I will say that another industry guy that was there who will go unnamed said they are actively seeking other programs to journo for because of how negative the experience in Belmont is currently. Not just Harris.

Its a ticking time bomb I'm afraid.

It is. Sadly. And it shouldn’t be.

Mentioned this guy a while back, probably Auburn bound, but hopefully we reach out.

If agents are allowing bridges to get burned through this, they aren't serious agents

Tying this to the Michigan players staying put is a hilarious stretch

I don't know if you've heard, but Texas in general and Steve Sarkisian in particular don't do fuck all right. Our football operation is an example of incompetence rarely seen on this level and if you don't know that you are, quite frankly, an unserious clown.

And also pedantic.

Just helped Ole Miss build a semi-final team and best team (success wise) in school history

You are never going to believe who else built two semi-finals teams

I'm being intentionally vague, @RGBIII and I are lining up a whole fuckton of agents to talk to about this in the May/June timeframe when all the dust has settled a bit.

Stroh was one if the guys repped. Stroh is getting paid.

I think some of you need to understand that with revshare being at every P5 school the math has dramatically changed for people. You want to make fun of Trey Owens for going to Arkansas State, but he's gonna make well into 6 figures and probably more than most of you make with your "big boy" jobs next season.

I get the humor of calling everyone a JAG or saying shit like go be fat somewhere else etc, but it's real that these guys are making a bunch of money and are D1 level college athletes.

What we were trying to get started with a baseline for the rosters is a real thing now with revshare.

Why are you defending Trey Owen’s? Who gives a shit. He’s at Arkansas st because he’s not very good

I cannot see Sam Leavitt (great last name for portaling) if Miami offers turning that down. It’s Miami. Location alone over Baton Rouge. I wonder how much Lane’s spectacularly classless exit from ole Miss hurt him with recruits and portal transfers. Some obviously don’t care bc paycheck and all that but some actually might.

I mean sitting and watching a basketball game with a prize recruit while news breaks out of you getting a commit from another is an all time fuckstain move.

These kids are after the money and all but that ones going to make them doubt kiffins commitment to them

He’s a stud.

5 minutes ago, Reynolds Woodcock said:

Well he’s almost certainly going pro in something other than sports, so he might consider it.

Dude if he plays his cards right, he's got a chance to exhaust his NCAA eligibility with 7 figures in his pocket. He can go to fucking community college later if he cares about a degree.

I don't use or care about any social media except what's posted on Surly, so I don't understand the clowning on Owens. I guess he's been talking trash about Texas which if so, fuck him. But his arrangement makes total sense. A 3-star that has never played is not going to transfer to Georgia. But Arkansas State has offered him a very good chance to be their guy next year (their established starter just transferred to Iowa State). If he plays and isn't trash, he'll 100% be in the portal again and moving up the ladder. For Arky State's part, they get to roll the dice on a guy that was good enough to be recruited and developed by Steve Sarkisian and Texas for a couple years, which is a better class of player than they can recruit out of HS. Both sides fully understand the situation, I guarantee it.

He’s also responsible for Harris and Flood. Truth. And the shitshow that was 2025. People need to move the goalposts to remove Sark from ANY responsibility bc they hero worship a 50 year old plus man who in his 40’s was too dumb to play hooky from Saban on a golf course. That’s the reality. You are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. Muschamp is a bright spot and his first choice for DC but the individuals Sark retained while firing PK are all on Sark. But let’s keep pretending it’s Sark Derangement Syndrome instead of a couple of people who hero worship the dude and cannot handle truthful critiques on what went wrong in 2025 bc we don’t want to see it repeated when Sark flushed more than $30 million on this team last year. Thats the reality, if Harris is the architect of another failed season that is on sark and there is no other way to see it.

Yeah, I hope he has to get some quarterback from some place like Ferris State!

5 minutes ago, Reynolds Woodcock said:

Then he’s no worse off than riding the pine at Texas for 4 years and walking away with a degree in kinesiology or whatever (which tbh in this scenario Sark tells him to take a hike at some point anyway).

Look I don’t actually give a shit about the dude so I’m gonna drop it. Unless he wants to put on 70 pounds and convert to C. Then I’m intrigued.

Maybe it’s just me but I wouldn’t call 10-3 with a very difficult schedule a failed season. After a slow start finishing 7-1 is pretty good.

Fixed your conjunctions; they didn't make any sense.

Someone being richer than someone else doesn't make them immune to criticism or ridicule. If anything, it's the opposite.

You and Revolution are clowns. They read the damn text messages. This isn't a disgruntled Stroh agent. Harris and by extension Texas are burning bridges with agencies that rep multiple players because of how they are apparently treating people. This has the likelihood of spreading and may be an explanation as to why the Michigan kids returned for less money or we missed out keeping/retaining a few players.

We all understand the changing landscape of college football this year. I trust Imma and RGBIII when they report that the text messages are fucked. They aren't trusting anyone's opinions via conversation. They read the damn things.

Try not to read everything as gospel, sport. Apply a little common sense if you have it.

Ha. I suppose. It would be fun watching him to try to spin it to the LSU fan base when he's tried to bring in the big names and misses out. Or he gets stuck with Raiola. Well, shit. Just saw he's going to Ole Miss.

I question the long term economic analysis of trading a Texas degree with minimal comp for an Arkansas State degree with a few hundred K. I get that 20 year olds and their “agents” might make that decision, because math is hard.

The play is to be there for a year, show out then portal and get paid to go somewhere else.

Idk if it works but at that Rev share number he can also transfer to Texas and pay for it himself

It's Jonesboro AR. You are like an hour from Memphis and two from LR. Trust me, nobody is staying in Jonesboro.

It’s clear that GM is now the second most important role in the entire program.

It would frankly be inexcusable for a program of our caliber to not engage in a nationwide search to find the most competent person for the job.

There might have been a time when “GM” was simply a cushy title for someone more like a chief of staff to the head coach, but those days are gone.

1 hour ago, immamac said:

Some of you really just are fucking idiots.

Correct. Everything has changed this year.

I said in an earlier post there should be a total restructure in the organization and it will take a while to get there - NFL model - president - >GM -> head coach. Now I don’t know exactly how college football orgs restructure but having the GM report to the HC, maybe? I’d argue the GM should be and could be the #1 position in the program within a decade.

I would like to know, for the guys who came in as 4- and 5-star prospects but never saw much playing time like Owens and Ffffffranch, is it more likely that these dudes who other big programs also pursued are busts or that our staff is so bad at developing talent that lesser players are prioritized in spring, they get to hoard all the opportunity behind the scenes, and that's how come so many touted prospects don't see playing time even when the starters have been pulled?

I haven't yet seen evidence that the guys who portal out of our program go on to prosper, but I will be very interested to see what happens with Owens, Baxter, Ffrench, and the other dudes who had been top HS prospects
