i only turn on MSM on the big shit like this, haven't watched since the election.

It's all designed to make you angry and/or scared so you'll keep watching and they'll sell ads.  Some time ago, I disconnected from all of it with the idea of there's literally nothing i need to know RIGHT NOW.  Legacy 24 hour news is just crap.  But sometimes, I get you have to just throw it on (I haven't gotten there yet though).

That tracks. Groypers have a real weird sense of humor.

"If you're reading this, you're gay, LOL" is so Groyper/4chan and not anything I can imagine a liberal "committed enough" to commit a murder would leave behind.

For whatever reason (upbringing mostly I guess my Dad read the DMN and DTH front to back every day), I am severely biased against TV/video news.

If I'm hunting for a story/facts and I get video, I usually curse and hit "back" as many times as I need to.  QED, I haven't watched TV news of any kind in more than a decade.

Opinions have consequences, particularly if they cause or advocate harm to others.

Well when everyone who doesn’t express the approved opinion is categorized at Hitler, I think we may have gotten to the crux of something here

Open mic propaganda

that’s something

The open mic performances were only part of TpUSA. Emails, mailing campaigns, podcasts, YouTube - it was / is a well funded propaganda machine. It was started by Kirk and Bill Montgomery to push conservative narratives onto college campuses. That’s a propaganda group.

Maybe don't espouse fascist opinions if you don't want to be compared to Hitler.

Great watch

She's sassy as fuck and a really good speaker for an interior designer.  She does sometimes rather uncritically accept biased narratives.

Same. Also off Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and no more subscriptions to NY or LA times. I haven't watched news of any kind on TV for a couple of years now.

But honestly, my reflexive opening up Surly every 15 mins is a problem. I'll go through periods where I intentionally avoid DT (board for culture issues)and CR (politics and culture issues) but I lack the self control to really stay away. The nights when I'm on my couch with a book are ALWAYS so much more enjoyable than the phone, but I lack the discipline

Dude just spoke facts that yall didn’t agree with is all /incredulity

He wasn't killed or likely very often threatened for any of this repugnant shit. He was killed and threatened for saying and doing things that offended people like Nick Fuentes.

Always a good feeling sitting out on a cool Illinois evening, enjoying a bourbon, and knowing I don’t agree with any of the points made by the guy who just got eviscerated in public.

Honest question, not trying to be a dick: why do you think people in Trump's orbit--certainly including Kirk--seem to blow such loud dog whistles for white supremacists and white replacement theorists?

Is there no such legal construct as conspiracy any more?  If a mob boss compels underlings to commit a crime, he is a conspirator in that crime, no?  If a podcaster spews hateful rhetoric and advocates for (say) the stoning of gays, and some gays get literally (literally!) stoned, is that not conspiratorial behavior?  It's just "opinion"?  I was taught that freedom of speech doesn't imply freedom from consequences, but maybe I was stoned that day (ahem).

Just a bunch of bullshit. Those reports were out before the casings would even have been picked up of the ground/roof.

It also highlights how willfully stupid people want to be.   The casing that was in that picture also contained 9x19 which indicates the caliber and length of the round, 9mm x 19mm, more often called a 9mm; it is a pistol or submachine gun round.

For people who know a little about guns and ammo, they had to intentionally ignore that part to share this.  IIRC this came out after the knowledge that it was a 30-06 caliber round that was used to kill Kirk.

in descending order

First-much of what the left pisses their pants over is dishonest misrepresentation of what has been said

Second- they will use any lever they can to gain power

Third - they actually believe in whatever “dog whistle” you’re referring

A criminal conspiracy requires an agreement to commit a criminal act, doesn't have to be in writing, but a meeting of the minds, which mostly requires two-way communication in some form, and an affirmative step by some party to the agreement to commit the act.

RICO was developed because of the difficulty of proving the agreement between the boss and the underlings, when they never communicated directly and there were many "cut outs" between them.

Gosh. Some of us might like the luxury of being characterized as vermin/invaders to be exterminated because of our opinions, instead of the right wing approach of hating us just for what race/ethnicity we were born into, where folks following the regime’s urging kill us in El Paso, buffalo, etc.
He wasn't killed or likely very often threatened for any of this repugnant shit. He was killed and threatened for saying and doing things that offended people like Nick Fuentes.

Imagine that. Killed for his opinions? That’s shitty. Killed because his opinions weren’t cruel and white supremacist ENOUGH? Now, THAT’S 2025 America.

So the “left” rioted to keep Biden in power? Huh maybe I need to do more research

The “left” immediately blamed right wingers for shooting. Damn it more research.

They wouldn't have had to riot if you weren't allowed to vote for non-republicans.   One party rule, just like Jesus H Washington and Jesus Jefferson wanted.

Oh and for your 1st statement do you remember “Haitians are eating dogs and cats.”

Don’t know if you’re a dedicated troll or just so unused to THINKING and can only spew what Fox tells you.
I have locked in a bet with Vegas on which it is.

Trump floated RICO today, in a totally nonironic move.

Can I ask a question here, kinda had a light bulb moment. Politicians, like Nancy “Hitlers Homie” Mace, that immediately start their bull shit like she did the day of the shooting, calling the shooter “tranny”, would you agree that she and others do that so they won’t be targeted? Like, she knows they, whomever that is, will be gunning for her next?

And obviously her being a woman that so wants to switch genders is of course known doesn’t really play into my question.

fuxkign white people !!!!

BREAKING: MAGA world flies into panic mode as the grandmother of Charlie Kirk's suspected assassin Tyler Robinson reveals that his entire family is hardcore MAGA.

The Republican narrative has collapsed in record time...

“My son, his dad, is a Republican for Trump. Most of my family members are Republican. I don’t know any single one who’s a Democrat," the suspect's grandmother Debbie Robinson told The Daily Mail.

“I’m just so confused. [Tyler] is the shyest person. He has never, ever spoke politics to me at all," she added.

The Daily Beast reported that both of Robinson's parents are registered Republicans who hold hunting licenses. They appear to be run-of-the-mill conservative gun nuts.

In the immediate aftermath of Kirk's assassinations, Republicans rushed to blame Democrats. Donald Trump pointed a finger at the "radical left" and MAGA influencers, including Donald Trump Jr., gleefully embraced the false narrative that the shooter was transgender.

We now know that the alleged shooter was a 22-year-old white Mormon man from Utah. It seems increasingly likely that he was a far-right supporter of the white nationalist Nick Fuentes. The engravings on the bullets found appear to be references to memes popular within Fuentes's "groyper" movement.  Groypers despised Charlie Kirk because he wasn't right-wing enough for their taste and they believe that he sold out the "America First" movement.

One bullet was engraved with the phrase “Hey fascist! Catch!" but it does not appear to be a left-wing "antifa" message as Republicans originally claimed. Instead, it seems to be a reference to a satirical slogan in the popular video game Helldivers 2. Video games are a crucial cornerstone of the bizarre groyper worldview, along with misogyny and racism.

In the coming days we will no doubt learn more about this twisted shooter and his hateful beliefs but we cannot allow Republicans to slink away without taking responsibility for their lies. Yesterday, they were promising now civil war. Now that it appears the shooter was one of their own, they want to move on.

We must hold them accountable. The shooter is not transgender, is not a Democrat, and is not an immigrant. He's an unstable homegrown white man with access to firearms. America's gun violence problem is a Republican problem.
