As for Carson Kelly, 29, it’s not a shock to see him cut from the roster based on his recent results but it’s a significant development from a wider lens. He was once a top 100 prospect with the Cardinals and was one of the prospects that came to Arizona in the Paul Goldschmidt trade, along with Luke Weaver and Andrew Young. The former was flipped to the Royals last year for Emmanuel Rivera, who was optioned to the minors yesterday, while Young was lost to the Nationals in the minor league portion of the 2021 Rule 5 draft.

Great trade, Snakes.

Fucking insane sequence in Seattle just now, will be on Twitter shortly.

And then Mullins finished the job in the 10th.

and all of that was after the O’s took the lead in the top of the 9th on a balk that moved runners to 2nd and 3rd (getting Servais tossed) followed by a rutschman swinging bunt to the pitcher driving in the guy from 3rd with the closest play at the plate you’ll see all year (that Iassogna got right)

Great game between two teams playing some great ball right now

Wander may be done with baseball if rumors are true.

Tampa Bay shortstop Wander Franco did not travel on the team plane to San Francisco, where the Rays will start a series with the Giants tomorrow, sources tell ESPN. The Rays earlier said MLB is doing “due diligence” concerning social media posts from earlier today about Franco.

The Tampa Bay Rays have placed shortstop Wander Franco on the restricted list, which takes him off the roster and is, in most cases, unpaid, an MLB official tells ESPN. The league has launched an investigation into social media posts about Franco from Sunday.

It seems fairly telling that we haven’t seen a full- throated denial by Franco at this point.

I wouldn't read much into that. I am sure that his lawyer and the team are both united in saying "Don't say a fucking word to anybody". He did have an IG where he said he was innocent and even that probably gave his lawyer an aneurism.

According to this report, the attorney general’s office in the Dominican Republic reports that there has been a complaint filed by a minor against Wander Franco. This girl is not the one linked to him through the previous viral social media videos.

Apparently it happened before the story blew up, but more to the point what in the living fuck was Siri thinking getting into it?

Umpire Ángel Hernández lost again in his racial discrimination lawsuit against Major League Baseball when a federal appeals court refused to reinstate his case Tuesday.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a 2021 District Court decision that granted MLB a summary judgment.

Hernández, who was born in Cuba and hired as a big league umpire in 1993, sued in 2017. He alleged he was discriminated against because he had not been assigned to the World Series since 2005 and had been passed over for promotion to crew chief.

The Braves are slugging .502 as a team.  No team has ever slugged over .500 in MLB history.

And the ball was extra juiced in 2019 as evidenced by 3 of the top 5 that year.

MLB wide slugging

2019 - .435

2023 - .413
