Kneeland news is tragic.  No cause announced yet but this was a kid with a ton of potential.  He was injured last year and just starting to figure it out.  He recovered the blocked punt for a TD Monday night.

A 2 star high school prospect that went to 2nd tier Western Michigan.  Elevated himself into a 2nd round pick by Dallas. They gave him 94, which is one of their “special” numbers.  And the media was very high on him as a person and a developing talent.  Damn shame.

the league has a thousand of these players that overcome odds and labels to make it onto a 53.  I love these stories about the nfl and it’s a shame his story ended just as it was starting.

He makes Taco Charlton look like Charles Haley.

Forgot about that dude, so I looked him up.  He is back in Dallas!  For the Renegades.  Good job Jerry.

This isn't sounding good re Calvin Watkins on the ticket about 10 minutes ago

Edit: obviously it isn't good,  But the details seem to involve police and kneeland needing help.

Randoms on Twitter need to fuck off with shit like this until the facts are known. I guess that ain't the world we live in, though.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has issued an official statement regarding the death of Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, confirming that his death was ruled suicide by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

I watch quite a few "police chase" type videos and it's insane how many people try to run from police, turning what could be a minor traffic or possession charge into multiple felonies (and/or risking death or serious injury).

Same.  Especially the ones vs the Arkansas state police.  Those guys are insane and will pit you at 100+ mph.  Certainly the FAFO division.

Terrible. Had to have been more than fear of DUI, but who knows what was going on in his head.

John Oliver had a segment on this very topic recently. A lot of people get in high speed pursuits for no good reason.

Mother fucker.  24. Suicide  even those living out the dreams of millions of kids in the play ground aren’t immune to pressures of life and challenges of mental health. RIP.   Fucking terrible

Permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Such a stupid and ill-informed thing to say. I'll promise you his problems didn't feel temporary to him.  It is heartbreaking.

Didn't say it wasn't heartbreaking. Just saying wait a while and the problems will get better. Problems "feeling" permanent when they're not is not a reason to end your life.

This is true, mental health is no joke. So heartbreaking to see this happen.

Just awful.  What demons get into a kid’s head as he looks so successful?  The Cowboys have always done much to help their players with personal troubles whether Gregory, or Tyron Smith, Josh Brent, or even Kelvin Joseph.  Jerry loves redemption stories.

Like he left home intent on harming himself.  Just sick gor the family.

Terrible. 😢 I cannot fathom the circumstances he found himself in where he determined killing himself was the best option. RIP.

nothing logical about mental illness.

at some point the NFL is going to be really put to task for CTE.

you know a lot of people that don't play sports commit suicide as well.

My heart breaks now for his loved ones. According to the DMN (dallas morning news) he had a history of mental health struggles (not sure what or how long or why) and those who were close to him tried to help him that night by calling for a wellness check. But when cops arrived he had already left the house. That he had expressed suicidal ideations that night to those close to him and that they sought help.

Beyond sad. Heartbreaking. 💔

The 'wait a while and problems will get better' idea may be irrelevant for people who have serious mental health issues. Problems aren't necessarily the issue. Some people are chemically predisposed to kill themselves and you can only prevent it from happening for so long. My best friend lost her son to suicide. He had a great life. They were totally blindsided.

That's valid and certainly very well could be.  But I've had more than one family member go out that way so I'm not completely ignorant of these situations. I personally don't adhere to the line of thinking that anything is certain and inescapable.

Twitter "randoms" break the news many times before any of the official sources. I saw this story before one single source posted it from this account and like many, they think its fake because they only see it at the below account and nowhere else.

My father's best friend did it to himself after failing twice before, he was a well known doctor with a beautiful family.  He thought nobody liked him, and that was the reason.  At the funeral people were turned away from the church and had to stay outside. About 5 years ago his daughter did the same thing.

He played in a handful of games as he was hurt all last year.  He was 24.  High school and directional school ball doesn’t have the power in hits to helmet.  Blaming CTE for this is delusional.
