Personally, I'd like them to breeze past Auburn this coming weekend.  Increase their overconfidence.  Raise that roller coaster to new heights.   I refuse to be overly confident about this game like I was with UGA, but I have seen aggy choke so many times when they get into games like this, and it always seems they went into each of those games feeling they had "this one, this year" locked down.  Only to be dashed on the rocks again.

Wonder if listeater's kid was in that ticket pull line.

Yeah probably...if they lose this week they'll ONLY be worried about ending Texas' season if they can...probably be dirty too(I know I know, aggy would never cheat).

But beating up on Auburn will have them whooping and hollering and saying how they're going to show texas!

Dear BWEB4: It's because your money is spread over your diploma mill. Dilutes the effect. A Lambo in Malfunction Junction, what a charming thought. Who will teach the driver how to drive the thing. Imagine a sheep in a Lambo.

Agree that I don't want to see A&M lose to Auburn. I would be laughing if they do, but Texas could use a win against a top 20 team prior to facing Bama in the SEC championship team. and if we lose to A&M, then we're not as good as we thought in the first place.

Fuck them.  I want them to lose every game

It's a 50/50 proposition.  A&M loses to Auburn, I laugh.  A&M beats Auburn, elevating their own hype, and then loses to us, I laugh.

I like laughing.  Don't care.

As long as we beat UK & A&M to get to Atlanta IDMAS to me what they do in the meantime.

Power ranking the SEC after week 12: #13 - Auburn
It’s not much of a measuring stick, but would you believe me if I told you that Auburn just had a more efficient offensive performance against Louisiana-Monroe than Texas did?

That would probably muddle some conceptions of each team, but I think it speaks to the fact that Auburn has the talent to put some impressive play together on offense—they just have been patently unable to do so thus far in the year, for whatever reason.

This kept Auburn’s bowl hopes alive, if just barely. The Tigers have games remaining against Texas A&M and Alabama, both of which they’d have to win to get to .500. That’s a tall order if there ever was one.

Of course, they get the Aggies at home at night this upcoming week. You can bet that Jordan-Hare will be rocking for the final home game of the year in 2024 as the Tigers try to play spoiler. As long as they get out of their own way, they might be able to do just that.

Power ranking the SEC after week 12: #9 - Arkansas
The Hogs had a chance to knock off Texas this week, but they simply didn’t make the necessary plays. They dropped some interceptable balls and turned the ball over themselves multiple times. Those things swing a game hugely.

They took advantage of the Longhorns’ lack of ability to defend the run, stacking up an eye-popping 69% success rate on the ground, and held the Longhorns to a lowly 40% overall success rate themselves. They played like the better team down in and down out, but in the crucial moments of the game, they were not the team making the plays.

It didn’t help that Ja’Quinden Jackson is clearly still dealing with an injury. Maybe if the Hogs were at 100% in their backfield, things would have looked a little different—but then again, it wasn’t for lack of an ability to run the ball that the Hogs lost this one.

Sam Pittman’s crew just needs to beat Louisiana Tech this week to get to bowl eligibility, but a win at Missouri would be quite the cherry on top for this year. We’ll see if they have the mojo for that big road win.

Power ranking the SEC after week 12: #8 - Texas

This is not the number three team in the country. Texas surrendered a 47% success rate to Arkansas while managing only 40% themselves on the road. Three of the Longhorns’ last four games have been their three worst of the year, with the home game against Florida’s third-stringer being the lone outlier.

That’s what I mean when I say this is a team trending in the wrong direction. Looking at all of the data laid out in front of you, there’s a clear trend with things over the last few weeks.

Texas has had the benefit of the easiest schedule in the SEC, but they’re still beginning to sink nonetheless. What was supposed to be the best offensive line in the nation looks incapable of moving any competent DL off of the ball and has struggled in protecting a quarterback who continues to make questionable decisions.

It’s lucky for the Longhorns that their defense has been playing so well on paper, but there are warning alarms blaring there as well. They’ve been opportunistic so far this year, but allowing these high success rates—both UF and Arkansas notched 47%—will bite you at some point.

