Chicago-born musician Juice WRLD died Sunday after suffering a medical emergency at Midway International Airport.

Emergency crews responded to the airport about 3:30 a.m. after the 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jarad Anthony Higgins, experienced an unknown “medical issue,” according to the Chicago Fire Department and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Chicago police confirmed that a 21-year-old man suffered a medical emergency at the airport a short time earlier after getting off a private jet. TMZ first reported Juice WRLD died after having a seizure.

An autopsy hasn’t been performed, the medical examiner’s office said.

Juice WRLD rose to fame after releasing his 2018 debut album “Goodbye and Good Riddance,” featuring the breakout single “Lucid Dreams” that peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. His followup album, “Death Race for Love,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2019.

My 11 year old just said "why is everyone dying" when I told him the news.  He wasn't a big fan, but he said he liked some songs.

Wasn't Juice World the place in "Billions" made all those people deathly ill and brought down the IPO?  Sad to see it claimed the life on this young wrapper as well.

I've never heard of Juice WRLD.

I am seeing what feels like a rise in early deaths due to "seizures".  I suspect epilepsy is not on the rise -- could there be external factors?  (The vaping craze comes to mind, but I wouldn't even call that conjecture -- it's a complete wild-assed guess that probably has zero relation.)

Condolences to anyone who gives a shit, but I can't believe there's going to be a terrible void left in the world of rap music.

He was an avowed percocet abuser.

First Lil Peep, then XXXTentacion, and now Juice Wrld . . . damn emo-rap has lost a lot of artists. The "sad boys" must be hurting.

RIP - Juice Wrld . . . too damn young.

Never heard of him and didn't know of this until my 14-year-old daughter told me as we were walking out of Central Market last night.

I was more upset over Orange Julius closing at the mall.

Made my first trek to WinStar in OK to see Jerry Seinfeld this past Saturday and there is an Orange Julius in the casino. I couldn't believe it. Kicking myself for forgetting to go back by and get one on our way back to civilization.

I think face was $88. Wife bought them for us as a birthday gift off StubHub so I'm not sure what she paid.

Mr. Juice had 70 pounds of weed and other goodies in his luggage. The cops were waiting for him in Chicago when his plane landed.

A search of luggage aboard the jet yielded 41 ‘vacuum-sealed’ bags - or 70 pounds - of marijuana and six bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, which contains opioids.

Investigators also confirmed that two 9mm pistols, a .40-caliber pistol, a high-capacity ammunition magazine and metal-piercing bullets were also found.

This is a fucking fact. But apparently not lean. He swallowed a ton of Percocet pills when police grounded his plane to search it. I wasn’t a particularly big fan of his rap, but you don’t luck into having a hit song that has 400 million views. I can acknowledge that it wasn’t made for someone my age to enjoy.

I don’t disagree, but again, not made for us. Every generation thinks the majority not the next generations music is dumb. It’s one of the first signs of knowing that you’re getting older lol.

I’m about to yell at clouds but: the difference in the past is that you could respect the musicianship but dislike the music. Where’s the musicianship here? And I’m not a rap hater. Public Enemy, Run the Jewels, Lil Dicky and others are all in rotation for me even now.

So he swallowed a bunch of pills/evidence to avoid arrest? Damn.

One of the main differences with rap now is it’s more about who is producing the beats and putting together the collection of artists on one song. Guys like metro boomin, mike will made-it, etc are the guys that are actually really fucking talented. The rappers are more or less interchangeable. There are only a handful of lyrically talented rappers (J Cole, and Joyner Lucas for example). It’s more about your voice or how you carry yourself on the song. Different times, man.

Just a fucking awful/stupid way to die. I don’t know if this would’ve been strike 3 for him, or what his legal situation was like, but it really sucks for him and anyone who has ever been in his life who encouraged this type of behavior. Stick with weed, kids.

How do you get away with using the word "rapper" & "musician" in the same sentence?

This is fucking silly. I get it, majority of the Shag hates rap and usually makes fun of these deaths. Try doing the same when these rock musicians off themselves and people will cry about it only because it's musicians of their preferred music.

Bu you damn right rappers are musicians even by the most basic definition of what a musician is. How are they not? Care to explain? Don't tell me you think the music sucks and they aren't talented. I think the same thing about many genres but won't question their musician status. Vocals and harmony are apart of music. Nothing different than rock vocalists.

I think that’s been the case for awhile. How many hits did Timbaland have with how many different artists?

Also, people have been abusing drank for decades. Everyone thinks it is harmless due to the nature of it. It's colorful and liquid. But using drank in abundance is no different than being addicted to meth and heroin. But no one sees it in the same light because of the differences in how you consume it. It's "cool" and "trendy" to take pics of your drank and having it in your hand. But it is fucking dangerous, especially when taking it at high levels. This generation of rappers glorifies being straight up junkies. And these younger kids think it's cool, too. Popping pills is dangerous.

Nipsey was shot, but it is still part of an unfortunate pattern of rappers dying young. Nipsey was different though. Great in the community. He encouraged kids to stay out of the life that got him to where he was at (part of the rollin’ 60s crips from like age 14).

I am really surprised lil Wayne hasn’t died yet from drank. That documentary was hard to watch. But “me and my drank” will always be one of my favorite songs. Even though it’s part of the culture that encourages that shit.

I actually don't think that's true.  At least, it doesn't seem to be true among those who participate on this particular forum.  I mean, I'm a pretty typical mid-50s white Dad who mostly listens to rock and pop but I own a little rap and listen to it fairly often.  I think it's pretty fucking obvious that over the past few decades there have been an abundant number of rap artists with massive talent.  Most may not "sing" but they write and perform lyrical content that can be every bit as evocative as Springsteen or whoever your favorite lyricist might be.  Throw in what I hear as pretty innovative vocal timing and delivery (I guess that's "flow"), and I'm not gonna criticize them for not being a terrific singer when I don't criticize Bob Dylan in that way, either.

Good to know - gives me another connection into my son's world, which is always helpful.

I listened to a lot of Juice WRLD because of my son. His Lucid Dreams is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. It made me worried when my kid broke up with his high school girlfriend. Those can be deep wounds.

He raps, but he’s one of the best DJs/producers of this generation of rap. Maybe not as much anymore, but definitely when I was in high school and college.
