  1. What a coincidence. I don’t feel comfortable with him representing UT either.

  3. You're one seriously stupid son of a bitch, this has nothing to do with herd immunity you dumbfuck. I'm a physician with hundreds of docs in my group, I run the damn thing and started it from scratch. We run postacute networks for hospitals like Northwestern in 30+ states. I'm pretty sure I have 'an idea' you dumb motherfucker.

  7. That’s actually astute. The GOP relies on bogeymen to drum up votes. They don’t want to actually achieve their goals, because then there’s no crusade left to rally the troops behind. It’s why GI Joe never killed any of the Cobra troopers; why the Joker always left Batman an opportunity to escape; why the referee was always distracted or unconscious when the baby face pinned Ric Flair for a solid 3-count. The continued existence of Roe and immigrants and liberal judges is good for GOP business.

Who is scared shitless that once they lose power, everyone else will treat them the same shitty way they have treated everyone else? Middle aged white men. Who can get fucked? Middle aged white men.

  13. Sorry, I’m gonna trust a doc (even a dirty Sooner) on the front lines over somebody who joined this site three days ago because of “The Eyes” issue. The SK “reinfections” were largely attributed to faulty testing the first time.

  14. Yeah you are. Our doctors/nurses exposed that tested positive never got it again after hundreds of exposures. It’s very rare to get it again - if at all. Likely shoddy testing on those that think they got it twice. edit: also after hundreds of our nursing home patients tested every week...0.5% got it twice. Zero of those had symptoms both times but we did isolate them again per protocols.

  15. I have a hard time thinking yesterday’s meeting went that far off the fucking rails. After listening to CDC talk earlier this week, the guy was emotional and at several times almost to tears regarding this situation. He got it. He was simply advocating that we have the conversation and we listen to the players. There was to be yesterday’s preliminary meeting, and then a larger meeting in July with former alums who’ve requested to be part of the conversation with current athletes. My guess...And this is 100% my speculation, is that if there are hurt feelings after yesterday, it’s because some athletes expected promises and 100% capitulation on demands, and instead were told this is going to be a process we work through. Which is what it has to be, for many different reasons. And that faction with no patience or expectations on a timeline for change or how administration and even laws work lashing out could end up poisoning the process. After listening to CDC, my guess is that the kids are going to get damn near everything they’ve requested, and there will be a legitimate conversation about the Eyes. If this team and our school blows up because the expectation was horses would be ripping down statues this morning at 8 am, when they were probably going to get everything they want in the end I consider this a tragedy. mitchell seems like a cancer for several reasons. Maybe the interim president is a dick and sent shit sideways, but given what I heard from CDC I have a real, real hard time imaging how this meeting could have truly gone sideways. It would have to have been a complete failure of communication between the school admins. I think it’s much more likely no immediate changes were promised and some have reacted negatively.

  16. 8 people liked this. Amazing - a black player speaks their mind and get sent straight to the shit pile by Texas "fans" Tom wasn't wrong - some people only support them for 3 hours for 12 Saturdays in the fall and DGAF about them the rest of the week

  17. Let me guess, he plans on transferring to a SEC school because of that league’s long standing support of African American issues. Everyone gets to make a statement and take a stand, if they wish. I wish the man the best of luck and encourage him to continue his quest to promote racial equality.

  18. First things first. 1) Get Trump out of office. 2) Defeat all Trumpist Republicans in every office, right down to dog catcher. 3) Drive all Trumpists back under a rock. Boycott their businesses. Ostracize them from community activities. Remember and say their names in public, over and over. And never, ever forget.

  27. Saying somebody is "spoonfed" controversy when they are upset about something is exactly the dismissive patriarchal attitude that got us into this mess we are in right now. Insinuating people should get over it is both reductive and insulting. The players have a voice and a right to use it. They are grown ass men with agency. Again, unless the University is willing to go on full blown media campaign to exculpate the song, and convince the world, then this is really moot. The optics suck and unless you want to hear Herbstreit calling us racist every Saturday, it's going to get changed or eliminated. I've worked in politics for almost 25 years. The simpler the slogan and campaign, the more effective. If you are arguing what is and what is not a minstrel show, and whether it was originally performed in black face, you've lost the argument.

  34. Likely it’s not worth it, but: 1) Were they actually conservative judges? How do you know? And what does that even mean to you, since the future behavior of judges is historically they worst bet in politics? I think you mean “Republican”, not conservative. 2) Did he work to slow illegal immigration? Kinda looks like Obama to me, except with less effort. But he was far more cruel and inhumane, in that he attempted to use family separation as a deterrent. See also, values. I would add that support for comprehensive immigration Reform is a long term Republicans issue, because it supplies the labor force in ways we require and encourages free trade, which Republicans used to value. Until they sacrificed it at the alter of muh judges. 3) everything that was in his plan except anything with healthcare, the budget, the financing and construction of the wall, etc. He sure was a dick to our western allies, though, and encouraged foreign adversaries to meddle in our elections. Does that Anti-trade and anti-NATO sound Republican to you? 4) We are still in Iraq and Afghanistan. Are you referring to moving troops out of Erdogan’s way so he could massacre our allies the Kurds? 5) You putting continuing the global war on terror on the same list of achievements as pulling out of the Middle East is *chef’s kiss*

  35. My daughter wanted to see a lot of the Universities to help her decide where she should go. My wife was going to do the A&M trip, so I booked them two rooms in the "Aggy hotel" (Yes, the one that sits 60 yards from a live railroad track). All is well until other daughter breaks her arm (badly) requiring surgery. Much better for mom to stay home, so off we go to Collie Station. We check in, walk around the campus and talk. I laugh about "Rudder tower" and explain to her that our Vet in Austin when I was a kid was one of the "old ags" that wanted Rudder dead, since he allowed women in and allowed students to not be in the corps, now their "main building" is named after him. She was shocked that they had spent money to have a scoreboard on their stadium pet cemetery. I told her of Sul Ross, Governor, Texas Ranger, President. of A&M, War Criminal. Next morning we're on the tour, fairly standard stuff. With a coupe of exceptions, The tour at A&M is more like an hour and a half, where most places keep it to about 45 minutes. A percentage of the folks on the tour are obviously going to send their kid to A&M and ONLY A&M. Instead of trying to soak in the good and the bad, instead of going as a family and letting the kid choose their path, it was a strange vibe. More of a "look at your great new school Jr.!" The tours at A&M are less interactive and more of the guide having to stand on an exact spot and recite the 5 lines from a memorized flash card. Soooo, we end up at the statue of "Sully", I'm more or less numb to all the blather at this point. But I do notice the tour guide tells of what a great guy he was, Governor, Ranger and President of A&M, No reference to the Civil War. My daughter turns and looks at me, with a look that is clearly "aren't you going to say something dad?". I believe my slight head shake told her "no freaking way". The tour had people of all races, and I wouldn't straighten this place out if I could. Ultimately, it was the concept of "midnight yell" and the tour guide trying to have a "mini yell practice" in front of the statue of E. King Gill that put the nail in their coffin with my daughter. I told her wherever you go to school, you should be a part of the experience. She said going to a midnight yell practice when she might have a paper to write was "stupid". I didn't disagree with her. When the tour guide went through all of the different "class yells' and told all of the prospective students to do the freshman yell, my daughter turned to me and said "I'm no longer a prospective student". It came down to Trinity, TCU, and UT. She starts at UT in the Fall.
