I'll be honest. What really kills that stadium is the breaks in the 300 level. If it were a true bowl, like Texas Stadium, it would be a lot better. Instead you have dead space at the 20s on both sides and both ends. It kills the continuity of the stadium. And then that stupid massive scoreboard that detracts from the on the field action. In 2009, my brother and I had to yell to each other "eyes on the field" because even at the lower level, we noticed our eyes going up. It's just not a place that's conducive to good football watching. It's certainly not a reason to kill the specialness of our game with OU.

hks architects do this with all of their projects. they build cookie cutter soulless stadiums. they tried their best to ruin the new vikings stadium too.

All of this. Anyone that loves Texas/ou in October will hate it if we end up playing ou every year in this gay ass CCG.
If this was the setup back in 2000 how many years in a row would it have been Texas/ou twice a year? This conference sucks just like the shitty $16 burger I ate today.
Disney caters the burgers at shitass world?

Technically, it is. Why they have a WalMart in such close proximity to Jerryworld, Six Flags, and the Rangers’ stadium(s) I have no idea.
Cause shitass rube methhead toothless morons like aggy, arky, baylor, and sooner come to games there. There's a walmart right by joe robbie landshark hard rock stadium in miami gardens too.

1.  That’s what happens when you inexplicably build the stadiums for Dallas pro sports teams in Arlington next to strip malls and Six Flags.
2. I like Six Flags, the Cowboys and the Rangers, but let’s be honest, WalMart is a pretty appropriate avatar for the crowds those venues attract.
The Cowboys haven't been a Dallas team since 1972.

I'll dogpile. JerryWorld sucks - shitty stadium in shit suburb with nothing around it but Wal-Mart. Game atmosphere inside and outside the stadium sucks. Arlen was better when at least it had a bunch of nudie bars instead of bad fast food joints.
Jack in the Box is the food of the gods you fucking moron named after the aggy shithole.

Other than the money, I don't get why Arkansas purposefully gives up a home game every other year when that could actually benefit them against aggy. As it stand, they'll never beat aggy at JerryWorld.

And as I said to mdleast, there is nothing special about playing at JerryWorld. Everyone plays there. Hardly anyone plays at the Cotton Bowl and we actually have history with OU there. So why ever leave that beautiful venue where you have, outside of seats behind the pillars, wonderful site lines and even upper level seats aren't bad? That's like the Rose Bowl moving to the new LA NFL stadium when it gets built. Some games don't have to be about luxury suites, party platforms, and the largest Idiocracytron. Sometimes it can just be about football.

I don’t get why any college would want to give up a home date every other year to play at any NFL stadium. I say this about the Florida/UGA matchup. Jacksonville isn’t exactly a big time destination either.

Wait, the capacity for that stadium is 100k. How in the hell did UT and OU not sell that place out for that game?

The stadium officially only has 80,000 permanent seats.  I don't know why ESPN has the official capacity at 100,000 except for the time Jerry built temp seats all over the place to beat the Super Bowl record. We all know how that turned out.

And Yes Cowboy Stadium is not a good college venue.  Too expensive and too sterile.

High school football playoff games were magnificent at Texas Stadium. Nothing else like it. High school playoff games at Jerryworld = boring.

I hate the fact the UIL has sold out to Jerry and the state title games are stuck there until further notice. I get that a number of teams from the DFW make the title games year after year. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have to be required not to travel once in a while for the state game. When my kids high school made the game in 2016 and we played Aledo. Their trip took all but 30 mins. Mine about nine hours and $700 when the hotel, meals, gas, and other expenses were totaled up. I wish we’d go back to letting the coaches decide because we probably would of played that one at DKR.

ADs and boosters. The latter is what worries me since those whores can sit in luxury with their cocktails and jerk off appetizers while the rest of us get fucked with $75 parking, overpriced food and no State Fair.

I can’t see our AD doing this. He’s not like that idiot Patterson who probably would jump at it.

well the attendance differences btw the three sites kinda forced their decision.

At one point, it was going to rotate between Jerry World, Houston, San Antonio and maybe Austin. When they had the game at Houston, the attendance was terrible compared to Jerry World. And they scrapped that idea and went right back to Jerry World the next year. And the numbers went right back up. So yeah, we are stuck with it indefinitely. I do like the idea of having every state game for the 4 days at one site compared to back in the day, they'd be all over the state and many going on at the same time. This way, every game can be easily televised. I'm sure it's hell for these smaller schools with smaller budgets in the low classifications to have to pony up the money to travel and play these games. But if they are in state, I'm sure they don't bitch too much about it.

Good Lord that is the worst stadium I habe ever been to in 35-40 years and 100s of games all across the country.  No hyperbole at all.

1. Why is there always that low-level background noise that drowns out all sound?  Can’t hear bands, can’t hear fans cheering.  Can’t even hear the PA.  Everything is muffled and you leave the place feeling like you sat next to the engine on a jet.

2.  Why the fuck have a retractable roof if you don’t open it on a day like today?

3. Why is every seat so fucking far from the field?  The front row at the 50 is easily 40 yards from the sideline.

I’d rather play at that painted field parking lot in Lubbock.

