Highland park?   Ok. Good for you.  You’re not gonna believe this but some of us are happy out here.  I know I know it’s not Texas but we make do.

In no way did I insinuate that people weren’t happy out there. And I’ve said repeatedly I love it.

the idea that someone in the surly demo lives in Texas and walks around in Texas and talks to Texans and hasn't encountered a Texan in years who has complained about California or Californians is stupid on its face

You're really gonna keep on with your incredulity. I hear comments from all the time from random people or sources. None are from my friends.  I have a lot of friends, both here and there.

acting like CA is some sort of hellhole compared to TX is delusional

I didn’t say it was a hellhole or even suggested that. I’m not the one comparing it to Texas.

First off, no you don't. Secondly, that's not what you said.

I’m not saying they don’t exist. I’m saying I never even encounter these people.  I go to LA and NYC frequently. Most people I know have been there a bunch, too. So I guess we collectively know how great it is.

Fun fact, some think tank took all of Texas' statutes, and those of every other state, and compiled a "freedom index" based on the number of uses/occurrences/recurrences of mandatory words like "shall" and "must."  Texas had the lowest freedom index in the nation on that basis.

Ok pal. I’m sorry you’re getting worked up. But I do.

Second, I don’t really encounter them. I hear shit on the radio or TV about California, but every person I know in Texas LOVES going there. Some own homes there, some vacation there regularly, etc. Nobody is anti-CA or overly political about it.

I don’t know how saying this is the slightest bit controversial. Just a different perspective.

Gavin Newsom: most recent approval rating = 55%

Greg Abbott: most recent approval rating = 44%

That tells you two things.  First, there are plenty of people in BOTH states who "don't approve of state leadership."  No shit, sherlock, these are polarizing times.  Second....it tells you that MORE Californians approve of their state's leadership than Texans approve of theirs.

Sure, among the 45% of Californians who don't like leadership, you talk to a disproportionate number of them.  Cool.  Anecdotal evidence is not statistical evidence.  Statistics....are.

Do I think California has outrageously high taxes, a homeless problem, and generally dysfunctional government? Yes.

If I had the coin to move to a nice MCM house or garden apartment in Los Feliz, would I do it?  In a motherfucking heartbeat.  You wouldn't even get the offer all the way out of your mouth before I'd be trying to sign paper.

Muledick, Texas wouldn't exist if Houston/Dallas/Austin/San Antonio weren't propping it up.

Not to derail the thread, but you are leaving out the tourists from College Station.  That's what drives the economic engine that is Muledick, Texas, population 2,739.

I was the opposite.  I was forced to move out of Texas for work.  Got a great offer in DC.  I was shocked that these people spoke English.  Now, I'm not sure I could ever live in Texas. My parents are here, as is a lot of my family, UT, Austin, the Alamo.  BBQ.  Other than that, I'm not sure I miss much

I don't want the Marines there.  They should NOT be deployed in this situation.

However, should CA get the ruling on the restraining order, who in the actual fuck enforces it?

One source. I’m on a call with attorneys that just got done bitching about NYC attorneys, as an example. People regularly bitch about various CA governmental agencies that affect their businesses. Not really “friends”. image.gif.3b7b0669b171d4ceca6c84f66fc88f1b.gif

In other news, this domestic deployment of combat equipped troops has so far run up a $134,000,000 tab.

https://apnews.com/article/pentagon-congress-hegseth-signal-hearings-c53cd37c2eae4327dd74e4c717057469

After persistent questioning about the cost of sending National Guard members and Marines to Los Angeles in response to protests over immigration raids, Hegseth turned to his acting comptroller, Bryn Woollacott MacDonnell, who said it would cost $134 million. Hegseth defended Trump’s decision to send the troops, saying they are needed to protect federal agents as they do their jobs.

And he suggested that the use of troops inside the United States will continue to expand.

“I think we’re entering another phase, especially under President Trump with his focus on the homeland, where the National Guard and Reserves become a critical component of how we secure that homeland,” he said.

Any opinion other than total and complete subservient bootlicking is "ON NOES CR!" to the snowflake DT safespace crowd.  This board is reserved for bootlicking and cheering on the cops when they go Fallujah on people inside the United States.

Did you not get the memo?  I think it was circulated at a happy hour.  Or maybe that was an appetizer menu.  I dunno, I was a few Fireman's 4's into things by then.

Sure.  Posting Twitter posts celebrating the cops going Fallujah on people is "news."

Posting anything from anywhere that is contrary to that take is "opinion."

Why would anyone do that when the government is there, happy and ready to be weaponized against people inside the US?  It's a new day, amigo.  Go out and bask in its light.

Which is point zero seven (0.07%) percent of the 185 billion allocated for ICE in the proposed budget.
