Fair catching kickoffs inside the 5 is a touchback if you actually catch it. You see it every game now. Before pontificating on what is a good decision, it’s helpful to actually know the rules.12 points

Holy shit, you bitches whined about Mack Brown being a wall flower for years, and now you're pissed that we have a coach who actually has a fucking backbone? AGAIN, I hate Texas fans. "We" are absolutely the most coddled, spoiled rotten shitty ass fans in college football, and it's not even close. "WE" haven't earned shit for a decade and you twats want a national title out of the blue. Fuck you. Grow up, learn to observe general trends, stop freaking out at the natural speed bumps, and be a fucking man for once in your life. Otherwise, tell us who we should hire, and we'll all laugh at your stupid ass.11 points

If you read the football board, this was clearly the worst performance of Tom Herman's tenure at Texas (forgetting that we lost to FUCKING MARYLAND. TWICE!). On Monday it's expected that CDC will personally fire the OC, DC, WR, OL, LB, and Special Teams coach. Herman can stay, but he's basically Charlie Strong. Everyone knows that UT coaches should go undefeated. Anyway, as is always the case around here, posts after a loss are filled with hyperbole. Tom did get outcoached today. The D was simultaneously the reason we were in the game, but also very disappointing, especially in tackling. Part of that is that CeeDee Lamb is as good of a WR as anyone in the country. Motherfucker is shifty as fuck and seemed like he had Vaseline on his jersey. OL was surprisingly shitty. The huge number of sacks is partly attributed to some great blitz schemes by Grinch, part to our WRs seemingly not being able to get open, part to Sam playing as hesitant and unconfident as I've ever seen him play. But OL was routinely beaten. First half play calling and stubborn "can't abandon the run" when we kept running between the tackles for zero yards was fucking frustrating. The number of swing/WR screen passes was rage-inducing deja vu back to the Mack/Greg Davis blowouts. Yet, we were in the game until the end and beat the spread. I don't think the sky is falling. I do think we're still in the middle of the transition. I do think losing half our starters on D to injury had a huge impact. And I do think the UT fan base underestimated losing so many starters from last year's team. Definitely not time to panic, but this does re-calibrate expectations a bit. I said before the year I thought we would flip the series and lose today but win the conf championship game. We can still make that happen.9 points

Every loss is the end of the world to you people. Fire up the fire Tom Herman thread, maybe the next hypothetical coach can go undefeated and deserve us.9 points

I don't mind losing so long as we look well coached. We don't. We still can't figure out catching the ball on ST return. We take on blocks and give up the outside shoulder. Our DBs don't look for the ball. We blitz but give 10 yard cushions. We blitz from 8 yards deep, right into blockers. Our defenders don't play assignment football. Our oline still can't handle stunts.8 points

At this point I would say things are frustrating. Like ‘99, ‘00. We are stuck with a few “smallish” problems distracting from potential greatness. I remember (96-01) loving our teams but always dropping 4 games and 2 they shouldn’t. The magazine lines were all about how we were “stuck” at 9 wins. all I can say is that they had a shot at LSU and OU but the better team won. Fuck it. That’s were were at, let’s not be aggy about it. I felt shitty after Maryland last year and couldn’t believe how the guys closed out. The game I saw exposed our well known systemic problems against a superior team with talented individuals putting in exceptional performances. I don’t feel the team quit, it was out coached, however, the difference here is that the problems are not stagnant- there isnt the stench of sewage lingering, we are still in my fans mind a frustrating transition. No excuses. We lost, OU best us fair and square. But I don’t feel the hopeless incompetence that permeated the last 10 years. now, I’m going to go get stoned.8 points

From the Trumpkin point of view, it isn't about these things. It's not about Trump being a deeply, deeply unintelligent, dishonest, immoral, failed businessman. It's not about his history of corruption. It's not about his incompetence. It's not about what type of character should occupy the highest office in the land. It's about his divisiveness. The love it. Look at how the crowd cheered yesterday when Trump started talking about Somali refugees. They hate immigrants, at least those who don't look like they do. They fucking hate Muslims. They want someone to put a stop to it. Trump is doing that, and they love him for it. They hate gay marriage. They feel it in their bones. They see it as an assault on their way of life. They hate abortion and want to see Roe v. Wade overturned. They'll never have the public support for a Constitutional Amendment, so they want Supreme Court judges to overturn it. They hate social programs like food stamps. If you're a child, and your parents are divorced and your dad's a dead beat, you don't deserve to eat. Fuck you, that's why. Why can't your mom just get another job? They love guns. Fucking love them. They don't give a shit that two generations of schoolchildren grew up scared of going to school. Heck, a lot of them don't even think we should have public schools anyway. Public schools teach things like science, and that doesn't fit in with their religion. It's about taking a side. They very strongly feel that they know what's best for America, and if you're not on their side then fuck you. Trump's on their side.7 points

This is correct. I didn't believe it at first, either. I thought the old-timers were just telling each other what they wanted to hear when it came to actually not wanting a drink, and secretly they all wished they could have one, but they just didn't, because they'd learned better habits or they'd feel guilty. I was wrong. You get enough separation from that pull and every aspect of your life improves so much that you realize you really don't want a drink. There's nothing you want less, in fact. For me, it was somewhere between 12 and 18 months. I realized I'd never drink again. You could put a bottle of the finest scotch in the world in front of me, right now, and put a gun to my head and tell me to drink it or get shot. And I'm telling you, we'd wrestle over that gun before I'd put that bottle to my lips. Hundred: you are capable of changes you can't even imagine right now. I'm not any stronger than you are, I guarantee it.6 points

