Trying to cancel AND get a refund, so I'm online waiting in queue for a chat agent. Started out 290-ish in line, down to 183 in like an hour.....fuck-em I'll wait, I have that tab open next to a couple of free streams of games I should be watching on YTTV. I'll miss the multi-view, but I've overcome greater first world problems in my life. I'll persevere.

I was about to switch from Fubo to YTTV last month, but Fubo gave me $70 off to stay until mid-November. Looks like I'll stick with Fubo again.

I'm fully cancelling Hulu immediately. This is just painful to use. The ESPN app also sucks shit. Works fine if you're using it as supplement to Youtube TV, terrible as a primary access point.

Lulz. Disney owns the content. YTTV is blockbuster. If they cant provide me with the content I want, it sure as hell isnt my fucking problem. Youtube sent me an email on Oct 30....

image.png.e970e933eedda7d2c5e9d3900e3f8ee0.png

that blue hyperlink is sending me to a portal to sign up for the disney bundle. They aren't trying to fix the problem that hard if they are happy to have me sign up with disney.

I'm sick of their fucking bullshit and relentless price increases. Its estimated Disney charges cable and streaming companies $10 per month per customer. YTTV charges me $90 per month for a bunch of garbage channels/stations i don't give a fuck about. You can say its not a alphabet problem, but we'll see when they lose a fuck-ton of subscribers. We all know they will cave, but I'm not paying them a nickel until they do cave. It now has zero value to me.

And done....took three hours, but they processed the refund. They made $100B in net income last year, I'm sure they will be fine.

What IPTV service are you using? I’ve used Smarters in the past and had zero complaints

Late reply but I'm using IPTVX using the theTVapp url on my Apple tv. Paid the $4 for this month and will see how it goes.  Nice by product is I now have HBO and Showtime for a month.

So why is it a Disney problem?

Because they openly don’t want to offer their content to providers. They’ve made clear they only want to offer their content on their platforms.

The value of platforms offering content from multiple creators and providers seems pretty obvious.

You sound like an old person. Wouldn’t it be great if we had to pay Disney directly for their stuff, and Fox directly for theirs, and paramount directly for theirs, and on and on and on.

why is that? Because I dont want to pay $90 a month for a service that has no value to me? How does age factor into that?

You probably have the bundle with ESPN+, not the ESPN unlimited bundle.   I'm in the same boat.  Watching ABC via OTA antenna, because I'm not rewarding Disney for fucking shit up during football season - especially after just raising prices.

easier said than done of course.

I strongly second this, although I know I’m not strong enough to do it

It's because y'all touch yourselves.

Had to walk my mother through this earlier. Assuming you're wanting to watch a game on ABC and have a Hulu sub, open/download the espn app on your TV, go to settings, click "login through tv provider," it'll give you a code. Use your phone or laptop and go to espn.com/activate. Enter the code and your credentials for hulu, then viola. Even espn customer service couldn't help my mom when she first tried purchasing a espn+ sub lol.

Yttv needs to drop their rate accordingly if there’s no Disney owned stuff.

I like YouTube TV. I like multi view, the unlimited library, the easy use, etc.  I have Sunday Ticket.

People can complain about the price increases but I paid $220 for AT&T U-verse the year before I canceled and got YTTV. Even at $90 a month, they've been saving me money while giving me the same content.

I'll wait this one out until the football season ends. Between an HD antenna, online streams, and friends' logins, I can manage. But I really hope YTTV breaks ESPN.

ESPN/ABC have had the highest rated games every single weekend lately. No matter how much they want to drive the app, lower ratings aren't gonna look good. Curious to see where the three big ABC games today end up in the ratings.

Got rid of my subscription last night. Looks like everyone I've talked to is going to Sling or Hulu

Fubos better than both. Sling doesnt have locals besides very limited markets. Neither have multiview

Oh I get Disney's role in the enshittification of streaming, I just stated that its a YTTV problem, because they are the distributor that chose to no longer carry the product that I, and presumably plenty of others, wish to consume(live sports). There are still plenty of other cable/streaming options that offer ESPN should I choose to go that route, or I can pay Disney directly, or I can pirate shit. But it makes zero sense is continue to pay YTTV $80 a month when they can't deliver what I am paying them for, when they  send me an email telling me to subscribe directly to ESPN (but still pay them $80). I guess if refusing to pay Company A for shit I don't want, when I could instead buy from companies B,C,D,E, etc... and get what I want makes me an old, I'll pop a centrum silver. Imagine crying about google getting bullied.

Yes. Actually that is better. You can pay for the shit you want. Not a bunch of shit you don’t.

As the main reason most of us have YTTV is for the sports. They offer, used to, the best grouping of content.

I kind of think you don’t in this instance.

This is the owners(billionaires) and players(millionaires) arguing over revenue sharing when we just want to watch the games.

Who’s crying about Google getting bullied? You got upset that I said it was a mouse problem because it is. Monopolies are bad.

That ship sailed decades ago, and you could argue their monopoly (which is bad, I agree) is now weakening with the advent of streaming companies (Apple, Amazon, Netflix, etc...) with more financial muscle than the old broadcast networks getting into the live sports content game. But this current dustup has less to do with their monopoly and more to do with two companies flexing nuts while fucking over the customers in the process. Disney will win in this case because the loyalty will follow the content, not the pipe. Hence it being YTTV's problem. Im not sure we're even arguing the same thing, but whatever, I'm off to the card room.

The young’s don’t blink at pissing money away for no reason.  See doordash / ubereats etc.

Then they whine about why they’re so broke all the time.

Yeah, even finding the fucking game took a minute. I looked but have no idea if multi-screen is even possible.

YTTV offers that shit up when switching games and allows for "custom" builds.

I'm not sucking any YTTV ass but it's absolutely superior for sports.
