  1. Anytime someone starts a letter saying this isn’t to make excuses, it always seems to have a lot of excuses.

  3. When I was 11, I traded my buddy a few of my CDs for his. I ended up with some Guns n Roses CDs and gave him some of the crap I got from my Columbia House subscription. My dad was driving during a long road trip and I asked him if I could put in one of the new CDs I got in the trade. I handed him Appetite for Destruction complete with an "EXPLICIT LYRICS" tag on the label. My dad glanced at it, calmly rolled down the window without saying a word, and flung it into the I-10 median doing 65.

  4. Apparently, there remains a strong belief that Texas will land a chunk of the top line recruits, even going 4-8. Specifically, folks seem to believe that some of the OL will "fall into our lap". I guess I'll believe it when I see it. One other item, and I swear to God I am not trolling on this or hoping to see some peoples' heads actually explode, but there is a lot of buzz out there right now that Tom Herman has been talking shit over text to some players that he feels "betrayed by" still in the program.

  5. had to put this is here: https://247sports.com/Article/Texas-football-Kirk-Herbstreit-opens-up-on-Steve-Sarkisian-175436914/ “Charlie Strong told me, when he was the head coach at Texas, he wasn't fired yet,” Herbstreit said. “He just got there, was getting a lot of heat. He said, 'this is a tough job because on one hand, they want me to recruit a lot of these five-stars in this state, but I don't think they're great players. But there's such immense pressure to recruit this player out of this area or this player because they're five stars. And if you don't recruit those players, they're going to crush you because you didn't land that recruit. And if you do bring them in, you're deep down I don't know if this guy is a dog.' ... Sark knew this before he went. In fact, he and I had a conversation when his name was in there. I called him and I said, 'are you going to take this?' He said, 'yeah I think I'm gonna.' And I said, 'you know the deal there right.' He goes 'oh yeah, before I even commit, I'm going to talk to them about how I’m going to have to do this. It’s going to be really hard to do this the right way. And as long as you’re going to support me through this, we’re going to do this. It’s not going to be pretty. “In order to change the culture there that has been struggling since 2010, even the last couple of years with Mack (Brown). Something got into this program that’s like a virus, and it’s permeated itself for over a decade now. So to get it done right, you can’t put a Band-Aid on this problem and a Band-Aid over there and expect it to be ‘look we’re 8-4, everything’s fine over here.’ Nope. It’s almost like a decayed tooth. You gotta really go to work on that thing.”

  10. I was on a plane with Danny Glover one time. He was struggling with his carry-on and I gave him a hand with it and whispered "you're getting too old for this shit." He chuckled and said it was the only time that's ever been funny. He was very nice but I left him alone after that.

  12. I saw that comment elsewhere, that they are floating this balloon out there - it's a helluva revenue generator. This too, but that requires people in the subdivision to actually attend the HOA meetings. $300+ an incident is going to cause a shitstorm though. And having worked with HOAs before, and having lived in one, it always seemed like some HOA board member had their finger in some pie to make themselves some money on the side, whether it was picking out the pool management company or lawn maintenance or whatever. With that said, you can fuck around with HOAs in subdivisions, etc.. Had friends who, against their better judgement, moved to a fairly strict HOA. They started getting dinged over stupid shit, so they got a copy of the member list, copied the HOA letterhead from their letters and made a template and went to town on it. They went about their normal morning and evening walks subtly making note of which homes broke which regulations (basically they'd pick a different rule or regulation every day and then look for houses breaking said regulation). They then sent out a few hundred notices and managed to get pretty much every home within the HOA, listing the regulations they broke, and that this was just a friendly warning, but the HOA leadership would be watching like a hawk because they were concerned that these houses were going to hurt the subdivisions' image, etc. and that they would be taking photographs of their lawns, etc, from now on, and there would be fines, etc. in the future. I think it cost them around $150 to mail all of those notices, but they said the next HOA meeting was off the rails and completely worth it.

  19. My bias? I really don't care if it is him or not. I really don't care about this kid. What I care about is justice and the rule of law. Not the mob mentality like the bias commie idiots that throw a tantrum and start riots if they don't get the result they want. They are literally in front of the courthouse right now trying to intimidate the jury.

  20. Yeah, fuck these assholes. They've had a massive advantage since before this PU era even started, and lobbied hard to entrench it with the idiotic and incredibly restrictive token system ... and Lewis has done the same kind of shit, and other shit, with no penalty. Fuck Merc AMG F1. Fuck crying Lewis, Fuck bitchass Toto, Fuck aggy. Fuck Baylor. Fuck Art Briles, etc. But most of all, Fuck Mack Brown.

  21. I don't expect Patterson to be involved with the program, but are you really dumb/naive/both enough to believe that money and petty vengeance aren't sound motivators for egotists who have been wronged? Given your posting history and staunch support of Sarkisian irrespective of outcome, I guess you might actually be dumb enough. The dude actually showed up to a tailgate this season. He looked like the aging child molester in pleated blue jeans that you'd expect.

  23. Yes, but conceptually Biden is on the ticket. This next election in Texas will be just as much a backlash against Joe Biden and his tyrannical federal government that makes us get vaccines and allows brown-skinned criminals to freely cross our borders to rape our Texas women and steal our jobs. And there's no Trump to galvanize the Democrats, along with the moderate Republicans who hated that fucker and voted D in 2020. The Republican candidate -- whether Abbott or Huffines -- will coast to victory by at least 12 points. Sorry for ruining your Black Panther party.

  25. And there THAT is. What a lazy-ass, garbage troll take. I literally listened to NPR speak to congresscritters from both parties on the issue of the various spending bills/proposals the past couple of weeks, and the interviewer 1) kept the conversation topical, and 2) asked hard/uncomfortable questions of both, giving them a chance to state their case, but not unchallenged. It was about as close to objective and unbiased interviewing as you can get. What a piss-ant troll take. You haven't been banned enough. You're a flat-out troll.

  29. It would almost be worth the meltdown to check out the football board when LSU drops 12-13 per year to secure Lincoln Riley while we settled for Stevie Sevens for 6 million. Almost, because football board posters are basically Forrest Gump without kindness and empathy. The entire state of Louisiana is worth less today than it was worth when we bought it for 15 million during the Louisiana purchase. But they can get a coach.

  30. Also, the government money that goes to NPR subsidizes the rural and small station operations budgets, not programming. The big PBS and NPR outfits produce most of the programming using private donations (Ray Kroc’s wife left a huge chunk of their fortune to the NPR mothership in DC). If you take away the government funding, it just means your small town NPR station won’t be able to keep the lights on. The big Boston, NY, DC, Chicago, and LA outfits will be just fine. With the migration to talk radio /and corporate radio consolidation of FM and AM, NPR is often the only source of free news, traffic, and weather in small communities. NPR is an excellent example of public private partnership that works and involves minimal tax payer investment and maximum return.

  32. On topic: My dad's bday is today, he would have been 99 but he's dead. He was okay on Thanksgiving but NYE, he would usually go all drunken Pancho Villa and shoot his service pistol in the air or the one he got from the German SS officer that surrendered it to him. You couldn't talk him out of his drunken antics, you just hoped to survive them unharmed. He definitely had some untreated PTSD so he was a tightly wound, turn-on-a-dime asshole, but sometimes could be shockingly sweet. Happy bday, Daddy. Off topic derail: In colonial times they would likely eat mussels and lobsters and shell fish with their turkey. I think that is why there are so many seafood dressings, aside from oyster that are remnants from the fare of the early T-day tables.
