Weird that it’s not 100% of Longhorn fans and posters wanting see Maalik ball out and do as well as possible in place of an injured Quinn who will be out for who knows how long. It’s mainly a lot of people wanting to be right. Who gives a shit if you’re right. It won’t win us games. What if Maalik is as good as Quinn? What if he throws a better long ball? Or what if he’s just going to do the best he can in Quinn’s place bc he’s a good Longhorn and teammate and leader and that he’s a backup and not the starter for a reason? It doesn’t matter which answer is correct. He’s a backup for a reason (whether it’s ability or Sark’s choice or both) and he’s going to go out there and do the best he can and I hope he balls out and we don’t lose any games while Quinn is getting better. People seem awfully punchy and threatened by Maalik doing well. Why is that? Quinn got a lot of well deserved criticism because he was erratic and he admitted he wasn’t taking things as seriously as he should have last year. He’s done a complete 180 on exercise, changing his diet and in his words “getting into the playbook more” (which is something he did not do last year and it was obvious and despite his age is a reason for the fair criticism of him.) Quinn is playing lights out for the most part this year. Why anyone is threatened by Maalik coming in and balling out is beyond me. I want both Quinn and Maalik to ball out in any game they play in and I should think if you care about winning and UT football you shouldn’t give two fucks which QB is balling out. Hope Quinn heals swiftly and it’s not a major setback for him and that Maalik can stay healthy and ball out until Quinn comes back. Also hoping bc teams won’t have a whole lot of knowledge of Maalki’s full abilities that it works in our favor for the next few games at least. if for some reason, there becomes a real QB controversy down the road then fine people will absolutely and expectedly jump into their respective camps or stay in the ones they were in already. But that’s down the damn road if that were to happen. Hook’em! 🤘🏼19 points

I think I finally learned to accept that that behavior is normal to them. It is just that our minds can’t accept the fact that how they think could be normal. To some extent our refusal to believe what’s right in front of our face is a problem for us.11 points

I know these people. Not literally, but I can make an educated guess. They live in Marion. He works for his Dad’s insurance office in Cedar Rapids, but it isn’t going very well. He walked beans for his great uncle once in 1993 and likes to tell people he “basically grew up on the farm”. After 5 Busch Lights (which he incessantly refers to as “Lattes”), he likes to comment about how he doesn’t understand why everyone hates Nickleback, because they “fucking rip”. She’s a dental hygienist. Grew up in Oelwein. They met on the dance at floor at Sharky’s in Cedar Falls when she was going to UNI and he was living in an apartment in Waterloo, selling weed but telling everyone he went to Hawkeye CC. She was kinda going through a black dude phase but wasn’t sure how her folks would react, and hey, this guy’s dad had a little cash. So she settled. She’s yelled “No laws when you’re on the Claws!” at least 25 times today. She was in a pyramid scheme based around selling dildos about 10 years ago and still uses “business owner” to describe herself on social media. Their kids, Hayden and Kaizeleigh, are assholes.10 points

From a poster on IT The refs are not to blame (or shouldn't be, at least), for our loss to OU nor any suboptimal performances like against UH. However, seeing the Houston Cougars, who were a 80-90th ranked team in terms of penalties coming into last week, only get hit with one accepted penalty for 15 yards (the result of a helmet being ripped off)... I decided to at least take a look. Here are some facts to do with what you will: There have been 6 games refereed by Big 12 crews this year (all different crews) In every single game, Texas' opponent has recorded fewer penalties and penalty yardage than their average in other games Texas' opponents are averaging 85% more penalty yards per game and 58% more penalties per game against non-Texas opponents Taken in aggregate, the average Texas opponent giving up only 23.5 penalty yards per game would rank 2nd in the country, only 0.5 yards behind Army (23.0 yards/gm) 3rd would be Michigan at 24.9 (a full 1.4 yards more); 8th in the country would be Temple, at 35.4 (a full 11.9 yards more) Said differently, when playing Texas, opponents (all of them) are averaging 12 yards fewer penalty yards/gm than the 8th best team in the country at mitigating penalties No single opponent has had more than 30 yards of accepted penalties. That means the most-penalized single opponent outing would still be 6th in the country if it was their season-long average. Said differently, every single game has resulted in fewer penalty yards than the 6th best penalty team in the country averages In aggregate, the average Texas opponent giving up 3.3 penalties per game would rank 4th in the country (Army at #1 is averaging 2.9) Texas' opponents are better on average than the FBS average for penalties, but the fact that all of them are combining for it (and beating their non-Texas average) is statistically improbable Caveats: This does not account for declined penalties, of which there are surely some. I'm just not going to do that work. Of course some penalties, such as false starts or delay of games, are non-judgement calls. However, their average yardage per penalty is almost 20% higher in non-Texas games -- this could imply that there are more judgement-related long penalty fouls, such as holding and DPI, being called against them in non-Texas games You could also claim that Texas doesn't put its players in a position to draw penalties as well as other the other teams our opponents played. But, given the weakness of our opponents' non-Texas schedules, plus the strength of our D-line and receivers... that seems... unlikely.10 points
