The Deandre one is shocking. That dude has looked like a JAG who's been elevated by the system in most games to me.

I agree with this, but I just watched Vernon Broughton and Hayden Connor get drafted, so I think I’m just about done underestimating this staff’s ability to elevate players I think are JAGs.

Moore didn’t look like a jag when he ran away from the Georgia defense. Probably can’t formulate much of an opinion like that considering who our receiver's had throwing them the ball.

Golden and motivated Bond definitely did not look like JAGs with Ewers throwing to them, not to mention Mitchell and Worthy.

I'm not as down on Moore as some here appear to be, but that specific play was Sark scheming up a tendency breaker more than Moore beating someone in coverage or running a nice route against zone

I wouldn't have had Barron winning the Thorpe, either, so I'll take that as a good sign.

Moore has a lot to prove after some bad drops. Sounds like he's going the wrong direction.

He can't continue to have huge breakdowns and be a 2nd rounder.  Screen play against Ohio State and the TD against Vandy come to mind specifically with him imo.

Saw this and thought "where the hell is Simmons". Then remembered he was a freshman last year, and I am dumb. Dude is a phenom.

It would look like hammered poo. That dude isn't an outside receiver. His hands also kind of suck. A 2nd round grade for him is absurd. I won't be surprised if he's passed up by year's end. He didn't do himself any favors with how he handled part of the offseason, either. He's not going to get a lot of undue loyalty the way he did this past season.

You took one play and attempted to build a foundation with that and your usual bullshit of negging Ewers as some sort of subpar college QB. It's astonishing how often you sprint onto this board in order to show us your ability to projectile vomit bad takes.

Tell us again how Vernon Broughton doesn’t care about football and is a jag because he missed spring game last year.

Went from cannot develop and Longhorns getting a draft discount to now getting the benefit of the doubt. These seem very optimistic

You should quote me where I said Vernon Broughton doesn't care about football. I don't remember that part when I did say that he prioritized his wedding over the spring game and that pissed the coaches off. You know, the things that actually happened.

We can play the game where we each work to pull up dumb takes from the other's posting history. I am interested in seeing how that goes for the two of us. Is that something you're interested in doing?

I'd ignore early draft stuff that isn't from Brugler or Tice. DJ doesn't do early draft stuff. The rest is crap

I repeatedly said last offseason that moving Barron to corner was a stupid idea. That's my leader in the clubhouse.

Yes - this is the kind of off-season content that I come here for. Between baseball's success and the incessant infighting on the football board, I may make it until August.

This and the omission of Lefau jumped out to me (aside from this being a terrible list generally). I’m not a draft scout by any means, but Lefau was really impressive for a true sophomore imo. The other thing that stands out is how many of our very best players won’t even enter next year. Manning and Simmons, for instance, would probably be top 5/10 picks this year. Hard to believe that ~5 years ago, I was looking at the roster and thinking about whether Lil’Jordan Humphrey would get drafted.

Broughton has elite traits as an interior pass rusher.    I would not call him a JAG.  On the other hand, Hayden Connor is definitely a JAG.

Tre Wisner in the 4th round seems very optimistic, but I also did a quick Google search to familiarize myself with some of the draft-eligible RBs for next year, and yeah, not a lot to get excited about right now outside the top 2 or 3 guys. Rueben Owens' name showed up multiple times, if that says anything.

I could see Both Moore's and Goosby(not all but one or two of them) sneak into the first with great years.  Moore could pull off like Golden did...and if Goosby steps in without missing a beat for Banks, he could as well.

The other Moore would have to be a huge sack guy probably.

All in all, very optimistic but hey...I'm okay with that.

DMo looking like a JAG while being the second most reliable receiver last year, putting up 7 TDs in a stacked WR room, and being the best blocker at the position is a take.

