What was today's lie?

We have not deported US Citizens. Then she had to meet them. Was a great congressional ambush.

You can't truly learn a language until you go somewhere that you are forced to speak it.  I learned this after spending my time getting a second major in Spanish at UT, which had like the second best Spanish department in the country while I was there.  I took three years, could read and write all you wanted.  Couldn't speak for shit until I lived in Argentina and Spain.  Even practicing with Mexican friends, we'd always fall back on English.

Gotta move their and find a Female, non-English speaking "friend". Best way.

Plenty of Latin countries where you could do Latin immersion.

but you have to go now before we invade them, take over, then kick them all out as non-Americans.

Have a childhood time friend that recently got this tattooed. Lines look like they were done in an alley behind an immigrant owned gas station next to the dumpster by yet another angry white guy. He thinks the holy war is on the way. I still haven’t stopped making fun of him on our grext so I may be on the list to get killed first once the ‘war’ starts, and there is  no way in hell am I going to stop fucking with him and his queer tattoo.  You can’t dismiss this ignorant yet blatant behavior.
when I was relaying this to my elderly Mother, childhood friend was one of her favorites, she said ‘Jesus Christ what has happened to him, well at least it’s a good thing he never had children’.

It’s been crickets since I sent him the Stephen Lynch ‘Queer Tattoo’ song.

I hope all your friends aren't that shitty.  And your mom sounds like good people!

His hand has been fucked up for awhile now. If handshaking was causing that kind of damage, maybe go to fist bumps?

You’d really think they could come up with a better lie, but why bother.

Can't remember where I pulled this from but I've shared it far and wide. It might've initially come from here. But he's getting monthly IVs for some reason or other. This guy's hypothesis seems as good as any. Kind of wild that I've started seeing TV commercials for Kisunla in the past week or two -- maybe I'm just noticing them now.

Very busy. Many phone calls, many meetings, many handshakes.

Maybe she meant "the President's constantly shaking hands."

You jest, but I was actually wondering if I can still keep Argentina, Costa Rica, and Panama on my possible expat retirement list.

I'd sure hate to move away from this shit only to have the shit come after me.

Costa Rica has no army.

OK, so lie, get called out, not like the questions, and leave a Congressional Testimony? Yeah that is normal for an acting Secretary of any US Department or Agency.

So she got clowned on multiple times by the Democrats who had combat veterans either there or on Zoom. Just absolutely clowned on, and made to look extremely weak.

She's going to be out of there soon.

At least with Whiskey Pete's fuckups, he's distracting from the Epstein Files.

She's straight up looking incompetent and weak in front of the Democrats.  Trump does not like that.

Happy rebuke day, everyone

Also today's the day Trump outright said he wants to be the singular leader of the US, just like Xi. He'll be rebuked on that, too.

Well yeah, cuz we all know Lupe and Juana who make tacos are more of a threat than global instability.

Didn't you read the national security strategy?

Also, every word of that is the most "every accusation is a confession" I've ever seen. Like comically so. In fact it almost seems intentional now.

Not that I am any less cynical, but it will be interesting to see the legal machinations used to get around the pardoning of a non-Federal crime.  Yay!

And popehat's follow up, which is trenchant.

for those not familiar with Kyle Clark from Denver, he's the best of the best, and he should be anchoring the network news, or doing a Sunday show.

Wish that had been followed up with inquiring about why the FBI is unable to discover more information about the #1 threat to American safety.

The best part of this failure in Indiana is that while the state senators do want GOP control in Congress, they have pointed to the bullying and harassment from Trump & Co., as well as his behavior for their rejection of Trump's wishes. One state GOP senator, with a Down's syndrome child, called out Trump's insensitivity towards people like his child.

Sadly, these politicians will will most likely face consequences in future elections or be required to resign to avoid them.

Imagine the conflicts if the President gets to override a state's (governor's) right to pardon. I assume it could also mean that a President could veto a governor's pardon if the President disagrees with the pardon.

every presidential pardon should be shown on live tv, like an awards show or the shitty selection shows for college sports, world cup seedings, etc.

We need to require a Congressional approval for pardons. Pardons and commutations are good in principle in allowing a President to right a wrong but the abuses are growing too much. An amendment is needed that should require the House to vote on the pardon/commutation at the beginning of its next quorum. First vote of the day. And not just a voice vote but require an actual vote. Force them to put their name on it.

And no pardons allowed in the period between 1 week prior to election day and the new congress, including new President is inaugurated.

And yet, there’s that pesky Constitution language.  I’m pretty sure that the only remedy for pardon malfeasance is the ballot box and the impeachment process.

Quote

The President has pardon or clemency power under Article II, Section 2, clause 1, of the Constitution, under the Pardon Clause. The clause says the President “shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”
