I don’t get the fascination with him either. Oh he draws up pretty plays. So do 12 year olds that don’t understand what’s going on.

He calls plays like someone that just picked up fucking Madden and doesn’t know what anything is.

Posted

OP is unpopular but he’s not wrong here. There were inexcusable play calls in this game that simply don’t occur if we have a full time OC. Was it the biggest issue today? No. But if the excuse is that our OL is bad — why is it bad? We recruit well at the position every cycle and apparently last year’s mediocre OL is the best we can ever expect? ST are bad too. We have ample evidence by now. Sark cannot manage this staff AND call plays.

i mean it was dumb to ever call a run play because obviously that wasn't gonna happen, but beyond that what calls did he have wrong today?  there were several touchdowns that didn't happen because the offensive line couldn't give Arch 3 seconds to wait to throw the ball.

I'm just amazed that as soon as we get behind, our passing game is reduced to nothing but 20+ yard passes. Even on like 2nd & 5. What in the actual fuck?

That one is hard to know from TV/online viewing if it's Sarkisian or the QB. I mean the moment Caldwell got in there he found Wingo for a 12-15 yard curl and put it right on the money so he could make a move. I have a feeling that Manning wouldn't have thrown that because he would have been waiting for a deeper route to develop.

Yep. And that's fine. Few can do it. I don't understand why he won't give it up. It's just idiotic.

Yep.  I've been hard on Sark at times, but we had several plays that would've worked if Arch had an extra .5 seconds.  And keeping drives going early would have helped the defense.

This one is almost entirely on the O line.  They were god awful.

I bet there are less failed first down passes than there are runs that get blown up at the LOS leaving us in 2nd and 10 or worse.

last two and a half years are on the o line.   you cant function without them doing their job.

This.  Although D-line was almost as bad, at least through 3 qtr.  Nice to see Simmons finally woke up this season.  Hopefully that will continue.  Hill is still a non-factor unfortunately.

Yea, but I'm younger than you and was not fully aware during the Simms/Applewhite days.

D-Line was good under Baker last year. Got whupped today,  but I don't think he belongs on the same list yet.

I'd move Scott to yellow and judge him over the rest of the season. I'd also put Orphey and Jackson in yellow as well.

Banks, Flood and Milwee all have well established track records and should be replaced, regardless of how the rest of the season goes.

This is getting laughable. 30 year olds are getting p5 jobs and scoring 30 a game. Meanwhile Sark squats on the sideline trying to dial upthe perfect 7 second pass play while his QB is sacked for the 8th time.

We should figure out who is ultimately responsible for the offensive line then!

honestly, what the fuck is he good at other than a charismatic figurehead .  sure as fuck isn't a QB whisper, or able to balance play calling and head coaching.

fuck, i'm curious if he is any better than a fully weaponized NIL funded Herman

Yeah our OL was struggling so much lets continue to call long developing plays!

Too lazy to research but doesn’t really seem like Sark has ever been real successful as the man in charge or not under a coach named Saban? Have serious doubts he’ll have the ability, humility to make major changes.

Watching aggy and they seem to be a way better team at this point.

I think Sark’s top priority is an O line coach. Failure there is ruining everything else offensively. It’s crazy as shit that we have several different head coaches, offensive coordinators and O line coaches since 2005 but we haven’t been able to put together an above average offensive line in 20 years.

Or after 2nd and 8 or worse after a first down run they went for 2 yards or less.  Offense is anorexic.

Sure and also do first down runs for 3 or less yards.

the called QB draw on 3rd and long on their side of the field before we punted the ball into the end zone

The last play of the 1st half where we were backed up against our end zone and had clearly decided to kill the clock with the prior calls. Fine. Take a knee or hand it off again and go into half time. Instead, we have Arch drop back to pass like we’re playing Xbox, he gets sacked hard and we’re lucky it wasn’t a fumble.

I’m sure there are others but these were just obviously illogical. sark was doing his best to make Napier look competent

Agree on its hard to tell who is at fault but that play was designed like that so Arch could get back in the game. He wasn't going to throw in the middle of the field with no timeouts and give gators time to take time off the clock with a sub.  Also I can't see Arch continuing to go long if the coach didn't want it that way.  At some point a coach will say (or yell) take the short routes.  So maybe Arch was trying to play hero ball and not doing what's ask but at some point a coach like Kiffin or Saban will get in their faces.  Sark didn't nothing.

Agree.  I think this is the central issue.  Despite the improvement, we haven't gotten to championship level OL play and it infects everything else.

The nothing but deep shots was pissing me off. The success rate was way too low for that many attempts even if you are trailing. Not sure if they were unsuccessful because of o-line sucking or Arch’s accuracy/timing or both.

I would be using some old school west coast offense routes until the line play gets better. We should have copied the 8-10 yard drag that FL had success a couple of time. The LB was spying most times so put the other LB in conflict to cover the drag or have a RB dump off in the flat.

Throwing the playground bomb in a “P for K” style recess game was probably mostly arch. He’s no doubt added to the list of complaints about him but the number one complaint is he looks deep first, last and only.

Yep. OL is having issues holding up so what do we do? Call long developing pass routes. Where are the quick passes or screens? Sark is so hell bent on calling the perfect play every time. Just hit some short passes and keep ahead of the sticks and keep the drive moving.

Sark equals Jason Garrett calling plays.

Have we thrown a RB wheel route this season ?  Seems that was a major part of sark offense the past couple of seasons.  The offense scheme seem like a different coordinator.

Sark, Flood and Napier all have the same agent. We’re just viewers of Jimmy Sexton’s monopoly on repping SEC coaches.

A lot of folks have not been happy with the OL, many more just stay quiet to avoid being blasted by freakshow idoits saying this is how it is. OL play has been bad for a while now. And the trend line is going the wrong direction.

There is no excuse for starting Stroh. That’s just malpractice.

The first play of our final series was screaming, just screaming for us to call a screen pass.  They were whipping the shit out of our interior all day and we had been bombing away so much that Florida was already in a defense that was expecting more of the same (which we obliged them).  So let them come and see if you can't get a huge chunk of yards cheaply.  Nah, first play drop back look deep (there was a relief valve short and the running back also flared out after a shitty attempt at helping with blocking) Arch gets sacked by pressure straight up the middle from a 4 man rush, helmet comes off, blah blah blah.
