I actually checked Chicago Texas Exes FB page not long after posting this and it looks like the Exes moved game watching to a place called The River Kitchen and Bar.

Starting my first round of chemo next week, but still have my sights on going to Oasis in Chicago on 8/28, cancer be damned. For those of you staying through the weekend, where are you watching Texas-Ohio State? I hear Cubby Bear is where Longhorns gather to watch - is that accurate?

Good luck with everything man! Praying for a speedy recovery

Yes, it was rescheduled. I’m looking into the indoor tix now, thanks.

Thanks for the heads up about the show.  We'll be going and was able to get the pre-show lounge tickets as well.

GWAR / Dwarves

McCartney

I once emceed a burlesque show in Chicago with Blag from the Dwarves. He was kind of a dick.

I saw Paul McCartney at ACL and he was fucking incredible. Hope he's still got some juice left 7 years later. But watching a then-76-year-old man running across the stage for like 2.5 hours was impressive.

I'm good with Blag being a dick. Punk needs assholes running the show. Last time I saw them he ended the show by fighting some dude from the crowd and then throwing the drum kit off stage. I think it was during Fuck You up and Get High. On point.

I've seen Paul many times and am very excited about this last run. Every show I've seen has been killer. The guy was made to be on stage. I've also got a ticket to his preshow soundcheck, which is essentially another hour long show of b-sides and buried deep tracks. The guy is amazing. Glad you saw him at ACL; heard that was a great show.

Going to the Industrial Nation 2025 show with Front Line Assembly and others at Granada in Dallas, may go to Cold Waves in Chicago as well.

Went to see a friend's band at a small Austin club last night.  They were good, not great.  Need a better drummer.

The opener was the craziest shitshow I've seen in a while.  Some old dude on guitar who clearly has played for decades, another old dude on drums who could play OK, and then 4 millenials who I swear must have been recruited from School of Rock.  A gal on "piano", a gal on fiddle, a rock-looking dude on a Tele and a bass player who couldn't be bothered to realize his tone was totally distorted.  It was the most heinous mess of amateurism I've seen in a long time.  They played 5 covers, no originals, and jammed on every song, rotating around so everyone could solo every song.  Seriously, it felt like one of those middle school summer band camp kind of bands.

"Live Music Capitol of the World" my ass.

Saw the offspring last night at dos equis in dallas. The show was a lot of fun. The intro was a lot like an nba intro with a fuck you cam, bootie shake cam, and kiss cam. We all know the coldplay punchline to the kiss cam but it still hit pretty well.

They played the hits and had various accessories for songs like giant blow up skeletons, a blimp, giant beach balls, streamer cannons, and a giant video board. The band engaged with the audience quite a bit. It was a lot like a flaming lips show.

The lead singer has lost a step or two with his vocals. He could hit the notes but it wasn’t as powerful as years past. The drummer is new and is fantastic. He did a short solo that was dope. Everyone around me was talking about it.

They did a tip of the cap to ozzy and covered crazy train. That was pretty cool. They followed it with a cover of the ramones. I mean how often do you get to see a guy with bleach blonde hair and a phd in molecular biology do a cover of “i wanna be sedated” with a dude in a gorilla mask running across the stage with a sign that says “I wanna be…”

Fun stuff.
