Gottdam window salesmen - at least once a week the doorbell rings followed by several knuckle raps on the door.
“I am not selling windows, but notice you have the older builders windows”
”We are just in the neighborhood and are offering free inspections to see if you would benefit from new windows”

Went through this recently. Their estimates are insane.

Anderson wanted like $40k. Window World did that shit for 6.

My neighbor got a quote from Anderson for $85K to replace their windows. We have the same house / layout and replaced ours with shitty Simonton windows for $21K.

$40K, $85K... The hell?!  Anderson quoted us $140K for our windows.  Definitely a shakedown, and did the whole pressure sales pitch: "This discount dies at midnight, and you're not eligible for another 12 months for a discount, so enjoy full price."  Safe to say I'll be using anyone but Renewal by Anderson.

The gym I go to is in a development with a long parking lot running horizontal to the main road. One end (exit) has a double striped yellow line and the other (entrance) has a left turn lane.

Probably 75 percent of the time I’m stuck behind a dipshit turning across the  double stripe instead of using the turn lane.

The cameras in the parking garage at the airport that are supposed to tell you whether there are spots open or not. I don’t understand why the green ones are wrong 90% of the time. The technology cannot be that difficult to decipher if there is a car in the spot or not.

Also, airlines should not be able to delay a flight and then undelay it less than half an hour before boarding.

Those damn green and red LEDs in those parking garages are completely useless for 10% of the male population who, like me, can’t see the difference.

People who back into parking spots are compensating for something.

How many times have we had this debate? Unless it’s a herringbone parking lot, it’s the safest way to park, and unless you’re 16-yo Mazie driving mom’s Expedition XL, it’s just as fast.

I sat in a parking spot this afternoon while a jagoff in a pickup waited for the car next to me to leave.    So I couldn't go anywhere.   Then, once the car left, asswipe proceeded to back in.  I got to sit there for even longer because Small Penis needed to park in the "safest way"?

HEB lots often have assholes backed into herringbone spots and then try and leave the wrong way.   Is there an insane amount of parking lot accidents that I don't know about?  I've been driving for almost 40 years and I have yet to get into an accident in a parking lot.   I can't even remember the last time I saw someone hit another parked car.

Want to park in the safest way?   Park in the back of the lot and walk your ass a few feet further.   I normally do that and was reminded today why I do so.

It’s not really debatable. Except in directional parking lots, it’s the safest way. One of the myriad resources is linked below.  Every significant oil and gas and transportation company requires it for that reason. I was drilled on it many times in my time with Unocal and Chevron.

https://www.usafireprotectioninc.com/why-reverse-parking-or-forward-first-parking-is-safer/

I don’t care about steps.  Well, actually I do.  I’ll intentionally park in far corners of lots to get more steps.  The first-move-forward parking doesn’t save steps.

It does save lives, and could have saved my 2-yo cousin’s life if his mom had backed into the garage when she parked instead of over him when she was leaving.

Mrs. Doom and I have diametrically opposed opinions on spiders in the house.

I view them as welcome tenants who earn their keep (and the right to peacefully exist) by eating all the other bugs, especially the many insect intruders in our basement (house centipedes fucking suck...) My attitude is that if the spiders are getting plump, then business is good, and proof-positive of the benefit they bring to the household.

Mrs. Doom doesn't agree with any of that - zero tolerance for any bugs, though she's squeamish enough that she doesn't even kill them - they just become my problem to deal with.

So whenever I'm alone and I encounter a spider friend boldly chilling out in plain view, I remind them that if they want to stick around, they need to do a better job at remaining concealed.

But they hardly ever listen, the dumb little assholes. I gave multiple reminders throughout the day yesterday, but Mrs. Doom saw two last night, and so I had to escort them both outside because they just wouldn't follow the terms of our agreement.

It's like how you go from benevolent and concerned when you first notice another driver without their headlights on, so you flash your brights a few times, and then when they don't get the hint, you instead become irate with them for being such goddamn morons. Maybe those cars are being driven by spiders?

I would rep this 10 times if I could.

I can't remember the last time I killed a spider. I have like a borderline autistic fascination with spiders. I think they're super cool and they don't bug me at all (no pun intended). I've had some absolute honker wolf spiders in my bedroom within the past year and I either let them chill or rehome them outdoors.

Team spider. I also try and leave bees alone.

If you are a cockroach, mosquito or wasp however I have a license to kill and you better escape while you can.
