We all seen this outcome coming mid-season.

Exactly. I can't feel any level of meltdown because Sark told us this is what it was months ago.

We were going with the steady veteran hand until the bitter end.

did you see bama running sark's offense vs ohio state in the national championship?  mac jones put up numbers that quinn has never approached and then got drafted in the 1st round.  three times as efficiently would be more accurate.

Has nothing to do with the 5 nfl linemen he was playing behind. Or the 2 starting nfl running backs he handed off. Also, no way he had 2 starting nfl receivers to throw to.

the Mac jones comments are brain dead.

Never quite became what we expected him to be. Still had a really good career though we were left wanting something more from him. He will struggle heavily in the NFL. I appreciate him being a part of building this team back to where it belongs

The 2020 Alabama oline had one guy on it that has produced in the NFL, Landon Dickerson. Leatherwood was a historic bust and the others are all practice squad players at best. It wasn't some overbearing level of talent like yall think.

Here is what's going to happen. QE is going to go to the league and play well. Next year you guys will finally see what's going on.

I like you as a poster. Your defending of Quinn is weird with no background of where it comes from to me. But you are gonna catch a lot of flack if Quinn continues the play he shown this season anywhere else and Arch doesn’t absolutely shit the bed.

The problem is Quinn's just not a guy who's good enough to overcome that. VY won a ship under Mack with Greg Davis calling plays

You know what’s amazing is all of the qbs that have been dogged in this thread have similar stats to Quinn but Quinn played with lesser talent than them so he’s #1

You can disagree with me but sark has said it - pro style pocket passer thinks designed runs are too risky. He’s done it with arch some so maybe he will come around but he’s been adamant about what he wants in a qb and it’s not designed runs or the zone read.

Again, you don’t have to call a bunch of designed runs for them. But they need to be able to escape pressure to get rid of the ball or scramble and pick up a few yards consistently. Arch isnt just gonna sit in the pocket next season and not run

I would be fine with Arch sitting in the pocket next season versus panicking, ducking your head and moving to where the defensive lineman are and sacking yourself or fumbling.  Ewers didn't need to be a scrambler.  Shit, Dan Marino and Tom Brady couldn't run but they could move around within a pocket and throw the ball.   Ewers looked scared out there for much of the time.  Appreciate him being a Longhorn but totally glad he is gone.   Looking forward to a QB that isn't afraid of his own shadow.

im questioning sarks qb coaching skills. ewers has shown little improvement here

I get why you might think that, but go rewatch the OSU or Baylor games from ‘22 and tell me you don’t think Ewers has improved.

He has some serious limitations and fit issues in a pro-style offense, but he definitely has gotten better.

Arch is going to be a step back next year and not sure some of y’all are ready for that. 2026 should be sweet.

Are you going to blame the failures of a new OL, TE and defense on Arch too? What will be the metric to decide if it’s a step back? Points per game? Brain dead plays? Manning face?

Why do people keep suggesting that Quinn returned our program to relevance? He was an adequate QB that mostly allowed us to win the games we should’ve won with the overwhelming talent advantage we had all around him. A few times he came very close to destroying the upward trajectory of our program (see: aggy game). He played well against Bama and Michigan but he played average or below average in many other games.

Maybe we should start thanking Bert Auburn for back-to-back playoff appearances. Texas is better after Bert helped return us to prominence.

I think getting Quinn helped bring in some more talent and high profile recruits and transfers.

Oops, but one other is an nfl starter - Evan Neal. I’m not sure that takes much away from the talent level around Mac Jones.

Next year would be Arch's first year as a starter, so he is entitled to making mistakes. I don't understand what point Quinn fans are trying to make with the assertion that the offense will look worse next year. Don't compare a first year QB with a third year starter.

I agree with this. I hope that and the deep ball is the only missing piece - I am still very concerned about run game scheme, play calling, putting the QB in bad spots, pass on first down INC/run on second down predictability, and absurd situational awareness. But there’s no doubt - once Arch matures - he will be a better QB than Quinn. The question that remains is will that alone be enough to win it all - I think so because I think Arch will be transcendent.

It’s simply a reaction to “PUT ARCH IN NOW GODDAMMT.” Both are binary extremes.

Yep, second most annoying trait. Howard had 2-3 as well, but not 5.

100%

Quinn’s first season ended with a 58% completion rate and his next two he played us to the final 4. Sark definitely developed him, his ceiling was just more limited than the fans expectations.

Quinn can and will still get better. Look forward to watching him in the NFL.

you motherfuckers dogging on quinn dont remember having chris simms, garrett gilbert, case mccoy, david ash, tyrone swoopes, shane buechele, hudson card, and casey thompson as quarterbacks and it shows.

