  3. If any of our first 5 plays in the first quarter are a pass to a stationary receiver behind the line of scrimmage that results in a loss, I swear to everything that is holy that I will run out on to the field and take a dump 10 feet in front of Sark.

  4. I am sitting in my SUV in the driveway, charging my phone, smoking my 1:1 CBD/THC vape and having my next-to-last cold beer. Already used app to initiate State Farm claim. My shingles no longer live on my roof. And the back neighbor psycho dogs who historically want to kill me when I am in my yard, now can. Fence is kaput. I have a few generators to share with neighbors. Glad I flew home yesterday. The 5-8 pm show was impressive. The day will show how fucked we are. Not really. Louisiana is 6 X more than Katrina fucked right now. Less dead, to be sure. But this was a fucking disaster of epic proportions.

  8. That's a bullshit way to look at the problem. They need to look at CURRENT mortality rate, not cumulative. Covid slammed into NYC and NJ early on, and they had a huge spike in mortality with nearly no weapons at hand. New Jersey has 8.9M citizens and is currently losing 13 per day, for a mortality rate of 0.146 persons/100K. Mississippi has 3.0M citizens and is currently losing 26 per day, for a mortality rate of 0.867 persons/100K, or 6X the mortality rate of New Jersey. I am so fucking sick of seeing partisan twists on the data. Be better.

  10. I didn’t see it started. The fall camp is nothing but beer talk. We’ve got our QB named. We are healthy-ish. We have substantial talent at every level on the defense. We have a plus offensive line (probably) We have the best RB room in college football Our TE’s are now sponsored by Surly- what could possibly go wrong there I’d rather not talk about the WR core- but presumably Sark can scheme around that and there’s always Kai Money We have a staff not run by a room temperature moron or a sociopath, or a burn out who was coasting on the fumes of a previous decades good work The line is texas -8 and the over under is 58 I say we fuck them up and win by 21 on our way to the biggest surprise season since Shock The Nation in 1990 What a glorious week. Rejoice- game week is upon us

  12. A dedicated thread for those who publicly fucked around and found it -- especially those who encouraged others to follow their lead. 1. Caleb Wallace, the "Freedom Defender" of San Angelo. Hosted a July 4 Freedom Rally in San Angelo and got sick later that month. Would not see a doctor because, his widow explained, he did not want to contribute to the statistics. Turned to ivermectin and high doses of zinc and vitamin C but went into a coma and died on August 8, a month and four days after his hosting of a superspreader event. He leaves behind a pregnant wife and three kids; you can find their GoFundMe if you want to. And maybe you should -- his widow did not share his views and masks up regularly. Not her fault nor their kids'. 2. This Tomball woman, named Karen because of course she was, was the OG of this genre of demise for me. I posted about her on Facebook in early April of 2020 and about a half-dozen people thought there was some kind of fakery going on because they refused to believe people would be this stupid and/or blinded by a literally lethal partisan political psychosis. One dude took me to task for dunking on the recently departed when all I said was what you see below was her last post on social media, noted that she had died, and added, "No telling how many people she infected and/or encouraged to ignore the facts about this 'media-driven' alleged conspiracy as she went on her merry way armored with her 'common sense, a sense of direction, faith, a will to fight, and of course, guns' instead of joining the rest of the sanitizer-seeking 'sheep.'" The guy who sort of challenged me was not a Trumper -- he is a very left dude who had not yet realized how bad this shit was going to get: Jesus. Anyway, as these idiotic deaths continue to pile up and their news is scattered over four of five threads on here, I thought we needed just the one specifically dedicated to St. Gritty of Philadelphia, patron of FAFO.

  14. Counter-counter point: the government is going to be responsible for rescuing and taking care of people who stay behind, so it is certainly a reasonable for them to seek to reduce that burden. Also, if the last couple years hasn’t made it obvious, but we have a lot of morons in this country who are unwilling to take responsibility for their own health and well-being and end up burdening everyone else with their donkey brained decisions.

  15. Yeah because bijan sucks and card is a noodle arm INT machine with small hands and the entire defense is a bunch of underweight and slow anemic players. The majority of this team is returning talent and they lost by a combined 13 to not go undefeated last year. The problem hasn't been players or scheme the last 4 years it's been having a stupid shithead egomaniac at head coach who was completely out coached nearly every game. Sark and his staff aren't a bunch of smart guys who have never coached 5 stars. They are used to exclusively coaching elite college and pro level talent. I get the whole "the last 11 years have been bad" argument, but this isn't charlie fucking strong and his band of complete morons. This also isn't fucking Case McCoy taking over for Colt. It's Hudson Card the #2 rated QB in his class and a top 100 recruit beating out an equally impressive redshirt junior in Casey Thompson. If Card has a mental meltdown he will just get yoinked for Casey, but if you think that his mental fortitude is weak then idk what to tell you. There is absolutely no evidence supporting that. Buncha dumb fucks in here acting like they want to lose instead of admitting what is in front of their face. This team is good. It's going to win a lot of games.

  16. Counterpoint: the government should stay out of people’s lives. They should take personal responsibility for their own health and well-being. It’s a massive overreach of the government to force people to do something like that. These are free people.

  17. I was thinking about that comparison the other day. In order to claim a vaccine exemption, one must watch a one hour video of COVID patients being cared for in the hospital, sit through financial counseling, and speak with an attorney to make sure one's will has been written.

