I'm going to choose to believe that Kimbrel was warming up on his own to show his new team he's ready to go and that we aren't going to throw him straight into late inning high leverage spots to prove to ourselves that he's washed

Great job. Won the series, now get the sweep tomorrow

It’s a Sunday afternoon game. Theoretically they won’t rest Altuve, Correa, Walker, Pena, but I’m not holding my breath until the lineup card comes out.

We've already won the series so I wouldn't hold your breath.  Espada seems to believe in the Deloss Dodds school of winning too much

You do realize that this is the internet version of Ray thinking about the StaPuff Marshmellow man instead of simply thinking about nothing.

Shocked Dan Aykroyd GIF by Ghostbusters

You basically just inceptioned Espada.

Kimbrel has his work cut out for him.

but not his hair.

I'm cool with Framber's braids.  Stanek's long  hair was fine.  Brian King's little 'fro-mullet is fine.

Not the fucking man bun though. It's no samurai topknot either. Looks silly.

If this was Shawn Dubin’s last time out as an Astro I’d like to pour one out for him.  Small school, high strikeout artist, coming off 2021 he looked like he’d be a key piece in a good bullpen.

They probably looked at him and thought, “he could be our new Brad Peacock”, and despite innings in which it clicked and he could be absolutely unhittable, more often  he couldn’t command his pitches and grooved fastballs for home runs.

I’d probably have tried to keep him over Ort but I’m guessing at 29 and as a righty, he is what is and that’s pretty fungible.  He’s a good example of mixed results in a pitching laboratory that also produced Brown and Valdez and who also took a few seasons to shine.

When you look at his numbers for this year, he was money in May and June.

18 games pitched, just over 20 innings of work. and a 1.35 ERA.

Then he fell off the fucking edge of the world,  since he came back in August he has gone 5 innings, given up 14 runs and that is a smooth 21+ ERA.

I am with you, but his smile afterwards indicates he was acting.

Blubaugh has got good stuff, he needs to learn how to pitch, all his pitches have good movement.

Kinda like arrighetti

2026 could be fun for those two

It would be nice to scratch out a winning record this road trip after not scoring until over halfway through the week

If we score five runs in the first, we shouldn't need more runs to just win by one.

With this rotation right now and DFA’ing a different reliever every week we absolutely should

3 game lead

thought for sure that bobble on a sure game ending double play was going to cost them the game

and then Harris walking Cole Young after being well ahead in the count only to have to face Arozarena with the bases loaded. Young wasn't swinging the bat, can't walk that guy in that situation. But it worked out I guess.
