But Ossai is a perfect fit for the position he occupies. He does make a lot of plays all over the field so why isn’t his rush better? That’s what I don’t get.

He’s not playing B-backer right now, so he’s not getting many opportunities to rush the passer. He’s not a terrible rusher, but he’s also not great at this point either. He’s a second year player and he may never be an elite pass rusher, but we certainly won’t ever know if he doesn’t get more pass rushing reps in practice and games.

right we don't have the skill to do what he is asking.

No team has the skill to do what Orlando’s asking. There’s a difference between Orlando horribly utilizing our personnel and is not having the skill set to play the 3 tite. The problem with the defense is overwhelmingly more due to bad coaching (Including fundamentals and poor utilization of the scheme) than players not fitting the defensive system we run.

We have the skill sets to run the 3 tite if it were well coached and our personnel probably fit that system better or just as good as any other system.

Holy shit the last few games I’ve only been paying attention to how many players Orlando rushes and from where they come. I did not even notice they moved Ossai out of B-Backer. I’m shocked by that.

Ossai is a bad pass rusher even though he has 2 sacks all while spending 95% of his time in coverage?  Seems like he should be rushing the passer more given how MOTHERFUCKING EFFICIENT HE IS!  This just proves that Orlando is a complete dolt.

Our offense has better overall personnel than our defense for sure, but the coaching on defense has been much, much worse.

I’d be fine with a 4 man front moving forward, but we wouldn’t be getting a lot of pressure even with 4 down lineman this year. We don’t have anyone who’s even above average at rushing the passer on the roster currently.

We wouldn’t have a terror coming off the edge at DE, although Ossai could be at least adequate if we actually made rushing the passer his job.  But I actually think Ojomo would be a plus pass rusher as the 3 technique DT.   He gets a lot of penetration lined up as the nose in the 3 tite front and is quick off the snap.

I think the only real weakness would be the DE opposite Ossai.  Roach, Graham, Sweat and whoever else aren’t going to do much as edge rushers.

Splitting hairs on who might or might not be good as DE is sad given we'll never know. Instead we'll watch 11 guys struggle to be passable in the current scheme that obviously does not work for them

Just LOL at the inept full house blitz on 3rd down that gave up the easiest TD ever.  Fuck off Orlando.

Wide open RB on a fuxking wheel route and  zero tackling skills

what a joke

If you were paid in the top 10% of people in your field but performed in the bottom 10%, you'd be fired.

That delayed blitz was amazing.  It wasn’t even blocked, but he literally started from so far away that the QB had time to complete his drop, move in the pocket and casually make the play.

Orlando designs plays to fail.  Even Shawn Watson was just terribly unimaginative, but the plays themselves work on the chalkboard at least.  Orlando is the most inept coach I’ve ever seen.

Remember last year when our defense looked miserable coming out of the bye and we lost to Oklahoma State? What the fuck does Orlando do during bye weeks?

I like to look back and see all the “we don’t fire coaches midseason” posts

It really makes the mediocrity feel good

If he’s not gone tomorrow, everyone better start the clock on Tom. It means he doesn’t have the balls and common sense to make tough decisions.

in fairness, coverage on the crosser and the TD pass wasn't bad.  Passes were spot on. Even the pass rush wasn't bad.  It's a matter of milliseconds, Texas doesn't have those positive milliseconds this year

The clock on Tom is already started. Jesus, this is why nothing ever changes. People can’t accept reality. Tom is looking at a pile of shit and won’t make a change. Same with his other coaches from the first season. He just pissing in everyone faces.

Lol, his blitz design/pass rush is laughably bad. And the crosser was open by 3 yards.

Sounds like he was mocking the type of shit Orlando says at his press conferences

the crosser had a Tex guy #6 in front and 2 dbs withing a couple of yards. Was a hell of a precise pass by their QB.

UT will win. KSU will fuck up on the passing game with INTs.

Another 3rd down where Jamison was unblocked but the blitz didn’t get there because he started from 15 yards away.

Why not call a blitz every play? The receivers are open either way.

Skylar Thompson's career-high passing yardage was 218 against Baylor. He now has 220 and the 1st half isn't even over yet.

Another vintage Orlando performance circa 2018-2019.

Repost from game thread.

The purpose of a delayed blitz is to surprise the offense when they don’t think a blitz would be coming. We run the delayed blitz all the time in obvious blitzing situations. That has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.
