How Fox News works

Right or wrong, there is a simple playbook to remove Fox News shows when the host makes a statement embarrassing to the advertisers.  And those executing the playbook are impressively getting the job done.

How many hours did it take from Ingraham’s initial tweet before she was forced on vacation in an attempt to save the show?

Approximately 33 hours by my calculations.

ingraham might survive if the attention of this campaign goes elsewhere.  Otherwise I imagine they will continue to bombard her advertisers.   By the end of next week, my pillow and reverse mortgages might the last ones standing.

it has to be a gut punch for the network to have many eyes watching a show but have to give commercials for free or low cost.  At least one of the advertisers said they were on but didn’t pay for it.

That is amazing and disgusting, how they completely gloss over the substance and subject she is trying to describe to her class.  I don't watch any Fox stuff, because if i did, I would walk around angry all damn day.

I know, that clip has the full package of everything wrong with Fox News.

1. Overt hypocrisy

2. Racial dog whistle

3. Anti public education dog whistle

4. Misrepresentation of the facts.  The teacher didn’t slam Trump from the clip I heard.  She was “just asking questions”. Which is what Fox News does all fucking day.

Must suck to learn your hero is such a big piece of shit. Has you questioning your desire to enter into a relationship with him.

These are the responses about a teenager that wants fewer people to die from gun violence.

What happened to "I'm so tired of celebrities interjecting their views into politics?"  Do C- and D-list celebs not count?

That only counts when the celebrity opinion is liberal.  When it’s a conservative opinion, then it’s their god given right to speak the truth.

The IRS also targeted political advocacy groups for pretending to be 501c3’s under Obama. How dare they!

Turned out the IRS lost that law suit and was forced to pay out millions in settlements...but I'm sure that's not because they did anything wrong.

Like imagine you are this lady. You've had a long and successful career of race bating  and outing gay people and scaring old white people. You have a big time tv show. The people you associate with probably respect you or at least pretend to. You think you've made it, or at least made it as far as a shrill bigoted white lady can make it. You dog whistle Lebron James and sure, you get roasted by adults with an IQ over 80, but your loyal base eats it up harder than a hat full of leaves. Then one day you see a child from Florida speaking out against gun violence and you think "bingo, time to get my name out in the news again and boost those ratings. I can say whatever I want, because my loyal following of mouth breathers and cash-for-gold enthusiasts will love this."

So you fire off a tweet and go to bed, ready to see the shitstorm you started in the morning and then talk about it all week. Except that doesn't happen. That little shit tweets at your advertisers. You probably laugh it off at first, but then one by one they start dropping you. Your producers are calling you, the network is pissed, and suddenly there are consequences for being the piece of shit you always have been. And then you have to come out crawling on your hands and knees and apologize to some fucking kid from Florida or else you will lose everything you have.

Don't try and tell me that isn't fucking awesome.

I'm all out of reps on this newfangled Shag 2.0, HF 3.0 machine.

If they paid a settlement, they didn't lose a lawsuit.

Quote

As companies yank their ads from Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham's show in droves, she continues to draw support from one key Twitter demographic: Russian bots.

The advertiser exodus comes after Ingraham insulted Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg's grades on Twitter. The Fox News host announced Saturday that she would be taking a "pre-planned vacation" amid the controversy.

On Saturday evening, #istandwithlaura was the top trending hashtag among Twitter accounts linked to Russian influence operations, according to Hamilton 68, a website launched last year that tracks Russian propaganda campaigns in near-real time.

Per the site's data, the frequency with which the accounts tweeted the hashtag jumped by 2800% on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, according to the website botcheck.me, which says it tracks 1500 "political propaganda bots," @ingrahamangle, @davidhogg11, and @foxnews were among the top six Twitter handles Russia-linked accounts tweeted at over the last 24 hours. The top two-word phrases were "David Hogg" and "Laura Ingraham."

Did some refreshing on the IRS “scandal” which is emblematic of the the disfunction in our democracy.

Really it started with the Citizens United ruling and democrats like Chuck Schumer complaining about abuse by political groups abusing 501c4 status following the ruling. IRS targeted tea party groups, as they would if a bunch of socialist blue dogs started to pop up. But FOX News jumped on it and made it the scandal of the century. Official Investigations didnt turn up anything, years go by and the Trump administration settles. Now, FOX reports their conclusions are verified.

Keep in mind the confusion of the CU decision has opened the floodgates from individuals, factions and nations around the world to influence our elections. And IRS staff in the crosshairs make these types of investigations unattractive.

The entire IRS "scandal" was a manufactured campaign to force the IRS to permit fraud by conservative political groups.

You should report A March for Our Lives to the IRS.
