Just got back yesterday.  Got to play golf in 80-85 degree weather on Friday (Bali Hai).  Rain stopped about 15 minutes before our tee time.  Think it rained a little later in the afternoon and again some on Saturday.  Saturday was high of 83 I believe.  Did not stop the pool parade at the Cosmo though.

It’ll be $1,250 to play Shadow Creek

A group of buddies are going out in early November. We looked at doing Shadow Creek this time and just couldn't really justify spending the $1500/each it was going to cost us to play there. We're doing Cascata again instead and spending less than half of that. It's a great course and we'll have a caddie. Not sure Shadow Creek could really be that much better.

Woman loses toe inside Las Vegas Strip hotel room after she tells man $200 is ‘not enough’

A woman lost part of her toe inside a hotel room on the Las Vegas Strip after she got into an argument with a man who had allegedly offered her money to go to a nightclub with him, documents said.

Las Vegas Metro police arrested Oyefeso Durotimijesu, 35, on a charge of mayhem, records showed.

“Mayhem consists of unlawfully depriving a human being of a member of his or her body, or disfiguring or rendering it useless,” according to Nevada state statute.

On Monday, Sept. 4, a Metro police officer responded to the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip for a report of a woman missing part of her toe, documents said. Hotel security detained Durotimijesu while the injured woman was brought to a hospital.

The woman said she met Durotimijesu at a bar at the MGM when he invited her up to his room, documents said. The two planned to go to a Las Vegas Strip nightclub together and were getting ready when Durotimijesu gave the woman his phone.

Durotimijesu then allegedly grabbed the phone back from the woman and “stated in an angry tone not to go through his phone,” documents said. The woman then attempted to make a call from the hotel room’s phone, but “Durotimijesu was pushing [the woman] with one hand and pulling the phone with the other.”

The two began to wrestle for the woman’s purse when she fell to the floor but was able to call for help, documents said. At one point, Durotimijesu allegedly slammed the door, hitting the woman’s foot.

As security approached the room and the woman lay bleeding on the floor, Durotimijesu allegedly threw the woman’s belongings “one item at a time while yelling profanities” from the room, documents said.

Security officers found the missing part of the woman’s toe in the hotel room, they said.

Durotimijesu told investigators he gave the victim $200 and that the incident was his attempt at getting the money back after she said it was “not enough,” officers said. It was unclear from police documents what the woman’s intentions were.

Judge Rebecca Saxe set Durotimijesu’s bail at $5,000. He remained in custody at the Clark County Detention Center as of Wednesday and was due in court Thursday.

MGM is having a bad couple of days now:

MGM Resorts casinos in Las Vegas and beyond are in the throes of a “cybersecurity issue affecting some of the company’s systems.” Which would probably qualify as the understatement of the year.

The “cybersecurity issue” has resulted in a massive cluster, with guests unable to use the digital card keys for their rooms, having to pay cash at casino venues (as credit card systems are unavailable), along with a slew of other headaches, including slot machines, ATMs and the company’s Web site being taken down. Company employees don’t have access to e-mail.

In other words, MGM Resorts is royally scrod.

And then, it got worse:

don't most have mobile check in now?  Stayed at Aria 2 weeks ago and you could use the app to check in  and get your mobile key to unlock the door.  There was a pretty big line when i rolled in, but was able to just go straight to my room.  Went back later when there was no line to get physical keys 'cause it was annoying to keep pulling out my phone for the lackluster 'room-key-check-dude' to get to the elevators.  Also, all the MGM property elevators would not go up with out scanning a room key.  The phone app worked, but physical key was way easier.

not just MGM apparently

Caesars Entertainment Inc. paid tens of millions of dollars to hackers who broke into the company’s systems in recent weeks and threatened to release the company’s data, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Caesars is expected to disclose the cyberattack in a regulatory filing imminently, the people said. The disclosure of the alleged Caesars breach comes as another Las Vegas entertainment giant, MGM Resorts International, announced that it was hacked earlier this week.

