is this really a question? he's a private citizen whose father happens to be POTUS. he holds no office whatsoever. good, I'm glad he's pushing back. expose the lies and unfuck the truth a little more

Seems like he’s have to be.  I don't think the analysis considers whether he wanted to be public person. Just that he was one.  Kid of the President alone would have to be enough.

Hunter has a sister whom most people couldn't identify without googling her.  How close of a relationship to the president is necessary to make them a public figure? I didnt know President Biden had a brother until repubs lopped him into their investigations. Hunter could've been just as anonymous as his sister had the conservative echo sphere not set its sites on him.

I think that is still pretty core freedom of press stuff. “President’s Kid Does [salacious thing]” is a headline that can be newsworthy because it’s presidents kid.  You’d get some argument out on the edges — who cares about what third cousin did — but this doesn’t get there.

I also think he’s going to be public figure anyway.  Serving on boards, doing the Amtrak thing, etc.

It just means he has to show that Fox knew it was lying.  The electronic voting company has already shown how easy that is.

How awesome did you think it was when Rush Limbaugh called pre-teen Chelsea Clinton the “White House dog?”

I guess I should no longer be surprised at the willful ignorance of Fox or their viewers.  If he committed fraud or a handgun violation, throw the book at him.  If the House wants to subpoena him to speak before them, they do that with non-public officials every single day of the year.  I get it.

But he's not like Ivanka or Jared.  He was never an actual government employee.  Never held a GS classification.  Had to check in as "Visitor" anytime he wanted to go into the EEOB and go through security (though I'm sure they let him to the front of the line).  Same with White House (minor children who live in the Residence come and go freely only because of their Secret Service detail).  I would think he could probably come and go with regard to the USNO residence when Joe lived there.  But otherwise, he is and was an entirely private citizen.  That is wildly different from Ivanka and Jared who were literally given security clearance access, GS classifications, payroll, formal title, on-site West Wing offices & staff, and some of the highest non-military/DNI/NSA admittance privileges in the White House/Air Force once just shy of Chief of Staff and a handful of others.  That is wildly different than visiting your father for lunch.

How’s that three quarters of a billion dollar settlement with Dominion going? You know, for acting as propaganda.

By the way, below is the link to the current Fox News Politics page.  I know many don't want to click it and give them hits but try and go to this page and imagine you don't get news anywhere else.  Now read the all the stories posted on the entire page.  I saw zero about Trump or Stormy Daniels or anything that has to do with the trial.   If a person goes to this site and believes it's real news, then their entire world view gets skewed to fearing the Democrats because they are corrupt and evil, and the Republicans like Trump are the good guys doing what's best for America.  It sickens me actually, so now I am off to play golf and get really upset!

I get free speech and all that but as long as channels like Fox News are allowed to call themselves "news" this country will remain broken.  Half the country thinks they are getting news when like others have said it's just propaganda.   This is why somewhat normal people in this country are not Fascist wannabees but just get told over and over again that immigrants are flooding the country and killing US citizens and taking their jobs and the Dems want to make your kids gay and trans and every other ridiculous idea that Fox News is pushing causes them to truly believe this stuff because they think Fox News is real news.  Joseph Goebbels would be proud of Fox News.

I turned on CNN last night and they were talking about Trump's trial.  Switched to MSNBC and they also were discussing Trump's trial.  I guess when a former President gets indicted and is in court it is a big story.  When I switched to Fox News it had nothing on Trump's trial, but they had some story about Biden being senile and he shouldn't be allowed to be President because he has dementia.  Propaganda like this should be criminal.  I can't imagine news anchors like Cronkite, Rather, Brokaw, Koppel, etc.... going on the nightly news and ignoring big stories because it would hurt one party or the other or spinning every story to help one party or the other.

We give WAY too much credence to free speech in this country. We tiptoe around fascism lest we be accused of suppressing free speech. I get laughed at every time I suggest it, but there really needs to be a distinction between media and press in this country. Press is facts, media is opinion. It's as simple as that. And I'd go so far as to say that there would need to be disclaimers before media shows saying that the content they are about to see is opinion, not fact. I get some applause and some ridicule every time I suggest it, but we're too dumb to leave it the way it is. Propaganda is tearing this country apart and it's being spearheaded by a fucking Australian and South American. Neither motherfucker is american, in my eyes. They married into the family and we should be able to kick their kind out. But that's just me.

What do you do when Fox News just floods the zone with news that, while technically true, only shows one side or a very limited perspective? That's a huge part of the problem. It's lies through omission or simply extremely lopsided truthiness.

Take, for example, the discussion that's been going on for the past couple of days in the "Libs of TikTok" thread. Folks have been complaining about DT posters, especially Pronghorn, flooding the "National Pro-Palestine Protest" thread with tweets from sketchy, one-sided sources meant to show the protestors in a very bad light. This is essentially what Fox News does 90% of the time.

Flood the zone from such a narrow perspective that the audience comes away with a completely warped view of reality.

Dunno why Rupar deleted the tweet.

My first W-2 job was waiting tables at Red Lobster (WAY back in the day...like, in the "they served hush puppies, not the cheddar bay biscuits" day).  Coincidence?  Draw your own conclusions.

I am become death, destroyer of franchises.

Nope, but had friends who did.  They loved/hated it.

I was once late to my shift at Red Lobster because the night before I went to the Jimmy Buffet show at Astroworld Southern Star arena and drank an entire canteen of tequila and made out with both a mother and daughter and unsuccessfully tried to sleep it off at a nearby hotel and showed up for my lunch shift late and I'm pretty sure still drunk.  But I'm sure that happened to lotsa people.

Had a friend who worked at Schlitterbahn while in college at SWT. His milf-banging exploits were legendary.

I loved Astroworld but had some shitty experiences there - I was taking my mom and sister to a Jimmy Buffet concert there and some drunk asshole kept trying to make out with them.

But loved getting dropped off there as a kid and being told to be back at the entrance at a certain time.  I don't know if I'd want to drop my kids off at a large amusement park at the age I was being dropped off.

Most of the signature items such as Kensington Club, Hawaiian chicken, salad bar and honey wheat bread, will once again delight guests that have been pining for Steak and Ale.

You'll have to visit Minnesota starting in July, but they are supposed to be bringing one to Dallas/FW as well.

And there's franchise opportunities.  Anybody ever ponder how a Steak & Ale would do in Austin?  Is there money in the wreath fund?

When they open the first one in Texas, we should 100% have a Surly dinner gathering there.

Shit, the one in MN is just south of the airport....I have family in MN, if I have to fly to visit them soon.....hmmmm......

Yeah, and you've still not yet to expedite the lunch plates or deliver us our cheddar biscuits.  Been kind of a long time, ya jackass!
