At this point anyone still bearish on Herman needs to exit the Surly family.  This dude is straight up hilarious & gives zero fucks.

When we get back to really good Texas football consistently,  his teams are gonna have some massive cojones.

#3 is  "SPLITS WIDE  EVERYONE GO DEEP"

What is Herman's beef with Candi Fisher?

I keep expecting this to be revealed as a photoshop.  In a year of awesomeness this rank high to quite high. One of the best things about this is that it was never meant to be revealed to outsiders. This is not contrived toughness. This is straight genuine attitude

Taking a safety can be the smart move when playing a game of field position and your punter sucks UGA balls.

Sometimes you do this when the the other team has a truly scary return guy or when you don't trust your punt blocking.

Taking a safety is the smart play in limited instances. Up by 6 points with 30 seconds left and backed up on own goal line. Rather than punt and risk a block/fumble and potential touchdown for the opposing team OR making the punt and giving the opponent the ball on your 40 yard line, you instead give them 2 points and then pin them back at their own 25. Either way the opposing team needs a touchdown. It’s about giving them the worst possible field position.

But would it really be a play to have on your wristband? It makes more sense to me that it is the response to a corner blitz as suggested above.

Saw a juco bowl game this year and the team secured the win with a self-imposed safety. 8 seconds left. Up 6. Fourth and 10 from own 20. OL holds the shit outta everyone. QB runs around like herp-a-derp until almost caught then out the back of the endzone. No time left on the clock. Game blouses.

This season is a bonanza of new catch phrases.

“Take the loss...”

“Ok, cool...”

And now this one.   Feels like we are in a golden age.

Yep. The quality of Longhorn chirpiness has gone through the roof. The last time it was this good was telling Missouri's DL exactly what was coming at them, and before that you have to go all the way back to "It don't make a shit."

My guess is "Take A Safety" is what they check into if they recognize a CB blitz like the one that got them in the B12CG. Not an instruction but a reminder of last time they didn't see it coming. Probably just a self aware rename of a protection they already used.

We could be passing into sPIqr territory here.