The contingent of Texas and OU fans that would like to see this game moved to Arlington (IIRC, spanky recently became a spokesman for that pissant little movement) is small, but after the experience today, they have an obligation to admit that they are absolutely wrong about absolutely everything entailed in that ridiculous position. That atmosphere compared to the State Fair is like comparing Manny Pacquiao to Muhammad Ali. Home and home is a stupid idea as well, but it's far less stupid than that.

Yep all these stadiums today look the fucking same. And all have the same sterile atmosphere.

It's pretty sad. The profession is dying, I'm an architectural engineer and I've seen the pathetic copy paste specs and details from these huge firms. They take zero chances, innovation, or culture into the design. It's why all high rises look the same world wide now too. Systems designed by a team of specialists instead of buildings done by artists.

Yes it cost us a few bucks, but at the end of the day it was worth it seeing my kid on that field with his friends and teammates and giving Aledo a run for their money too.

Don’t get me started on the traffic too. Every fucking road for 10 miles in every direction is under construction so by 2024 it’s a easier flow. It’s a fucking abortion. And I agree Texas stadium was loud and it smelled like football. Never leave the old cotton bowl ever.

Fucking this. It took forever to get in and out of there. It is a traffic death trap and there will never be rail out there. The lines getting into the stadium were also a total mess. We were in line at 10:15 and missed kick. And no, we didn't go to the wrong gate.

It would be nice if Texas and OU's leadership could strong arm the Big 12 and get the championship game moved to the Cotton Bowl. Would be 100x the atmosphere. I also don't see why the city of Dallas would be opposed to it.

Yeah or at least like I said in another thread (only half-jokingly), there should be a clause in the contract that mandates the Cotton Bowl be used for any Texas-ou B12CG rematches.

I don't follow.

How do we get the ccg moved to the Cotton Bowl?  And the Cotton Bowl moved to the Cotton Bowl for that matter?

The stadiums split different too... UT-OU split at the 50/ UF-UGA split at the middle of the end zones...

I've toured the Star, and if Jerryworld had been located in an area like that, it would have been much better.  Not sure if that would work with all the parking needed though.

I've been to ~14 TX-OU games at the Cotton Bowl. One of my favorite days of the year. Love the State Fair, love the Cotton Bowl, just an awesome experience overall.

I went to Jerryworld today. Hated every minute of it. Sterile environment with no heart. The game had 10% of the energy of a typical RRSO. It just felt dead, regardless of which team made a big play.

I really hope the RRSO never moves there. That would kill my love of college football.

This! If we end up having to play ou in the CCG again next year fuck Jerry world, we'll play em in the Cotton Bowl.

Relax, people.  The TX-OU game is never going to move to Jerryworld.  Think about it-- do you honestly believe the billionaire luxury-suite owners at either university would willingly give up a home game in their already-paid for luxury suites in our home stadiums, and PAY Jerry Jones for the right to use luxury boxes in HIS stadium?  That will never, ever happen.

The only thing keeping the game at the Cotton Bowl is tradition, and there is no tradition in Jerry's pro stadium in Arlington.  If it ever moves, it'll go home-and-home because that's the only acceptable alternative to the billionaire luxury suite owners.  But even that deicison is a long way off.  RELAX.

I hear ya. It’s a miserable, cavernous environment for college football. I’m an Ag, and our fanbase—as well as the Razorbacks’—is overwhelming against our current arrangement of playing the annual A&M/UA series there each year.

Congrats on a great season!

Go fuck yourself, aggy.

There should be a Big XII bylaw that says if TX/OU meet in the CCG, it's at the Cotton Bowl.  You can have any other slap dicks play it at Jerry World, but TX/OU stays where it belongs.

Fuck Jerry World in it's sterile ass.

It's not as high profile as Jerry World but you have the same deal in Houston with Reliant / NRG whatever. Meanwhile Rice Stadium is just sitting there about four miles away. It's extremely well-designed, open-air, once hosted a Super Bowl, and in Houston's prettiest neighborhood, and adjacent to another one where there is a ton of bars and restaurants.

Fucking NRG is a space ship in the middle of a parking prairie. You can't walk to shit except for chain restaurants for the most part. And yet that is the neutral site of choice whenever big-time programs play in Houston. It sucks -- it's worse than the Astrodome was, and for CFB the Dome sucked.

You shut your whore mouth. Arlen has Mega-lo Mart, Sugarfoot's, and Strickland propane. It's awesome.

Another glimpse into the crystal ball of what this rivalry would look like at jerryworld, how about the lady during tv timeouts up in the massive big screen with the “do we have any longhorn fans hereeeeeeeeeee, let’s see you dance on screen” then for the next 2 min we get to watch the camera pan to longhorn fans doing that dumb fucking dance. At the cotton bowl we get to hear the band, smell corn dogs frying and Texas fight from side to side. I don’t think I heard texasssssss from one side to fighttttt from the other side. I literally sat in my seat motionless  most of the game.

Im still mad this morning.
