Well, that isn’t the same movie.

looks much closer to the book.  The 80s movie was different than the book.

This version is the Stephen King story. The Arnold version pretty much scrapped everything but the name Ben Richards and the Dawson character.

beat me to it.

FYI, they are finally making another great non-horror King story, the Long Walk, into a movie that releases later this year.  I'm uncertain how it will translate to film.

I love that one. Lots of inner dialogue so maybe they get Morgan Freeman to narrate.

1234.

Denigrate Mr. Powell on this board and you’ll get a fatwa called down on you by the hard core Long Horns.

So, at least based on the trailer, the Ahnold version looked better IMO(could just be because I loved it as a kid)

Yeah.

Reminds me of Total Recall.  The Colin Ferral one was closer to the book but a much worse movie IMO.

I'm not sure the Host is right...and not sold on Powell either.

But either way I'll probably watch it.

Son-in-law worked on the set design for this movie.

When he told us what he was working on he wasn't aware of the original and when I told him about the first one with Arnold he said that based upon the drawings and what they were building this was something completely different.

I haven't read the book, but if you are going to redo the movie I think going back and following the source material is the play, especially with the first story really written to fit Arnold and his physical presence.

Truthfully, not sure you could remake the first in the fashion it was made.