1 second. Exactly 1 second from when he began to say "PUT YOUR HANDS UP" and when he killed her. Through a fucking window. If you perceive a threat through a wall at a call about a door that is open and that perceived threat is enough to drive you to end someone's life you need to a) not be a cop b) not own a gun c) get into therapy or something. What the fuck?5 points

I thought I'd stop in and say hello for old times' sake. Of course, as a program, we're still beating the same dead horse we've been beating for 20 years. And we're still paying a guy $5 million a year to lose to those low-rent dirt bags 3 out of 4 times. So, the more things change, the more they stay the same. I finally lost interest in enabling a program that has every advantage but can't win it's own conference or beat a low-class rival even half the time. For the University of Texas to consistently finish behind 0U in anything is a monumental embarrassment. I finally just had to let go emotionally and accept that this is the way it is, for now. Hopefully I'll live long enough to see it change, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for overpaid coaches and administrators to be held accountable. What I've learned the past several years is there's more to life than fretting over athletic underachievement. If the powers-that-be don't give a fuck, why should I? Some of you might do well to examine these realities against your priorities, for the sake of your own sanity.5 points

I agree that, despite the close score and back and forth nature of the second half, it never seemed like we would win. OU always seemed in control. But, in the Mack days, this game would have been 52-21 or something like that. The first time something went wrong, it snowballed into a blowout. Give this team credit. They fight until the very end. Herman deserves some credit for that.5 points

There was definitely a stench of arrogance in the way we were prepared and we got punched in the mouth. It was all phases. We looked like we thought past results guaranteed future success and they don’t. Lesson learned, maybe? I can forgive occasionally not being ready to play. It happens even in rivalry games. But there are repeating, yearly fundamental issues that need to be addressed. The return game has been mostly shit. The line does not handle stunts. The receivers have a tough time getting separation. We are vulnerable to losing the edge on running plays. The cornerbacks do not play physical on get off from the line and give up too much cushion. These are things that are ongoing.5 points

Forced two TOS, held OU on 4th and 1, and had two other 3 and out series. Our offense lost this game. We were unorganized and unprepared, and Riley and his staff coached circles around us. Sam was sacked 9 times and several of those were the direct result of him holding the ball to long. I picked a bad time to stop sniffing glue5 points

I mean, "1-3 vs his only real competition" is fucking retarded. Classic Texas fan discombobulation. I don't even know how you're counting. Is Georgia not "real competition"? Let me guess, "they didn't want to be there"? 1-3 vs OU 0-1 vs LSU 1-0 vs UGA Sure seems like that's 2-4, not 1-3, and it ignores the other bowl game along with who knows what other game that "matters". If you're going to make bold statements, at least be fucking right. I hate Texas fans. ""5 points

It's just the "ou Game," period, paragraph. Some pencil-dick dork in some obscure advertising agency came up with what he thought was a catchy name for corporate endorsement. It's bullshit. We call it the "ou Game;" they call it, when their mouths aren't so full of dicks that they can talk, the "Texas Game." It's an epic, magnificent confrontation between two teams and two fanbases that hate each other more than they hate any other team/program. It's monumental in scope, most years has an overarching effect on the national playoff picture, and is the single, most important game on both teams' regular schedule. Don't demean it with some catch-phrase bullshit moniker that bad TV tries to sell you; call it what your father and your grandfather called it, and hopefully what your grandkids will call it: the fuckin' "ou Game." Now go out there and beat the livin' shit outta' ou! Goddam, I wish I was there.5 points

Surgery went relatively well, so that’s a minor victory. He removed the spleen and a large mass attached to it and drained the fluid from her abdomen. He said he saw some small spots throughout her abdomen that could be metastases but maybe not. Only way to know is to wait on pathology in 5-7 days. The next obstacle for her is short term recovery to see if she regains strength and starts making blood cells. If that goes well we may get to bring her home in 2-3 days, then long term prognosis depends on the pathology.5 points

I suppose you can argue that some of our WTF games in prior years were worse, but a pleasing aspect of Herman has been good preparation and solid gameplanning for bigtime opponents. This one fails big time. I was worried that trap games would remain a problem with Herman for a while. Now I'm just worried. It appears that comfort coach hiring is coming home to roost now that recruiting seems mostly on track. Thoughts?4 points

TBH... I've left Fair Park feeling worse than I do today. But I'm pissed. And I'm disappointed. Herman's ego is a big obstacle to us improving. Stinkin' Lincoln is a mercenary coach with a mercenary qb, but he course-corrected after last year. Ball is in TH's court.4 points

Didn't play well but OU is a better team from top to bottom. The fact that the game was even remotely close with as bad as Texas played says he didn't do an awful job. Team was just out performed. Sometimes it is that simple.4 points

BJ Foster has been hurt since the first quarter and has refused to get in on any tackle yet we still play him. I get he's in pain but that's embarrassing. He pulls up every time.4 points

75% of our pass plays are 50/50 balls to the sideline. Riley is literally 10x the coach that Herman is. Half of OU’s plays are to wide open players.4 points
