No but see the Attorney General is threatening legal action, you know, based on (gesturing wildly) like laws and stuff

Its never going away. We have a lot of dumbasses. Russia knows how to reach them. Birtherism and Jade Helm predate Trump. Sleepy Joe bullshit will postdate him. Russia will never let us have a functional country because we don't have the balls to stop them.

FUCK YOU ultra right wing motherfuckers. If this were a Latino or black mob confronting this officer's house, the Republican idiots would be calling for a full out SWAT assault on the people. Right wing nutjobs with AR15s would descend on the town looking to lynch people. But since it's crazy fucking suburban Trump idiots, then these people are patriots fighting tyranny. FUCK YOU!

I think a lot of these politicians don't understand how the free market works. Trump and company saying they are going to open up the economy is basically this...

50 Cent Rap GIF

Yep. Military escort is gonna show up at your door. Escort you at gunpoint to work at the office instead of at home, make you have dinner out, and then make you have drinks at the bar after.  Forced capitalism.

Whats really going to happen though is that they want to pull the unemployment rug out from under restaurant and retail workers. So they will have to work. They haven't yet figured out that the restaurants and stores are going to be empty for the next couple months, open or not.  So businesses go bankrupt, and right back to unemployment, but now with no covid stimulus backstop.

Its really the overarching problem with GOP economic theory. They are unable to ever think of anything except supply.  Tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy and it will trickle down to the people. Force businesses to open during a pandemic and the people will come.  Really, they can't even grasp the idea of demand.  Its a foreign concept.  Which is crazy considering the fact that our economy is built entirely on consumption.

No, but a quick search shows his office just north of LBJ at the Tollway & Spring Valley.  Called his number, was going to see if I could get a quote for the story we're running in tomorrow's Springfield Post Gazette, but no answer.  Go figure

Huh? Link? Literally no one has said that about herd immunity and I think I see your 10% claim - it was one poster that’s been pulling numbers out of his ass since the start of this thing.

That's Dixon Hur, if I recall correctly.  Perhaps we could get our resident expats to prepare a FAQ for some go-to jurisdictions (Czech Republic, Canada, New Zealand, etc.).  If the voter suppression works in 2020, it feels like a lot of us are going to be looking at options - and no time like the present to do a bit of research, just in case.

Correct.

I started thinking about moving when Trump was elected, but thought maybe I was overreacting so I gave him a shot.  Based on conversations with others in the Austin bubble of sanity and listening to the GOP leadership talk shit about him during the primary, I honestly thought the public, and the GOP would hold him in check.

Obviously I could not have been more wrong.

I used to travel to Prague a lot and had even started taking Czech classes at UT before all this started, so it seemed like a natural landing spot...although the language bit has proven trickier than I thought.  But I digress...

Based on what I was seeing in the stock market, I expected a crash so I sold my house and moved to trailer on a friend's property in rural Kentucky while I applied for my visa.  Needless to say, living in Trump country only served to strengthen my resolve to leave.  Coming from Austin, it was eye opening to say the very least.

Anyway, I used a company called 4Expats  who helped me figure out which type of visa to apply for, and walked me through every step of the process.  I'd assume there are similar services for any country you'd want to move to.

The visa process itself was painfully slow...took almost 9 months from the initial call...so it's best to plan ahead.

I'm so happy that I was able to get out before all this shit went down.  It's hard to describe how different the approach by the government, and citizenry has been here compared to what I see and hear is going on back in the US.

I'm sure there's no politics in that thread though.

You should see the morons we have on Orangebloods. It's gotten nearly unreadable (I'm sure many here will say it already was). Here's a post from tonight that's got around 10 likes:

More pics of the nurse that ran out of fucks to give.  Props to the troll game by her friend, too.  (The people woke up one day, put on a costume and drove to town to yell at nurses.  What is wrong with these fucking people?)

"When they inevitably contract Covid-19 and transmit it to their loved ones, Lauren will be one of the first faces they will see when they are admitted to the ICU. She may also be one of the last faces that they ever see," Saeed said in his post.

That's about as close as you can get to polar opposites in Americans without involving race.

Here's an anecdote:

I spoke with 2 PA's in Dallas a couple of nights ago that said they are absolutely not allowed to test everyone.  They don't have the quantity of tests needed and have been ordered to save them for only extreme cases, which helps explain our relatively low state totals.  One said she straight up had to turn someone away who she was 100% sure had it, but didn't exhibit the proper symptoms.

This will be fine I'm sure.

I ~got in trouble~ recently for ordering a test on a polytrauma patient that arrived intubated because I didn't consult with our infectious disease team first. We had no social or medical history on this person when they arrived, so, you know, I figured I'd try to find out whether or not we were admitting a patient with COVID-19. But I didn't pick up the phone to page a resident first while this patient was crashing..

assuming we keep SIP this “stringent” in some places, over/under on it taking a month before we start seeing armed protesters at hospitals?

Perhaps it could happen in a place like Idaho but I think that the protest organizations will understand that going after healthcare workers will come across poorly. They're the heroes of America right now, so politicians are still the best enemy.

EDIT: I never understand why people push law enforcement into a corner. "What are you going to do if I don't leave?"  That question puts the cop into a situation where an arrest is almost all but certain unless the person backs down quickly. The police have to answer that you will be arrested if you don't comply right now, and they have to follow through on that comment.

I agree, but give it some time. Teachers that protest are now treated scornfully w/o much discussion about the topic with which they are upset. Health care workers in hospitals and other care facilities, IMO, have some worthy topics over which to be protesting, but were they to do so, I expect any discussion would quickly be reframed to blame them for their situation. If more healthcare workers begin counter protesting, even in a silent nonconfrontational way, the dialogue will be lost to the anger that arises against them.

From that article, it mentions BARDA being involved in the discussion to develop a low cost ventilator in the old contract from 2014. BARDA is where Richard Bright was employed before being transferred, correct? Weird how Tea Party driven cuts to spending back in those days have led to an even greater waste of money now. Those Tea drinkers have us drinking Kool-Aid and we'll like it or else.

You are thinking like a rational person. I don't think that works in this situation. That anger is channeled by the GOP to a purpose and across disparate groups. It's how Trump got elected in the first place. I don't think it should be ignored, but I also don't think the media should give it out-sized coverage as they've been doing. It plays into their hands plus gives it and Fox propaganda legitimacy.

What I love about these pics (aside from her being clearly out of fucks to give) are the ages of the people involved.  These nurses look to be in their 20's and 30's while the protestors are old whites named Karen and Larry.

This country will be fine in the future.

That's just how capitalism works in Trump Land. If you default on a loan of hundreds of millions dollars, it actually helps your credit and you qualify for an even bigger loan from the very same bank. Likewise, when you take taxpayer money and deliver jack shit, you get rewarded with a new contract.