Caesars didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The group behind the attack is known as Scattered Spider or UNC 3944, according to the people. Its members are skilled at social engineering in order to gain access to large corporate networks, according to cybersecurity experts. In the case of Caesars, the hackers first breached an outside IT vendor before gaining access to the company’s network, according to the people.

The hackers began targeting Caesars as early as Aug. 27, according to one of the people.

Members of the hacking group are believed to be young adults, some as young as 19 years old, residing in the US and the UK, according to a person who has investigated multiple hacks by the group.

Cosmo has never been fast with the check in process for some reason.  I don't know if they don't have enough front desk people, but we hang out at Vesper the lobby bar a lot and there are decent sized lines quite often there.

Just checking in the VIP checkin room like a true Surly 1%. Free drinks. No wait.

Iconic New York cheesecake eatery, Junior’s, has announced it will open its first location in Las Vegas.

According to a news release, the new restaurant will mark Junior’s first location on the West Coast.

The eatery, which will be located inside Resorts World Las Vegas, is set to open its doors in November of this year, according to the resort’s website.

“I feel like I just won the jackpot,” said Alan Rosen, the third generation of his family to own Junior’s. “I’m so lucky to have been selected by Resorts World to open our first West Coast location inside its property. I hope that both residents and visitors to the city will also feel lucky that they will be able to enjoy the World’s Most Famous Cheesecake, as well as all the delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, drinks and our other skyscraper desserts.”

Also marking Junior’s sixth location in the U.S., the new Las Vegas restaurant will feature 300 seats and will offer a full-service breakfast, lunch, dinner, late-night menu and bar along with the company’s cheesecake offerings.

“Our goal is to continue to bring exciting dining experiences for our guests and expand our portfolio with unique concepts that can’t be found anywhere else in the city,” said Bartholomew Mahoney, vice president of food & beverage of Resorts World Las Vegas. “We are thrilled to be welcoming the first West Coast location of Junior’s and bring this beloved New York institution to our guests and visitors.”

Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery has been an iconic New York eatery since debuting in the 1950s.

Any idea about what The Sphere "show" is supposed to be?  We're heading out there for Christmas.  Whatever might pass for a show there may be the only thing we all agree on.  All I can gather is that some AI robots do some stuff and the end is produced by Aronofsky.

Strip, downtown hospitality workers vote to authorize strike

Culinary Local 226 and Bartenders Local 165 members overwhelming voted to authorize a citywide strike, the union announced, ramping up the pressure on Las Vegas hotel-casino companies to reach contract agreements.

Thousands of workers turned out to the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus, and 95 percent voted yes, union officials said late Tuesday after two rounds of voting.

Speaking to reporters after the first round of voting, union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge said another round of negotiations will be held next week. If no contract is achieved then, “all bets are off” on setting a strike deadline.

“We’d love to be able to say we have a deal,” Pappageorge, the union’s chief negotiator, said. “We’re not expecting it at this point.”

If a strike occurs, it would not have an end date, Pappageorge said. Walkouts would start at MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts, where contracts for about 40,000 union members have already expired.

Hold up. Don’t put that evil on me, man. I will be there then.

Holy shit. I'm deep into Vegas, very. Super Bowls, Tyson fights 3x, and more Madness weekends than I can count.

But you're venturing into something that I'll watch from afar.

Cannot wait to hear on-the-ground reports, and it's on you to provide as such. I know you won't disappoint.

I’m talking about the week before the race. @SydneyCarton is the dickhead who insisted on that weekend.

Yes, I made that decision in a complete vacuum, while consulting no other people. Because you're so notoroiusly easy-going and reasonable and not liable to blow a fucking gasket at the slightest inconvenience or surprise, I knew I could just pick a weekend, suffer no consequence, and everyone else would twist their schedules around me. All before the first Vegas hack.

Well, at least you’re very self aware.
