They rarely played prevent and continued to pressure/blitz him in the the 4th quarter.

I didn't see the Prevent defense some claim, but I did notice less pressure in the 4th.  It may have been they were unable to send the same pressure due to the use of more spread concepts, but they definitely were NOT selling out on blitzing like they were the first 3 quarters.

Let's not pretend it was the same exact defensive gameplan from them in the 4th.

Assuming the staff remains this off-season what’s our off-season grocery list look like?

* RB room has to be cleaned out, I don’t know what the hell they were thinking with this group. RB injuries have essentially derailed two national title births in a row. How do you enter the season with CJ Baxter and Tre Wisner? Warriors for sure, but they are running on bald tires.

* Veteran presence in DB room. Betting on development got you in trouble this year, we need at least one body at S & CB.

* Low Ball Wingo, let him walk to Mizzou if he doesn’t accept WR2 money. You got to inject some speed, hands,  & route running into this room.

* Offensive line has some nice pieces. I really like our tackle duo. Baker has become really solid. Goosby was back to his old self when he didn’t have to worry LG jailbreaks. Daniel Cruz is a kid I’ve seen live, strong as an ox and smart. Nick Brooks has potential but you can’t rely on him to take a starting spot at G. You got to bring in at least one guard and swing tackle type. Most of that room is really young and inexperienced, I don’t think a move like that would abrasive to the roster model.

* Whoever was in charge of backend coverage probably needs to be replaced. Taffee and McDonald are good enough to not be exploited as much as they have at times. Starting Guilbeau at the opposite corner all season was just a net negative. You could have jump started the development of a guy like Kade Philips. What is Gary Patterson up to?

* Jeff Banks likely has to go. I don’t think he’s elite as a special teams guy or a TEs recruiter/developer. It’s year 5 and only Herman’s guys have made a difference. No one can catch or block.

* I think you have to take a long look at Flood as well. Sarks offense is inherently finesse. The big human thing hasn’t translated. Not only are you not physical, but you can’t even get to a spot to get infront of a guy. The state of the Guard spot is also shocking in year 5.

* Linebacker is interesting. You have some nice pieces returning and entering the program. I’d try to lure a guy like Justin Williams out of Georgia. A freak that’s been buried on the depth chart and is from Conroe. Even if he doesn’t start, it’s a veteran plus athlete at the position.

That NFL-style shit has to fucking go.

I still wonder if fall camp last year didn’t help motivate that shit.

Either way it’s making for a soft college-level team, and that shit has to stop.

These old heads will eventually have to accept that the "old days" they long for are never coming back. Whether they like it or not, a team's NIL collective is now the main factor that determines what caliber of players they get. There's a reason why Saban retired.

Or the young guys will have to perform.

The problem is a lot of them are getting paid just to show up and go through the motions.

A bigger problem is that probably applies to a lot of the coaching staff too.

WR- I think this one is on Sark. He is force feeding an inconsistent athlete. Wingo has 75 targets and 40 receptions for 655 yards.

Banks has 2 TE drafted. I am not a fan of his ability to teach blocking. This is another one where I am wondering why Washington is playing over Townsend. Washington has a couple bad drops this year and is not a good blocker. Townsend is physical. Still not a great traditional blocker, better on the move, but he will try to take some's head off.

If you throw the mess in at LG this season, I think it is fair to say the offensive staff is having issues identifying the talent on the roster.

LB: TyAnthony Smith looks like he will be a stud. LeFau's steady decline in play this year is head scratching. There is talent here. Not sure anything needs to done here. Perhaps just a steady veteran to help bridge the gap to play alongside of Smith next year.

This is just my opinion, but I do not think Sark's offense is inherently finesse. He can get pass happy, but he has always wanted to be an inside zone running team. IT or OT mentioned that the staff likes to keep the run schemes open until Fall camp and whittle them down over camp. Sounds logical, but I would love a more measured approach. Most OL in college are suited to type of scheme. Not a lot of them can drive a guy off the LOS in gap scheme and reach a guy on OZ the next play. The ones that can are 1st 3 round type of guys. You want to run IZ recruit to it and drill it. Why is Texas recruiting "big humans" and running OZ, which relies on athletic OL? I will say Sark is very imaginative with the pass game. You do not see that creativity in the run game. Some people thought Neal Brown would help in that area, but it does not feel like Sark is particularly open to suggestions like PK.

Jeff Banks, Duane Akina, Becton and Kyle Flood to be very specific. That has to be the minimum staff changes this offseason.
