’ spearing got overturned or not upheld? That was the most egregious officiating blunder of the night (the second being the catch oob that should’ve been reviewed). I can’t fathom a reasonable explanation of how that wasn’t spearing. Launched with crown of his helmet at Ingrams ribs.

Or the hit to the knee with the helmet that the announcers were praising as a good no call based on one foot being in bounds (and one foot out of bounds).

There were actually a couple of plays where the d-lineman went low at Sam’s knees in the pocket. Don’t know if that’s a penalty in college like it is in the pro’s but definitely dirty plays- sums up the way the whole game went off that dirty ass tech defense.

Yep it totally was and couldn’t believe they didn’t review that. They reviewed fucking everything, but not a potential interception in the end zone
Tip of the ball touched the ground while it was rattling around in his arms, so the ground assisted in the catch. I think it is an incomplete pass.

Find the video that shows this. Saying it doesn't make it true. There is no video that shows the ball hitting the ground at any point.
