  1. 1) Saban was told to shut the fuck up about Bryce Young’s money by his father the day Saban put it out there at the Texas high school coaches gathering. The next day, he was mum on the matter at SEC media days. Young’s father said he could play and make money anywhere and he didn’t need to be used as a Saban pawn for recruiting. Saban got religion pretty quickly. 2) That shit got out to coaches everywhere. There is a reluctance to talk about such matters because savvy parents and players don’t appreciate it. You guys may not like it, but Hudson Card is making 6 figures right now. You don’t hear about it, but recruits and such know these things. 3) Oregon has been lapping the field on this stuff, way out ahead of OSU and others. Michigan, Texas, Miami, Notre Dame and others have all had as much get out there or publicized as the two schools you picked. Don’t p-hack the data to get the result you want. Your point is fine without posturing it in that way. 4) As some of us have said the whole way, the NIL shit from Texas’ end started off with a face plant but it isn’t really behind anyone else besides Oregon. There is a very real argument to be made that Texas will have one of the biggest NIL stories so far and a blueprint for how you meet a payroll with our kind of power and money soon enough, in spite of UT’s best efforts to fuck it up. Not a done deal, but things are headed in the right direction on that front, at least.

  2. Seems like this board has cooled on Maalik but he has continued to improve week to week and all in on Texas. His attitude and positivity seem in infectious and guys gravitate to him in camps. Will be glad to have him on campus come January.

  3. Imade had a quote yesterday about Flood that gave me a lot of hope: Guard Tope Imade, a sixth-year player, is the rare Longhorn who has played for three different head coaches during his time on campus. “I know from the short time I’ve had with Coach Sark, he is the guy,” he said. Imade also praised offensive line coach Kyle Flood. Imade would know; he’s played for four position coaches during his time at UT. “I couldn't be any more grateful,” he said. “Even outside of me, I see walk-ons developing, and that’s amazing. You know, I've never seen that here before.”

  5. He's feasted on bad defenses. His stats against Oklahoma State, Baylor, Iowa State, and West Virginia are horrible. He's the definition of JAG. Add in the fact that he and his dad are cancers and we can't get rid of them fast enough.

  6. ...oh, you are serious? https://247sports.com/Player/Tyler-Johnson-88286/high-school-167830/ the guy was a composite top 60 recruit and was highly thought of from 2017 until he signed in 2019. not like he came out of nowhere. he had offers from everyone in the region + Bama/Florida/FSU/UGA/LSU/Michigan/ND/USC. his secondary recruiter from OU was fucking Lincoln. they offered before Texas and invited him to Jr Day, got an OV. but sure, Texas didn't do their due diligence on him and everyone would have known he DGAF about football lol ok. how convenient that you have a connection at his exact high school! and how convenient that you happen to have this information now. how convenient that you didn't ask in 2017 when this was relevant and wait until now when he is leaving.

  9. Pre-NSD1. If it gets done, it could be a floodgate opener across potentially every sport but starting with a key part of football. Just be patient and remember that this is going big or going home, and given what we've lived over the last 12 years, you have to give going home its due consideration.

  11. Literally the best move Texas could make would be to hire Samples. IMO it would be even better than bringing in Ewers. Which is precisely why it wont happen, have yall not learned that we cant have nice things?

  12. I can't wait to see what disgusting and random items are brought to the family pot luck this go-round. On the 4th of July someone brought a crockpot of "queso" but they used pimento cheese instead of Velveeta. I swear I started looking around to see if @Jade was in the house.

  13. Flight for Texas leaves at 10 AM on Wednesday. Maypearl mafia just informed me that, due to rising grocery cost, they have decided to make this years Thanksgiving a "POT LUCK", and want to know if I can bring a Turkey or Ham. I am boarding an airplane to be a part of this shit show, and now I am supposed to find a fully prepared 20 lb Turkey or Ham on the day before fucking Thanksgiving to feed these fat hillbilly bastards. I swear to all that is holy, this is the last one of these shit shows I attend.

  14. Been house cleaning bitch today in addition to getting the car's 30K tuneup. Turkey is in the brine, beer fridge is stocked & am enjoying one of the great seasonal ales on the patio while listening to Sounds of the Season . I'm not drunk yet, but getting there. Love and peace to all you farging bastages. May you all have a lovely Thanksgiving, but if by chance anyone ends up in the ER with fresh puncture wounds hey...the details are important.