His hands were suspect at times for sure, but were they any worse than Bond’s?
Looking less athletic on the field when you have Matt “4.29” Golden, Isaiah “fastest recorded mph at the combine” Bond, and Ryan Wingo to compare him to can make it easy to underestimate his ability.
I could see him going over 1k and maybe 8ish TDs this year if he stays healthy.

Broughton was JAG at best every year at Texas outside of last year, during which he was awesome. My point is that this staff has consistently shown the ability to develop players beyond reasonable expectations.

The majority of that is nonsense at this moment. Extremely optimistic projection.

Goosby a 2nd rounder leaving after 3 only starting 1 season? Right after Cam Williams just dropped like a stone in the same scenario? Both Moore's and Guilbeau in the 2nd round? Taaffe a 3rd rounder?

Just any of those happening seems very unlikely, but all of them? Insanity.

Burke has such great size and has played a lot of high level football, including making that Top 5 prospect Bama tackle his bitch that I can see his floor being any lower than rd 4 or 5.

Simmons is gonna draw a lot of attention up front which will create opportunities for Burke to show out and put up some sack #s this year. If he shapes up that dad bod and can get 8 or 9 sacks I think he will be high on teams boards

Yep. Broughton was a fucking liability in 2022 and barely a JAG in 2023. Then suddenly in 2024 he's a solid disruptor and pass rush specialist on the inside.

Credit to Kenny Baker for that, I guess. Because I thought Broughton had zero chance of sniffing the NFL.

When he was hired, a lot of us had the Cleveland Indians fan's response in Major League: "Who's this fucking guy?"  The "I guess" qualifier is fair, I guess, because I'm not sure how much the fans can say the improved play from guys like Broughton and Collins was Kenny Baker's coaching.

Was it from the coaching, or the additional year?

That kid played way too early. He got his ass kicked the first half of the season. Burke got a sack in that game, I think Hill beat him for a couple. He was a target of PK's game plan.  Funny I saw him being talked about as a 1st round pick this year. I must have made a huge jump last year.

Unless Goosby has a medical red flag that scares teams off, I wouldn't use Cam Williams' drop as an example for him

I would assume the answer is "all of the above." Coaching from KB, another year of S&C, us having better edges to take the pressure off the interior, etc. etc. etc. It's great that he improved as much as he did, but I'm still completely shocked by it.

Update from the Surly Horns Fyre Fest 2 fiasco and I'm afraid the news is just getting worse.

After much humiliating outreach with @immamac, we had finally gotten Bibi Hadid to agree return the deposit from the cancelled roadtrip.

We appealed to her by pointing out how we raise money for UT athletics, and how we aren't some giant corporation or some stupid influencer.

Everything was set for the bank transfer, when we were done in by an offhanded comment I made in an earlier post, when I had joked that @South Austin should go ahead and ask her for a pair of used panties!

And what does the dumbass do? He texts her and asks for a pair!

Now she has cut off all contact with us and Imma is not speaking to me again.

While I hold some responsibility since the trip was my idea, South Austin has really screwed us.

Yeah, it’s probably all of the above.  He likely had his most reps ever and hit that now or never mode too.  Outside of OSU and UGa the opponents talent was not that great so it better allowed him to showcase his skills.

Broughton was always a tweener, but he seemed to be strong enough to hold up at the POA this past season.  His explosiveness next to Big Al made them formidable.  However, I would be remiss to not mention Lole and Norton being absolute boulders coming in to spell them.  Our staff is EXTREMELY good at gameplanning from what I've seen.  They took Smith away from Ohio State and said beat us and you know what they did, but it was painful for them.  You guys are going to get tired of winning and I believe that.  I won't, but that's because I'm an extremely hateful/spiteful son of a bitch.  I don't just want to win.  I want the crying and the bitching at an all time high.  I want us to mete out justice to the cheaters that have lorded over us for a decade and a half.  I want to feel the hate and then I want to stomp their fucking skull into a fine powder, pour gasoline on the corpses, light the fucking matches and piss on the ashes.