You know what though, none of those dudes are on the stadium. Only Vince and Colt. And now Ewers wont go up on the stadium. So I think it is reasonable to compare Ewers to the guys on the stadium and not the dudes who didnt reach the promised land.

This argument isn’t as good as you think it is. The greatest player in Texas Football history was a massive bust in the NFL.

I thought the goal was to win championships at Texas. None of those QBs could win it, and neither could Quinn. Just because we have had bad QB plays in the last decade or so, we shouldn't want the best? Is that the argument? Average to above average won't win us a title.

Look we can appreciate what Quinn did and respect what he helped the program achieve.
That doesn’t mean we can’t also see that he just wasn’t quite good enough.
Neither of those things has anything to do with Ewers as a person and no one (well other than one guy) is attacking him personally.
The goal is to win, he wasn’t good enough to do that. I wish him all success in the future and I am glad to be looking forward to someone else at the QB position.

Best Texas QB since Sam...

Guy just looks lost when he has to make a decision after the snap.  So many of his sacks and bad throws are from normal pressure, ie. 3+ seconds.

I really don't see him getting drafted on day 1-2, and it's hard to see him being successful in the NFL as a starter or even being a career backup.  He won't be returning to Fansville or Austin, but he should not enter the draft.

I have been saying this the last two years. Quinn is Simms incarnate. Their biggest failures came in the games that mattered most.

Simms also had a higher career winning percentage. He left UT as the second winningest QB in school history.

Just run the fucking ball from the 1 until you get in.

We can all agree the 2nd down call was insanity.  I was hoping for some kind of play action where the running back leaks wide into the end zone as we've done several times, but that toss sweep against a hyperathletic defense had all kinds of failure built into it.  It really was a shame, we were starting to move well on offense and the defense was starting to gel, too.

Hell, we outscored them in 3Q.  Who had THAT on their bingo card?

No shit right. The only good 3rd quarter we’ve played in like 8 games and we fucked it by being terrible in the 1st and stupid at the goalline

Yes we will. Because he will be a first year starter. If he’s making first year mistakes in year 3 that’s a different problem.

People will bitch about mistakes regardless, that’s how this works. But people won’t be ready for to move on from him unless he continually makes the same mistakes year after year.
This isn’t that hard to understand.

Whats your point even? That fans complain? Water is wet too, not sure if you’ve heard.

Quinn is Quinn. Time to move on. quinn has his flaws. He was a good QB, not great one. He never lived up to ridiculously high expectations, but VY and Colt are the only modern QBs to hit that level for Texas

Simms, Ash and Buechele had a better deep ball. Buechele is probably a better passer and fit for that offense.

Quinn helped “right the ship” post 5-7. Many forget he skipped his Senior (seasoning) year as a QB in HS to go to OSU. Very little actual plays, outside of practice, while at OSU he was really still like a true really hyped Freshman when he came to the 40.

Quinn helped rally the troops, get some better recruits, and started the foundation of where we are today. Remember when Bama came to Austin and he was lighting them up, prior to his sack/injury!

Each year at UT, healthy Spring/Fall camp showed improvements in Quinn, but each consecutive seasons involved injuries where he missed time/games. This year the oblique was worse than let on (no deep balls) and then the ankle. It wasn’t until the post season that he was almost 100%.

I wish him nothing but the best for his future playing career and thank him for what he did wearing the Burnt Orange!

Hook’em!!!

Apologies for my drunk rant re: QE last night.  I was out of line.  I can be critical without name calling.  That being said, thanks QE for helping bring Texas back.  I will be rooting for you going forward, unless you end up at aggy or somesuch.

What’s his draft grade now? I know at one point Milroe allar and beck were all ahead of him. 2 are back in college. Milroe has dropped. Is he gonna sqeak in the 1st?

I’m not sure Quinn is better overall than Simms.  It’s close

we ran Casey out of town and rightfully so. However he threw for 24 tds and 9’ints his only year as a starter.  Not that far from Quinns numbers while playing with less talent

It would be great if he is qb3.  I think he can get there

Cheers to Quinn. Great Longhorn

I think people would have been quite pleased with Beuchele in this offense.  Maybe Ash too.

Any comparison of Qb between Ewers and any others the past 15 years is not valid.  He’s the only one that got 3 years in the same offense.  The only one with consistency on defense- 3 top 10 defenses.  The only one with draftable players at all offensive positions.  And in the past two years, we’re undefeated in games he didn’t start while averaging about 40 points per game.  I’m quite confident in saying he would not change his surroundings for any of those other dudes.  And I’d guess all those would have loved to play at Texas the past two years.

Hes been fine.  He’s been well compensated for his efforts.
