  1. Someone on 247 reported this, re: Juice Wells ... "Georgia On3 and South Carolina On3 believe Texas is the destination. Georgia On3 added Texas is receiving a ton of interest from portal receivers but can’t take them all. "

  5. I'll quote you becuase it's convenient, but this message is for every single one of you fuckers that's been arguing with numbnuts the past few pages: It's fucking GRUHorn. Stop wasting everyone's time, it's just giving him an erection. The dude's account was created on Nov 8 and immediately started posting in the inflation and crypto thread. If you want to keep piling on, by all means, but at least know who the fuck you're arguing with.

  6. I am not a UT alum or fan, but the “tsip” thing pisses me off. It comes from their false military institution image, that they were off fighting wars while UT students were sipping tea. 600+ former Longhorns, including two dozen active Longhorn athletes, were killed during WWII. Every other school in the nation had students, faculty, and staff that died for their country in WWII. To derisively refer to UT, or anyone else, as tsips, spits on the grave of those that died. The blood of aggy spilled in WWII is not more or less heroic than any other American. It’s stolen valor. And it’s disgusting.

  19. Look at this fucking guy again. Shocked face I tell you. The article is even worse than the headline. “Regardless, it appears as though Manning is running out of patience sitting on the bench as the third-team quarterback and it appears to be a longshot that Manning returns to the Longhorns.”

  22. I will never, ever, ever get tired of seeing this pic posted (and have posted it a few times myself). So if you ever want guaranteed rep from me, post this. Almost too beautiful/glorious/enticing for words. Assuming there's no photographer or any parasitic agents or whatever there (and, obviously there are, of course) I would give my middle nut to be the third wheel there. Seriously. Let me use it one last time and I'm good. That's really all I'll ever need it for again. Disclaimer: if my wife comes across this post somehow - doubtful, but you never you know - I was CLEARLY hacked. I would CONSIDER blaming SydneyCarton, closetojumping, HenryJames, NoName, and few others but it's CLEARLY that Mailbox357 fucker's fault and he should be drawn and quartered for this offense. I just hope they can find a rack large enough for Ketch's ginormous ass. Maybe they can Blood Eagle him instead

  26. In an earlier career stop, I had a female aggy “peer” in a department we worked with frequently. We had a group meeting one morning and she walked in late and says “Good morning Brownwater, your hair’s getting thinner.” I glance up from my computer and say “You’re not.” Room goes quiet. My team still giggles about it today even though we’ve all moved on or retired.

  30. The University of Texas had a plan ready to implement to improve the State of Texas for this and future generations by opening a research campus in Houston. Legislators and the University of Houston whined so much due to selfish tribalism that we scrapped it. The idea that we should play nice by scheduling such babies is absurd. There is only one public university system in Texas devoted to being an excellent academic institution and benefiting all citizens of the state. The small-minded idiots associated with the lesser institutions have never played nice with UT despite UT's efforts to play nice. So fuck 'em.

  31. It's fucking insane to me that leftists are refusing to acknowledge this simply because they don't like Biden. He adopted a ton of progressive economic policies that they championed and those policies fucking worked! More income is going to those on the lower economic rungs than we've seen in my fucking lifetime. Unions are bouncing back, even despite SCOTUS' efforts to destroy them. Workers have more bargaining power and a better labor market than they've had since the 1960s, if not even earlier. And it's pretty clear now that inflation was primarily supply-chain driven, as a lot of progressive economists argued, and now that supply chain problems have generally been worked out (with help from Biden admin policy) inflation has been beaten. This is all proof that progressive economic policies work. Yeah, shit is far from perfect. Prices for most goods won't actually come back down (absent a recession), because that's not how it works. Housing prices are still too high in most places people want to live, but that's not really something that can easily be addressed at the federal level. And healthcare costs are their own monster. But for fuck's sake, the left's position should be "look at us, we were right about this shit! Yes, there's much more to do, and we have answers for those problems too!" As recently as five years ago, the idea that we'd ever see an American labor market that was this good for workers again was unthinkable. It absolutely infuriates me how many so-called progressives are ready to throw away the progress they've made because they can't even recognize it.

  32. There's something else here, and I think people like you miss it for whatever reason. Maybe you don't do your research, I don't know. When you have an online forum, whether it be twitter or a message board or whatever, well in the case of something like Surly, it's a bunch of mostly 30-somethings to 50-somethings farting around, blowing off steam about this or that team or sport, and just being funny or trolling each other or talking about common interests. Many/most of us in real life are not like our online personas - for instance, you could go with Nicole to a Rainey Street bar and not wind up face down in Town Lake (unless you fucked around). Elon and Twitter? That is him. Both because he's making the comments that he does under his real, verified name, but also because he echoes a lot of his online postings in interviews and videos. When he veers into promoting somebody that's antisemitic or amplifying a batshit racist conspiracy theory by retweeting, responding to, or quoting somebody, he's putting his name on that. When he's promoting some dumb fucking Qanon pizzagate bullshit, he's putting his name on that and telling you that he believes it. He's wanting to get the likes and draw out the idiots and get them to praise him. And if you say "he's just providing a platform for everybody and believes in free speech", well you're wrong (and not just because his fanbois don't understand the 1st Amendment). When he unbanned all of the white supremacists and antisemites and conspiracy nuts, at that one moment in time, he could claim that he was just providing a platform and that he believes in absolute free speech. When he allowed them to bug their moms to give them $8 a month to be verified, at that moment, he started down the path of supporting and amplifying them, because he made a policy change that allowed them some legitimacy that they did not have before. When he quotes, responds to, likes, or retweets an antisemite or a batshit conspiracy theory, he is doing so as @elonmusk, owner of Twitter, CEO and partial owner of Tesla, and partial owner of SpaceX, and he is amplifying that person or that message or that conspiracy theory to his 165 million followers. You don't get to say, and he doesn't get to say "that's not who Elon Musk is" because he literally put his name and face on whatever it is that he liked or retweeted or responded to and he amplified it to his 165 million followers. He could respond to or retweet the antisemite shit or the batshit Qanon conspiracy crap with an anonymous account and nobody would be the wiser, but he doesn't. He does it as @elonmusk, because he needs those likes and retweets.
