I just fucking love this place. ================================================ "these fucking coaches are stupid. It is obvious we just need to put our best players on the field and they refuse to do so" (Josh Moore drops a pass) "Why the fuck is Josh Moore in the game? We need someone who can catch the damn ball" (Kai Money catches pass, fails to break a tackle) "why the fuck is Kai Money in the game? Those dumb-ass coaches need to get their best athletes on the field" (Jordan Wittington breaks 3 toes by stubbing them on wet grass) "goddammit! we are china dolls! Why can't the coaches pull their heads out of their asses and realize having fast guys who can't catch and guys who are awesome but always on IR won't help us win. You need to at least get someone not the field who will catch and can stand up to an Austin breeze without breaking his clavicle" (coach looks around: "Money, you're up." Money: "fuck that shit corch. I don't think you checked with the guys on Surly. Their advise is to get JS-N from the portal yesterday and get his ass in the game!")14 points

I live in the boonies. My nearest neighbor is probably a quarter mile away as the crow flies. No streetlights, dark and quiet at night. A few years back, about midnight on a weekend, my dogs go apeshit. I look out the front door and there is a pick up that I have never seen before in my driveway. I turn on the porch light and the lights on the covered parking and walk out on the front porch, and wave, thinking some dipshit is lost and pulled into the wrong drive way. It never crossed my mind to get a gun, or call the cops, or act confrontational. I can't imagine living with the mindset that an unknown car in my drive way automatically means somebody wants to do me harm. Anyway, about 10 seconds after I came out of the front door, the driver rolled down his window and shouted "sorry, wrong house, sorry to disturb you" and backed out of the drive way. No one got shot, no drama, no hysteria. Imagine that.9 points

Yeah but no. It’s not my scene but: 1. It’s not designed to piss other people off 2. I don’t have to breathe shit or clean shit off my car when a low rider bounces 3. It’s illegal to bounce on public roads but rolling coal isn’t in Texas 4. Lowriders produce no more pollution than a regular car One of these things is something that Mexican dudes do because they think it’s cool and bothers no one. The other is the vehicle equivalent of spitting in someone’s face and is done by rednecks. No equivalency.9 points

I'm encouraged by: the attempt to build an impressive staff with developmental chops esp. compared to Herman and Strong staffs the quick starts in games show strong preparation focus and knowledge of opponents and not just going "to do what we do" the consistent attempts to feed playmakers on offense the use of motion to help the QB seeing the defense seriously attempt to course correct by playing more single high and actual 3-4 this past game the aggressiveness to go get Xavier Worthy at a position of need the overall level of recruiting success in 2022 the demonstrated ability to be explosive on offense in spite of our limited weapons special teams has been a net plus I'm discouraged by: the stubbornness on defense to run a scheme that pretty obviously didn't fit our best talent the whole dang Arkansas game, they are decent but they whipped us the slow start to OL recruiting, our biggest position of need the inability to craft a Big 12 average OL during the offseason we have one of the best players in all of CFB and we are 4-3 I guess overall my expectation is that coaches will make mistakes along the way and their tenures will mostly be defined by their ability to course correct quickly and reliably (think Saban having Major as his first OC in 2007). We have not had a "magical" first season which was semi-possible with a bit of luck but I am now watching to see what changes Sark makes to address any mistakes and take this team forward. I think Sark is a reasonable bet to succeed here but no sure thing. To my mind, I like what he has done to this point more than what Herman and Strong had done to this point specifically I like this staff much better than either of those coach's first staffs. The offense, Sark's specialty, is markedly more explosive even with mostly Herman's players. But there have clearly been missteps as well. Just have to see how it plays out.8 points

Having one draft pick on your OL doesn’t do that much. Just look at last year when our OL sucked and that was a 1st round talent OL. If by perception, you mean 11 straight years as one of the best DCs in the country, then sure. I’ll counter your cognitive dissonance with some recency bias and say let’s see if he can figure some stuff out over the bye week and through second half of the season before we all proclaim he must be fired. It’s not like we’re gonna accomplish anything this year anyway.7 points

Coombs got more than a full season and Mike Stoops got eight, but I guess those count as "quick" decisions if you squint hard enough7 points

Yes. Because they can't even enjoy a fucking ALCS game without injecting politics into it. Like everything else, when they accuse liberals of making everything political they're just projecting.7 points

Our team as sucked shit through a straw for a dozen years, has currently been rejected by urban meyer because he doesn’t think you can win at Texas, the current head guy has blown two huge games in a row with massive leads and shown little ability to adjust in game, our OL is showing no improvement over time, our DL is actually regressing, and our DC doesn’t seem to understand down and distance, and we’re an underdog to a well coached Baylor team this weekend with a chance to get buttfucked on TV for the third straight week…but THESE are the optics you’re worried about, that even Stewart might take a bag and go to aTm? Well, ok guy. This is definitely the right hill to make your stand. it’s like repeatedly bitching about your jacket having a hole in during last February’s winter storm. Oh, THATS the big problem, is it?7 points

Have you re-read your posts today? You need to put on a helmet and run into walls or something. Better yet, when your wife turns the corner in the hallway, blind side her with a semi-legal tackle. You'll feel better.6 points

