Well, I have kids and forced to have the Disney app so all good on my end since espn is on there. Just sucks no multiview.

Boy do I have the deal for you!!

Have you considered bundling the Hulu, ESPN and Disney + platforms?! With ESPN app you can watch multiview so long as the Texas game is on an abc/espn station!

Or for just 39.99 a month get the espn/fox one app so you’re covered! Not sure if multiview can be used

Fuck em.  I already paid-  I should get the service.
Let me out of the contract the next month, and I bet you fuckers would get your shit straight.

This is ridiculous. I’m tired of paying for streaming, it’s costing as much or more than cable was. I only have YTTV for Longhorns football. I turn it on for the season. I am almost ready to just go back to paying for tv. ESPN is trash if you watch a game.

Yes or the espn app with your Disney login.

Pretty sure this is wrong. ESPN app has two logins...one with your ESPN or Disney+ and one with your TV provider.   You'll get a big "not available with your provider" message for standard ABC and ESPN.

I have an ESPN+ sub. It looks like that is now considered ESPN Select. Currently paying $11.99 for it. They want $29.99 a month for ESPN Unlimited I’m not sure that includes ABC. Is ABC access by way of Disney app?

Man fuck this shit. Time to break out the antenna.

You'll only get the game on the ESPN app if you have the ESPN Unlimited subscription that you can bundle with Hulu & Disney+. I have it and the app is clunky and the quad view typically doesn't work well.

Heaven forbid these fuckers schedule their price increase and let the consumers make a real choice.

I'm on the road a ton for work.  Ain't no way I'm canceling with the wife being stuck at home so much.  Sancho needs something to watch...

Otherwise, I'd cancel it all besides internet.

1. If you are used to watching ESPN /ABC games on the ESPN app & you are NOT paying the $30 for ESPN Unlimited, you are able to do so because of your YouTube TV/DirecTV/Comcast subscription. As of now, that ability no longer works if you have YouTube TV. You basically will have no way through YouTube TV to watch any ABC or non ESPN+ games.

2. If you want to watch tomorrow’s Texas game, go buy a $20 TV antenna & hook it up to your TV. The game is being broadcasted on ABC and should be available Over-The-Air. It will actually be better video quality than most any streamer & you will have an antenna the next time this inevitably happens again. Note - depending on your TV setup, you may not have to ability to record/fast-forward/rewind/pause.

Literally just go to youtube and type x vs y live stream

I did this last week while I was in Guatemala and there were several working streams.  I made the locals watch real football.

I assume you can cancel ESPN Unlimited any time. Might have to do that to get through a football weekend or two.

These days I think you need to pay for the whole month, no proration. So yes you can cancel, but you’re paying $29.99 + tax even if you only want it for this weekend.

This part I'll disagree with. OTA is usually broadcast at 1080i. It's perfectly fine--awesome for a free option--but certainly a step down from 1080p or 4k.

3. If you stream it, stay off the game thread because you will get spoiled.

In fact, just avoid that cesspool of poo-flinging monkeys regardless.

Oh okay. I’ve only used the Disney app for espn and the espn app once this season and it’s when Texas was on sec+. Had to switch to Disney because the espn app was messing up. Was unaware of the abc problem.

The traditional cable/satellite bundle was a much better deal for sports fans than the fragmented streaming hellscape we have now.

The only upside for sports fans is how easy is it to cancel the streaming options - it costs nothing to do so and you don't have to jump through 17 hoops, sacrifice your first-born child and then return equipment that they'll later claim was never returned.

Only a CFB fan? You only need it from August to January. If you only really like football, add in February for NFL and that's it.  Easy as ass to sign up again later.

And sadly, you still get these kind of carrier fights with traditional cable/satellite.  DirecTV had issues with ABC/ESPN a few years ago and the easiest solution was a 1-month YTTV subscription until it was resolved.  Easiest cancellation ever.

And give up the most entertaining part of the game watching experience?

I think not.

I read it afterwards for the lulz, especially the middle pages where all hope is lost and we are doomed

No account necessary.

Oh noes… just went to the site and see a message I’ve never seen before. Maybe because there are no live North American sports right now? I only ever go to the site when there is content to stream.

Will report back when I need to 🏴‍☠️ the Nuggets Blazers game tonight. Fuck Altitude/the Kroenkes.

no idea how this all works but this season i've just been searching youtube for texas football and have streamed every game. I do not have any subscriptions

sometimes they seem to get shut down or stop working, but there are lots of them

i've also used the sling day pass once or twice before i figured that out, its like $5-6

I used this all season for MLB games.  Just change the dropdown box to American football.  I use a popup blocker and the first 2 times you open your specific game it will say it's unavailable or not working.  On the 3rd time it opens up and works.  Zero issues with my device.

I’ll just put it out there for folks if you’re planning on 🏴‍☠️the game tomorrow and mirroring to your TV, you’re going to have a bad time. I’ve done this a lot for Nuggets games and it is more pain than it’s worth and I stick to an iPad instead.

Get an antenna for the Texas game. You’ll be much happier with the stream. Plus if you’re a sports bettor, OTA is much closer to the odds updates than any internet delivered stream, YTTV inclusive.

Is that the game thread or the streaming game announcers?

Yeah it doesn't matter as much for me, I just load it up on my laptop and then mirror my laptop on whatever TV we're watching.

I have had to relocate temporarily for work and paused my DirecTV back home and been using YTTV. DirecTV is still a better product especially when it comes to premium channels. I have signed up for all the premiums on YTTV and, unlike DirecTV, the YTTV credential doesn’t give you access to use the Showtime/Paramount + app or the Starz app. There are fewer multiplexed channels too. Best thing about YTTV is the multiview option to watch up to 4 games at the same time. Thankfully my DirecTV credentials still work for the ESPN app. Not having access to all your team’s games if you don’t have every streaming service is a major downgrade from the cable/satellite bundle era.

Probably about 10 percent, but rarely any of the big network conference games.

I'm about to the point where I'll just find a sports bar if it's a game I really want to watch.

I'm tired having to jump through hoops for some bullshit football games.  I may just go full antenna and watch what it gets for free.

And football on TV has been my life for more wasted decades than I care to discuss. Except it wasn't so much of a waste until the last decade.

Incorrect.  You can't access ESPN or ESPN2 live content with just your disney login.

Yeah, if I could reliably run an antenna I would have already gone that direction.

Pro tip, living at the bottom of a deep hollar in remote Tennessee is bad for free TV viewing.

I had Directv and YTTV subscriptions until this morning. I read about YTTV/Google thinking they could fuck with Disney on a CFB weekend. Went into the app to cancel, they'd removed the "Manage Membership" option. Gone. On both my phone and in the app on my Apple TV. I had to use go to tv.youtube.com in order knock it out. Took me less than 5 minutes and felt great. I hope millions more do the same. In this blame game, I blame the company that is already raising pricing again and thinking that they can just shut off about half, or more than half, of the reason I subscribed in the first place.