  16. Funny enough, if I take Bryant and Saban out of Bama's historical record, their winning percentage is only slightly higher than Hermans. Whats your point?

  17. Surly now: probably not. Surly after reading $9.95 August practice reports: 10-2, lose to Alabama and one of either TCU/Okie State/West Virginia, beat OU.

  22. Aggy are so ridiculous. They're 8-3 and we're 4-7 and they STILL have an inferiority complex. Our idiot coach says something hypothetical about where we need to be in year 3 or 4 and of course it's a dog whistle mocking them. Those bumpkin fucks are too insecure to even gloat properly while we're losing to Kansas and missing bowl season. Sark said what about our fighin' Texum aggies, rabble, rabble! Buncha dipshits.

  23. This is what I can't get my head around. I don't see that as "justice." We have laws that as a society we've chosen to create that define "justice" (for better or worse). Rape or other violence meted out in prison is simply another crime committed.

  24. @Helobious, @Ravishing Rick and @Beau Vine, here's your 100% sunshine-pumping-free review of last week's Westlake/New Braunfels game. Last week, a disrespected, scrappy, ragtag team of misfits from Westlake faced off against a much faster and stronger New Braunfels team. Given little chance of winning, the Chaps had nothing other than their belief in each other. With their head coach sick in the hospital, the team turned to an unlikely hero to lead them. One of the fathers, a former failed athlete himself that had lost his self-confidence and the respect of his wife and family, took over, though he had no experience coaching at any level. The game started like all the others, with the Chaps quickly falling into a hole due to in-fighting with players who come from different backgrounds and don't understand what everyone has gone through, plus some unlucky plays and hopelessly biased refereeing. The crowd, plus the board of trustees, who are led by a woman who is planning on disbanding the school entirely to build a hotel on the grounds, was snickering at the hopeless play before them. The New Braunfels coach and his mean son, who is angry bully, taunted the Chaps and the father, who was looking like a failure to his family again. As the halftime bell sounded, the crestfallen team trudged to the sidelines. With nothing to lose and the Chaps in a hole, the father overcame his bias against girls playing sports and put his daughter in at QB. The team left the locker room with a renewed sense of purpose and energy. With nothing to lose and no-one believing in them, the Chaps pulled all out all the stops and left it all on the field. As the Westlake girl QB made incredible play-after-play, the formally hostile crowd began chanting, "Westlake, Westlake, Westlake." Finally, with one more chance to pull out the victory, the coach's daughter scrambled until the clock ran out, then heaved the ball into the end zone, where the shortest, most bullied Chap of them all, made an incredible catch to seal the victory. As the team carried him off the field, the crowd rose as one to salute the inspiring effort of the team. In a surprising turn, the New Braunfels coach and his son congratulated the father and his daughter, who even got a kiss from the cute running back. Moved by the inspiring effort, the coach's wife stood up and cheered, and she texted her lawyer (who has been trying to win her hand) to cancel her divorce proceedings. Enraged by the surprising outcome, the mean woman on the board ranted that it was too late to save the school. Fortunately, the other trustees finally stood up to her and fired her on the spot. As the Chaps celebrated their unlikely victory, the father, his wife and daughter embraced on the field. Stay tuned for a sequel, as our disrespected heroes face an even mightier Valley team, Pharr-San-Juan-Alamo-North-Southwest-Goliad-Refugio-Bastrop-Tuesday-San-Antonio.

  26. Two full days at the family ranch outside of Gonzales for T-giving. 17 people under one roof, including 7 kids between the ages of 3-16, one of whom is a 14 year old girl recently released from a mental hospital for being suicidal. Just found out that my BIL is bring his morbidly obese girlfriend -- the one who once drove around the ranch chasing him with a gun (allegedly) after she found out he was cheating on her. Normally, I would expect drunken fighting between my wife, her sister and their mother in some triangulation, but having the girlfriend out there introduces a new dynamic into the mix. It's going to be a shitshow either way. Not looking forward to this, at all.

  32. Trump was/is absolutely a fascist, using any of the ways fascism is defined or observed by academics who study it. The difference between Trump and 20th century European fascists was his exceptional incompetence and a longer tradition of democracy here than Germany, Italy, or Spain had, not in the actual characteristics of fascism.