  18. ESPN doesn't care because ESPN had eyes on ESPN. ESPN cares about ESPN and promoting ESPN. If you don't know it already, ESPN sucks. It is too bad they have so much power and control so much of sports television. They are an insufferable lot that I have to tune in to every now and again in order to watch a college football game. Beyond CFB, I never watch ESPN. If ESPN imploded tomorrow I'd dance a jig in the street and put on a top hat so awful it would scare women and children and start fights in south Texas bars.

  19. The assault on the Capitol was an attempt by the Republican Party to overthrow American democracy. Not nearly enough people were shot for that attempt. It is critically important to not let the traitor Republican Party get away with it’s attempt to simply gloss over that fact. They attempted to destroy democracy and are continuing to try to do so. That is a fact.

  20. An unvaccinated white guy smugly taking credit for vaccination rates amongst whites while blaming the current state of the pandemic on unvaccinated blacks sure is something.

  21. I strongly encourage you to look back through my posts and find the one where I debunked that stupid racist theory and showed that unvaccinated white Americans comprise twice the # of people as all unvaccinated minority Americans combined. Fuck you and your concern trolling, racist self. Negged.

  22. Terrible takes flowing all over the place today. Yes, because we pay them and they can transfer as much as they want we are teaching them that their word and effort just aren't important. Which is weird because adults have been paid and allowed to transfer jobs as much as they want for our entire lives. Even during the olden days you are wistfully nostalgic about back when a man's word and effort mattered. So I guess what I'm saying is you're full of shit.

  24. I may be in the minority here, but I'll always give to the Red Cross. My parents live up near Canyon Lake and their house was largely wiped out when the lake topped the spillway in 2002. We finally are able to get back in to our subdivision after about a week, and it's just one of those "Where the hell do you start?"-type deals. My dad and I were out working in the electrical panel, so that what was left of the house wouldn't burn down when electricity was turned back on, and securing a bunch of loose wires that formerly went to some outbuildings. It was balls hot and we had been at it for the majority of the day and it still seemed like there was so f-u-c-k-i-n-g much to do...it literally felt like a hopeless deal, because damn near all we had was lost or ruined. About that time, the RC comes through in a van with a hot meal and plenty to drink and some supplies that we kinda needed, but maybe could have done without. And most of all, encouragement. Let us know if you need anything, or if there's anything we can do for you. Some Menonites were rolling in to the area and were coordinating with the RC, and they said they could send them by if we felt we needed the help. I know this is anecdotal and in the grand scheme of things it was small, but the RC picked us up that day, and I'll not forget it.

  25. This game goes one of two ways. 1. Sark unveils the most potent UT offense since the halcyon days of Colt, and PK’s defense suffocates them to the tune of 49-10 beat down that is never in doubt and would be worse except they scored a TD against our scrubs in garbage time and our offense is the 3rd string to start the 4th quarter. 2. The offense operates with hesitancy and growing pains as various flaws like crappy WR and suspect OL are exposed in the first game of the season for a RS frosh QB learning on the job. It doesn’t matter because PK’s defense suffocates them and we still waltz through with a 28-3 win and lots of tape for our offense to learn from going forward. Either way, we’re not losing this fucking game. Our defense is going to be too damn good for that to happen. Could we be disappointed in the offense? Sure, but this defense will keep us in every game on our schedule, and will flat out win most games for us.

  26. A fair, balanced note from Perroni. (Let's also bear in mind - when he refers to "too many off-field concerns" - they just had one guy arrested with a substantial amount of a drug, another with a weapon and dope. With Bledsoe, I'm sure their only concern was eligibility, but let's just throw out a broad "too many off-field concerns" reference ... sure. And also imply that A&M is a bastion of high-character takes.)

  27. Not a lot of man on the street stuff coming out of the city. News coverage is on repeat since crews can't get to areas of the city blocked by power lines and debris. Speaking of charities, my son has recently been feeding musicians, other hospitality people, and various homeless type freeloaders hit hard by Covid and benefits running out. He basically sets up at Trumpet Mafia concerts and events with some food and drink and does the barbque thing or preps at his house and then serves. He is a musician and has not set up any kind of charity for tax purposes so he has been doing this out of his own pocket against my advice, since he himself is struggling even before this. He has been getting his crypto mining set up with the help of some sweet govt loan he got but has been sending up the warning signals that that $ is running out, hence my advice to hold off on the charity, get things up and running, and then dole out some charity $. He insists that the community needs him right now and refuses to wait. He gets this from my ex wife who was a bit bat shit, but also was a ridiculously frustratingly charitable person. Most of his work is centered around the Trumpet Mafia group concerts and events. Not sure of their status. Once I get things figured out, I might enlist the Surly Mafia to see if we can get him legit and get some $ flowing. Just streaming unfiltered thoughts right now to pass the time, so take it with a grain of salt or whatever the saying is.

  28. Surprised ol' Mack isn't trying to get a little action going on this thing. "If the city is without power for 21 days or less, your Tempurpedic purchase of $5k or more is free free free!"

  29. Morgan Freeman voice: No one really knows what happened to @alphahorn. Some people think he left Surly, sank into deep depression and threw himself from the 360 bridge to his death. Others think he left Surly to focus on alternative covid-19 treatments and is on the cusp of discovering something as effective as mRNA vaccines in keeping a gasping covid death at bay. But for me and my money? Well, I like to believe he’s in a seedy motel room, one that charges by the hour, getting pegged by @NowThis and using horse paste as lube.