I finally caved last night. And it turns out she's right and this made absolute logical sense. Turns out, after I leave, Wife(who works from home) puts the dogs and one set of bowls outside until they start whining. Then in for half an hour, then back outside. This way she can have one set inside and one outside. Then she brings the bowls in at night so that racoons or rats don't find them (we back up to like this wooded alley thing). Me : Wow. That makes perfect sense. Her : Then better damn well put that on your fucking football forum, too6 points

from all accounts, there were many mistakes made here. from sloppy hiring/lack of vetting, to budget slashing causing shitty workplace (causing some of the more experienced people to walk), to plain lack of oversight when it comes to important props that can actually kill somebody. the armorer should've been on top of her shit. the first ad should've been better informed and stayed in his lane. i'm not sure where the propmaster was, but he/she should've been involved. a lot of things went wrong that day. but for better or worse, baldwin the actor was not part of the problem. he should not be checking the gun nor should he be expected to, especially if he's not an experienced gun user. baldwin the producer (or at least people who work under his umbrella) should've been better with the hiring and set conditions, and then when he's handed a cold gun, he would be confident that it is actually a cold gun. unfortunately, on these indie sets, corners often get cut. and it's not to "make money", it's typically because "shit is expensive and they haven't got much money". i have a producer buddy (who's actually from texas and is a mega-trumper) who got into some shit when one of his locations couldn't afford to "keep everyone safe" and they got hit pretty hard with legit sexual harrassment/assault accusations. the "big hollywood" that the right loves to rail against is not on trial here. this shit isn't happening on the warner bros backlot. this is an indie production, and because of stuff like this, you're likely to see fewer of them.6 points

let's not call Caleb Williams a typical "backup QB" also the Colombi TTU game was on a player who knows better, not a scheme. i understand your frustration, but this isn't a Todd Orlando situation where he is being terrible across the board. "small time west coast guy" - don't shit on a guy. His results using DFEI (so normalized results) speak for themselves. the guy was a fantastic fucking hire when he was hired. Boise - 2010: #2 DFEI 11: #15 12: #29 13: #71 Washington - 14: #18 15: #4 16: #4 17: #12 18: #7 19: #15 20: #65 (in 4 games, i think they got some kind of wild adjustment for only playing 4 though, because all of the underlying results have them no lower than 51? unadjusted had them at #39) even now, they have the #36 DFEI team in the country (includes preseason ratings i think, which had them as the #31 team in the country, so not like it is holding their ranking way up) straight up: opinions like this are the problem. shitting on a guy who has been on staff all of 7 games, who has a long history of being a successful coach with basically all of the underlying, adjusted, advanced statistics at the P5 level (and G5 level honestly) is dumb. there are issues there but reassigning a guy on a 3 year deal with $3.4 million remaining based on seven games with a defense that has been undercoached and significantly under developed for the last 10? years is dumb as hell. at what point can we pretty clearly say it's the players and not the coaches this year? Texas depth chart going into the OU game had upper classmen as starters at every position other than FE (Jerrin Thompson was in an OR with Schooler) Seniors at both DE slots, senior WLB, seniors at both CB positions, seniors at boundary and STAR. hiring, then re assigning this guy 7 games into a season (or even after the season) is exactly the kind of move that got Texas in this situation in the first place.6 points

I’m taking my 7 year old son tonight. I’m hoping it’s a lifetime memory for both of us. To UTF’s point, I am waiting it out on StubHub/SeatGeek and expect the price to be fairly reasonable ~1 hr before gametime when holders start dumping inventory.6 points

fuck off with this opinion and view. He is not an "abject disaster" on defense, saying this is dumb and you should feel dumb. This is on the same level as that moron who said if you take Bijan and Worthy off the Texas team they are just Kansas. one of the reasons people are willing to give him a little more time is that he has a TRACK RECORD of success at both G5 and P5 programs using any advanced defensive statistic you choose. also lol at comparisons to tOSU. They made a change with Coombs (who was the DC last year too, just not a play caller) and who has been with the program for most of the last 10 years and who is one of the top DB coaches in the country. One of the games that was pointed at with him being such a terrible play caller on defense was the Tulsa game...and we found out after the fact he hadn't even called the plays in that game. Plus Tulsa was and is a worse offense than Minn or Oregon. re: OU. they kept Mike Stoops for Lincoln's first full year, then kept him through the Texas game in 2018, had McNeill as interim. then they hired Grinch in Jan 2019. They made very little "immediate" change (i mean 1.5 seasons in they made a change) but Stoops had no track record of being good and was only fired after Texas ran the same play like ten times and kept gashing that defense in a win. So no, neither of those are really comparable in any way to this current situation. the most likely comparison is Riley + Stoops > Grinch, and that was like 1.5 years after Riley was hired.5 points

He's wrong because he's framing it as a "tragedy" when the Astros mowed down the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers (all teams who were also cheating) on their way to the World Series. The only reason it was ever the big story it became was not because of what the Astros did but because of who they beat along the way. It's just more sanctimonious bullshit that plays into the wheelhouse of weak fans like SBBruin, Helo, and MCBreath.5 points
