Well yeah. There's the fascists and there's the not-fascists. Not-fascists being polite to and trying to work with fascists is a big part of the reason we're here now, so we like it when not-fascists tell the fascists to get fucked.

the gop did very well in 2020 pretty much across the board running on "the left is all radical socialists that want to defund the police."  this worked.  when asked about what their 2020 platform was at the rnc, they basically said "we don't have one, we just, you know, we're whatever trump wants."

but sure, aoc is divisive.  give me more divisive.

And 40% of the country think this is ridiculous, which is how we found ourselves in the existential crisis we were in as a Republic before GameStop saved us and unified us again against a common enemy (Hedge Fund Managers). Now we are more or less getting along for a while, which has been nice, actually. Refreshing.

The enemy of your enemy is your friend...for a while at least, I guess.

Which 40%?  Are you referring to the ones who voted GOP?  The party where nearly HALF of its supporters SUPPORTED the violence at the Capitol (per polling)?  Yeah.....GTFO out of here with that nonsense.   The leader of the insane lies and calls to stochastic terrorism that inevitably led to.....acts of violent terrorism.....is the GOP frontrunner for the 2024 nomination, and there isn't even a close second out there.

We have no common enemy.  Wait until Trump and the Trumpkins speak on this subject.  They'll find a way to blame Antifa for it, and this will all be over.

You don't have to worship her.  But you'd be foolish not to respect her.  BOTH for her attention to policy (and maybe you disagree with her conclusions, but she is actually thoughtful and has well-developed positions) AND her ability to fight back effectively on the terms presented by her opponents.

It isn't disrespectful to point out her role as the attack dog for the left. It isn't disrespectful to point out that twitter clap backs and attack-based tribal politics turn folks off.  Her policies and her method of politik are not the same.  It is possible to critique one while supporting left policies.

Again, missing the point that she's a COUNTER-attack dog is why you keep getting pushback.

Your approach would have the opposition to the party of fascism be fucking pushovers.  No.  Just no.  Enough.  Having one side relentlessly attack -- a tactic that has proven to be EFFECTIVE -- is suicidal idiocy.  It's demanding that we march to the front with flowers, calling for peace, while the other side continuously mows us down with .50 cal machine guns.  FUCK.  THAT.  SHIT.

Rep. Chip Roy Demands AOC Apologize to Ted Cruz For 'Almost Had Me Murdered' Tweet
BY JEFFERY MARTIN ON 1/29/21 AT 12:08 AM EST

Quote

Texas Representative Chip Roy demanded an apology from New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday for a tweet in which Ocasio-Cortez alleged that Texas Senator Ted Cruz almost had her "murdered" during the January riot at the U.S. Capitol building.

Cruz was one of a number of Republicans who challenged the victory of President Joe Biden in the Electoral College during the Congressional confirmation in January. Supporters of former President Donald Trump entered the Capitol building during the count, forcing some lawmakers to shelter in place. Six fatalities have been attributed to the riot.

Ocasio-Cortez made the remark to Cruz after he tweeted his agreement with her over the need to "know more" about the blocking of some stocks by the trading app Robinhood.

"I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there's common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in response to Cruz on Thursday. "Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren't trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign."

In a Thursday letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Roy called Ocasio-Cortez's allegations "scurrilous."

"It is completely unacceptable behavior for a Member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member in the House or Senate for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution. I ask you to call on her to immediately apologize and retract her comments," Roy wrote.

"If Representative Ocasio-Cortez does not apologize immediately," Roy continued, "we will be forced to find alternative means to condemn this regrettable statement."

Newsweek reached out to Pelosi's office for comment.

Roy had pledged to join some Republican colleagues in objecting to Biden's win. After the riot, Roy reconsidered his position. In remarks to Congress when the electoral vote count had reconvened, Roy singled out Trump's repeated baseless claims of voter fraud as a factor in the riot.

"The president should never have spun up certain Americans to believe something that simply cannot be," Roy said. Roy did not object to Biden's certification.

Ocasio-Cortez alleged that Cruz bore some responsibility for creating the environment that elicited the riot by supporting Trump's voter fraud claims. In a Thursday tweet, Ocasio-Cortez wrote that Cruz should be replaced.

"We need accountability," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, "and that includes a new Senator from Texas."

In January, some Democrat Senators asked the Senate Ethics Committee to open an investigation into Cruz and Missouri Senator Josh Hawley, who also voiced objections to Biden's confirmation. The letter alleged that Cruz and Hawley's objections "lent legitimacy" to the cause of the Capitol rioters and "made future violence more likely."

Really? You think the semantics of counter attack dog vs attack dog is the real issue here?

The other side praises Gym Jordan for not being a push over.  The other side praised trump cause he was a fighter - or maybe it was a counter fighter.  That side is now sitting on the sidelines. We now have mature people in charge doing mature things.  They are having adult-based discussions with the daily white house briefings.  His team have been making the rounds using sensible policy/value based rhetoric. We need more and more of that shit.

