Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls

Wingo committed last weekend. Black committed in July or August, can't remember. Texas will keep recruiting both like nothing can be taken for granted, but there is a lot of focus on getting guys committed to other schools and just letting some things play out.
We've talked about Texas circling back on various DBs as the season moves forward. At this point, I think Myles Davis and Wardell Mack are going to get more attention than Gipson for various reasons. If ATM or Florida collapses in ways that either program could, that would be the guy I'd pick as the favorite.

Per some Florida On3 guy D'Antre told Florida he was going to come back for another game while he was on the visit but as of last night D'Antre told the same person he doesn't know if he'll make another game.

Message delivered message received.

Also, the replies from the Florida fans are the equivalent to surrender cobra.

No one.  That's their prediction 'algorithm'.  All of the RPM's from, presumably, living analysts, are for aggy.

When kids take visits that data point goes into the algorithm. Last year, when Abmas visited KSU 1st, they were like 95% likely to get him, because that was the only visit he had taken.

This is the culmination of what we were told this summer, that Sark and staff believe they were going to have a very good team and were wagering a lot, recruiting-wise, that they would get a huge return on that strategy if the team turned out to be as good as they thought it would be.

Sark knows that it Texas hits it out of the park on the field this year it's going to be katy bar the door re: recruits wanting to commit.

Sounds like maybe our coaches had a come to Jesus meeting with him.

Kids can be flakey. Hell, adults can be, too.

Cruz needs some syrup with all of those pancakes

The play that begins at :24 ... when it's over it looks like Cruz is standing over that poor kid and saying "I'm going to pick you up off the ground but don't you bring that weak shit in my house anymore."  And the kid was whimpering and saying "Please don't hurt me, mister!"  That was public child abuse.

This. It's gotta be humiliating for the same guy to plant you in the turf, belly flop onto you and then give you a hand up.

What's funny about the second play in particular is that you can see Cruz look at the guy before the snap like he's thinking - "This motherfuckers' soul is about to leave his body."

Not to mention carrying over into the winter/spring/summer for the 25' class, which is absolutely loaded in-state.

D'Antre Robinson said he isn't sure what he told On3's Florida guy about telling Florida he wasn't sure if he'd make it to another game.

Sounds like the kid is maybe trying to find reasons to stay close to home. That's fine, kid. Shit or get off the pot so that everyone can move on accordingly. Quit being an idiot.

Daniel Cruz is going to be a good one

This young man believes in being thorough about his work and playing to the echo of the whistle.

My high school coach called that finishing move "goring them when they are down" which seems particularly appropriate for a future Horn

Maybe the kid likes getting $500 to $1,000 to go to football games where he is treated like a VIP.

That short term $$ and fun can be very enticing to anyone, much less a 17 year-old who thinks that he can sneak out of the house without his parents knowing about it.

My guess is that he is/was having a difficult time processing that actions can have consequences when money & fun are being dangled in his face several states away from where “his football parents” are at the moment.