SEC teams this year that have allowed more than a 46% success in a game average allowing 30 points to opponents; Texas has allowed 17 and 10 in those games. They’re skating by right now, in other words, but that can’t last.

Power ranking the SEC after week 12: #4 - Texas A&M
The Aggies started off gangbusters with their full complement of personnel in what was admittedly a game against an overmatched opponent. After a completely red-hot start, though, A&M cooled off for a bit.

Of course, that period of cooling corresponded with the Ags significantly paring down the personnel they were using, especially at the running back spot. Amari Daniels, after racking up an explosive 5 rushes for 84 yards, was promptly encased in bubble wrap and stored in a cool, dry place where he will safely remain until the Ags leave for Auburn this weekend.

Though things felt like a slog for some of this game, this was still a pretty dominant win, statistically speaking. That’s what you’re supposed to do when you’re a team ranked in the top 15, and so the Aggies stick in their spot.

This next game against the Tigers will be no easy feat, and neither will the final contest against Texas. A&M will have to have their ducks in a row to take down both of those teams.

Well he's not wrong. aggy is gonna pressure the fuck out of ewers all night and it'll get ugly if ewers has his typical meltdowns under pressure.

WTF is a 'success rate'? We have the #1 ranked defense in the country. We have given up 12 TDs in 10 games. We have given up the least yards per game, and least yards per play in the county.

I guess I am failing to see all the successful plays offenses are getting.

In college football, success rate is a measure of a team's efficiency that determines whether a play was successful based on the down, distance, and yardage gained. A play is considered successful if it meets the following criteria:

First down: 50% of the necessary yardage
Second down: 70% of the necessary yardage
Third and fourth down: 100% of the necessary yardage

Big plays are the 3-pointers of football - Football Study Hall
The success rate is calculated by dividing the number of successful plays by the total number of plays. Plays on first, second, and third downs typically have a success rate of around 40% to 45%.
According to Football Study Hall, winning the efficiency battle, which is measured by success rate, results in a team winning 83% of the time.

WTF? Read your first response. aggy offense is averaging 35 points at home this year. Their worst effort was 13 against Notre Dame (with wiggerman).

Our D is good, but we aren't shutting them out. I doubt we hold them under 15. Holding them to 3 is a pipe dream.

i don’t care about “success rate” when we win by 10 and give up 82 yds rushing 2.4 ypc to a good running team.

game was close for about 5 min in the 3rd and then we shut the hogs back down.

Dude it was a joke - of course the score isn’t going to be 3-0. I was referencing your remark about it getting ugly. Our defense is better than any they have seen. You expect them to beat us so bad it’ll get ugly. We can lose but it won’t be ugly except losing of course. But if it was 3-0 win for the horns I would be happy but wtf happened.

I think it'll be a close game. This game means more to them than the health of their children. They will be playing dirty and I don't expect any help from the refs.

I never predict or bet on the score at pyle field, regardless of team records. They scored 29 on our 2005 MNC defense and they went 5-6 that year. Last time we held them under 15 points was 2001 and the last pyle field shutout was 1961.

This is the game right here. Their plan will be to do what Georgia did. We can argue in the chat room til the cows come home, but if it works it will be a rough night for the O.

Hopefully we have a better plan than vs UGA.

And still, the big majority of the time, the better team wins.  It's the OU series that is riddled with upsets.

If the refs pick up a flag that place might explode. If the flag pickup has ramifications in the game holy shit. They would storm the field and chase down the refs.

Of course their defense will make some plays against us. My thought is that our defense is playing with chip on shoulder right now and will make life hell for them. All they’re hearing about is Texas is no good because of our offense.  They’ll be out to prove a point this game. And I think they will. T. green for Arkansas with those wrs scared me more than aggy qb and wrs. If aggy can’t run us over they’ll be in trouble. Tough game but defense travels.

How exactly is A&M going to score on us more than we score on them?  Y'all are being dramatic.

How exactly is A&M going to score on us more than we score on them?  Y'all are being dramatic.

If they are successful with the UGA pressure strategy, the same way UGA and their 3 int qb did - short fields and tired defense.

As I said above, I hope we have a better plan for pressure. Because if I was aggy I’d bring the house every play against us until we beat it. And maybe we will. Who knows.