Attack dogs, uhhhh counter-attach dogs, have their role.  They may or may not be effective, but they have a role.  Gym Jordan and Fox News think they are effective I'm sure.  Again, describing AOC's politik isn't disrespectful.

The problem is that she's not an attack dog. She's a very intelligent, outspoken person who is one of the very few that understands how to fight the battle on the field that it's fought on today, and how to fight fire with fire. She stands up for herself and her views with strength and assertiveness.

It's Pelosi and Schumer style of chump Democratic doormattery that got us to a point where someone who refuses to hold hands and sing kumbayah with a man who put her life in danger is considered an "attack dog".

AOC isn't an attack dog. She's just not a castrated little bitch like the people who run the DNC are.

She understand how to fight the battle but she isn't an attack dog?  Should we use the label of "attack bull?"

People aren't upset because you're describing her politics, but because you are describing them incorrectly. She comes across as an attack dog because she is actually trying to govern. She has ideas and she pushes them forward. She pushes back against the crap we've had in congress that just plays politics rather than actually trying to help people. We'd be much better off if every single person in Congress approached their job like AOC.

Anyway, let's get back to GME.

Any and all opposition to GOP and their shenanigans has been crushed regularly because the opposition is chump doormats.  The Dems are BARELY winning important races (see POTUS and Georgia senate) where they ARE winning.

The politics of division and sharp battle is the system we have now.  You can lament that it has arrived, but you can't deny that it has made itself comfortable, as a proven path to victory.  Only a fool fights under Marquess of Queensberry rules when their opponent is stabbing them repeatedly with a shiv.

To bring this back to the thread, Wall Street has bought and owns a great number of our political class.  Asking the owned to play nicely, and maybe think of being fair, is folly.  They must be attacked, humiliated, shamed, and backed into a corner where they have no choice but to actually allow a fair system to exist.  If you think you're going to get oligarchs to play nicely for any reason other than fear, you haven't been paying attention to.....any of humanity.

The right will always have their boogeymen.  That isn't AOC's problem.  Her issue is that she has embraced the role of being the attack dog for the left.  Her method is division, confrontation, and twitter clap-backs.  Folks are tired of twitter clap-backs and tribalism.  I'm not saying the left shouldn't have attack dogs.  The right has them in the Gym Jordan's and Tucker Carlson's of the world.  Attack dogs have their purpose and it is possible they have a positive influence on meaningful things.  Folks are just tired of divisive politics. We all lived through Trump.  The worshiping of AOC seems to be a promotion of trumpist style politics by the left - the style of attacking the "others" rather than solving problems, passing legislation, and promotion of policies, ideas, values - the things that we should admire in our elected representatives - not twitter clap-backs.

And, again your position is bullshit. That isn't AOC's politics. She does this: "solving problems, passing legislation, and promotion of policies, ideas, values." That's what the Green New Deal was. That is what her specific proposals are. She is actually governing. The clapback is in response to bullshit attacks as opposed to reasoned debate. The fact that you can't see that speaks to your own biases and limited exposure to AOC. You only see her through the lens created by Fox News and the debate around that lens. Stop that. Listen and look to what she actually says and does on policy. Now, move your dumb take to another thread.

Look. You are on the side of attack-based politics.  You have said so much.  That is fine.  Why the emotional reaction to describing AOC in those terms?  Why the immediate reaction of labeling me, someone describing the situation (which you agree with), as a trump supporter or the other side or whatever?

Your position is that we should use attack-based politics, but we shouldn't label attack dogs and then mix in a heavy helping of strawmen on top.

The side that has used division based politics as their entire platform is currently sitting on the side lines, btw.  It was effective for them - until it wasn't.  I'm not denying that is has worked for them in the past.

I'm not "for" attack-based politics.  I think they are destructive.  What I am FOR is meeting force with force.

Kind of like how I'm not "for" war, or "for" shooting another person.  But if someone Pearl Harbors our ass, I'm in favor of meeting force with force.  If someone breaks into my house and tries to do harm to me and mine, I am in favor of meeting his attack with force.

AOC is NOT an aggressor.  That's the problem with your characterization.  Ted Cruz and his entire message attacked her, to the point of threatening her life.  She's not going to let it go.  She's not going to just launch planes while he's actively Pearl Harboring her, she's going to take the fucking fight that HE STARTED all the way to the motherfucking home islands.

@GW Hayduke

If you think the problem is her, and if you think she is turning off voters, than you are really out of touch.  She had over 300k people on Twitch last night, for 2 hours, sat through some technical difficulties, to listen to her and her guests talk about the market, etc.   She is not very polished in some areas, and her spending 10 minutes fucking around with a camera focus was tedious.  But once she got going along with her guests she was great.

