LOL what an asinine story.

TV decides kickoff times, not the schools. And certainly not the AWAY team.

I guess Fox had some willingness to move it to Sunday, but we said no.

And rightly so.  Then we'd have a short week to travel back to Austin for a game the next Saturday

Yeah this is the part of the reporting that being left out. Texas doesn't want to move to sunday, and rightfully so.

But it's being pushed as "Oh noes, Texas is a scared of the Bright Lights in the Shoes!!!!"

Assuming Texas did have some say on what day this particular game would be played (and I could see that being the case given the reported negotiations between the Big 12/Texas/Fox/ESPN about allowing Texas to get out of the Big 12 a season early), I would think Texas would prefer to play the game on Saturday for all of the logistical reasons stated above (fans already having travel plans, not wanting a short week for the team, etc.).  I could also see ESPN not wanting Texas to agree to move the game to compete directly with their stand-alone broadcast the next day.

I mean.... I would hope we angle to be the noon game anyway. We have a better chance of winning with a sleepy, less liquored up crowd. Primetime is fun, but fuck asking for it.

We improved special teams a ton via the portal IMO.

Yeah, he needs to update his algorithm via returning/added production via the portal.  It is possible that our DT rotation could once again be fucking insane.

i'm all for the game being moved to 3:30 or 7:30 local kick in columbus... on SATURDAY..

But screw them moving it to Sunday where i already have flights leaving early that morning.. I would have to spend more money into changing that and paying for an extra night at a hotel.

They announced that we were playing on Aug 30th a while back.. and i made plans around it.

Best quote from old Mack when asked pregame about the team playing at night in the shoe in 05, “ we’ve played in nice places before we’ll be ok “ Texas has played many a teams Super Bowl all over the country, and the media still acts as if we’ve been irrelevant till now. It’s weird and maddening considering these are the ppl that have been covering the sport for a while. Haters gonna hate I guess.
