Very good book.  It's been a few years since I read it, but remember thinking it would be hard as hell to translate to the big screen.  Trailer looks solid, hope they pull it off.

I remember liking the book more than I did The Martian.

Yeah, the book was good.  I was watching the trailer thinking it was doing a good job while not giving away a major plot point and then it gave it away in the last 30 seconds.  Hollywood just can't help themselves anymore.

I loved that book, I've read it probably 5 times. Very excited to see if they pull it off.

Same. It’s a comfort read and it’s always so good

I'm still not going to watch the trailer. I want *that moment* to be a surprise for me when I see the movie.  I don't want to see how they're going to do it, just yet

Read it a couple of months ago and really liked it. I thought the movie was coming out this year. Don't want to have to wait that long. On a side note, I also read Artemis and thought it was pretty bad.

Absolutely his worst book. Artemis was ass

Considering I count the Martian is maybe my favorite, most rewatchable, film of the last decade or so, I'm so in for this.

We've been listening to the audiobook as a family, and we all love it.  Made it about 3/4 of the way through on our drive to Colorado a week ago.  Can't wait to finish it, but that's going to wait 2 weeks when we drive home.

Oh man, The Martian is such a good movie to rewatch.  Same with Hidden Figures, for me - anything that's science-ing the shit out of a problem = good movie.

Have not read the book and know nothing about it.

I watched the trailer but not sure what the spoiler is either which is good.

Looks like a good movie.

Well, at least they didn't mention the two biggest cliches of the book

[spioler]

That Gosling's character is actually a clone named Mickey, that they have a bunch more of him stowed away onboard.

or that he's living in a training simulation in earth orbit, and that they never got to make the attempt because the Sun and all of the other stars died before they ever built the full ship.

[/spoiler]

Edit: Never mind, wrong book.

Pumped for this.  I am curious to see who they handle Ryland's resistance to the mission.  It seems from the preview it will be different than the book, but maybe I'm not remembering it well.

I stopped watching the trailer half way through when I remembered the book. Even know what you're talking about, I didn't want to see it before seeing the movie. Luckily, it was in time.

Looking forward to it. Read the book a few months ago after hearing positive buzz out of CinemaCon (and already loving The Martian book and movie).

Really enjoyed the read, and also found myself wondering how they would translate much of it to film.

Trailer reminded me of The Martian in its tone. I agree it would be nice if they didn’t reveal so much in a trailer, but these days they kind of have to. And understandably it really leans on Gosling. Hope he’s as good as Damon was.