I know you keep trying to claim to not be a Republican but you certainly seem to echo their comments.  Taking the high road lost Beto the election.  He is a nice guy, I could tell he was going to lose.  Americans have demonstrated over and over that attack ads work.  Anyone who takes the high road is going to lose.  If one side is handing out half-truths and easily digestible lies that seems to always garner more votes than someone who has an honest discussion.

I have posted this before but I talked with my Dad about BLM.  I explained to him what defund the police meant.  He agreed with nearly everything.  I thought it was good progress and so I talked with him about immigration and how some of our policies are cruel and inflict trauma and require toddlers who barely speak to ask for representation in an English speaking courtroom.   He agreed that was horrible.  Next day, it was like we never talked.  He got his daily dose of right-wing-hate and suddenly D = Evil, and R = Jesus.   If Trump said 2 + 2 = 1500, he would argue that it was true or that it was taken out of context or it was just a joke.  There is no possible way for Trump to be wrong or the R's to be wrong.  Except Romney, whom he voted for, but now hates with a passion for questioning his faith in Trumpus.

Oh man, this got tiresome quick.

I definitely think we were given a common enemy in Hedge Fund billionaires, as Reddit WSB is full of both R’s and D’s trying to make a quick buck and troll the big HF with Lulz. I think that both AoC’s core demographic AND Ted Cruz’s core demographic, while different, are aligned in this specific instance. So TC’s agreeing with AoC is honest and not some fake political olive branch or whatever people here are saying.

It’s her right to not want to work with the guy for whatever perceived felonies she imagines were levied by TC on her, but that doesn’t invalidate the fact that the majority of both TC/Trump folks and AoC are on the same side of the political and belief spectrum here.

And just how this is the case, the minute minority in favor of Hedge Funds are a mix of D and R as well. Though they have a mixed bag of beliefs as well, they form a unique group with a common name; a political one even, these days.

They are known as “billionaires”.

AOC is serious about policy.  She is also really, really fucking good at defending herself, her positions, and the people she is charged with representing.  She's a shepherd, who knows how to kill the fuck out of wolves.  That doesn't make her a goddamned wolf.

I understand the concept of counter attack.  It just isn't relevant unless someone is overly sensitive about discussions about their tribe and wants to haggle.

No one said she wasn't serious about policy. Again, policies and method of politik are not the same.

They both agree on something but TC overstepped on social media to someone who isn't okay with him and she said I don't want to hear it from you and attacked with and, while you are here and I am responding to you, "oh by the way "previous political fight not forgotten and brought back up"

Completely her right to not want to look aligned with TC and politically makes even more sense, but that doesn't mean they (and everyone they speak for and represent) are divided on this issue. That's levitation, holmes. That's unity, brother.

It just isn't relevant unless someone is overly sensitive about discussions about their tribe and wants to haggle.

I mean, other than that being a ridiculous statement, sure.

"I understand the concept of self defense....It just isn't relevant unless someone is overly sensitive about discussions about their tribe and wants to haggle.."  I mean, it's ALSO relevant if someone is, you know, relentlessly attacked.  That's exactly how self defense becomes relevant.  In fact, WITHOUT that initial attack, it's entirely IRRELEVANT.

Jesus fuck, man, just stop.

The Dems have been walked all over for years, by a party that has one game -- relentlessly attack, no matter what.  They FINALLY show some sort of fucking spine, and respond to a series of Pearl Harbors by launching a Doolittle raid on Tokyo, and here you are, lamenting all the fighting.  What you should be lamenting is the motherfuckers who decided to commit all the goddamned Pearl Harbors.

Without Pearl Harbor, there is no Doolittle raid.

Without Ted Cruz relentlessly fanning the flames of political violence based on lies, with such fanning culminating in a violent attack on the Capitol where people were openly seeking AOC to do harm to her.....she wouldn't fucking clap-back at that pathetic lump of goo.

I am anti-fucking around.  But I am very, very, VERY pro making them find out once they've done so.

I hear you and agree. We should just let them fight.

I'm just lamenting generally I guess, about how we have the most obvious and unifying event since 9/11 and it's going to be squandered because the well is too poisoned. But the reality is the reality and I'm being anachronistic by romancing a past that the internet has obliterated and will never be a political reality again, short of bloody revolution, it seems.

Anyways, AoC is cool. I think Ted Cruz is funny and glad he's doing his thing. Let them fight it out on twitter. Gives us something to discuss and distract ourselves with and props up the general mainstream media jobs that are probably not long for this world.

You've already made it clear that those qualifications are very very important to you.   That doesn't mean they are relevant to my position.  Are you arguing against the position that Cruz and AOC are the exact same? Are you arguing for the position that AOC is an attack dog but that she is justified in being one? Are you arguing against the position that AOC and Gym Jordan are both attack dogs for their side, except one of them is justified in that method of politik and is actually a shepherd?
