  2. Goddamn I’m not reading that stupid shit. You should feel bad for having an aggy friend and you should feel worse for posting your dumbass conversation with aforementioned aggy friend

  5. At this point, I really have no desire to speak or be friends with anyone that supports this shit, family or not. There needs to be regulations on guns. You don’t need ARs for hunting or to protect yourself. Allow hunting rifles and handguns and limit how many a person can buy. Must go through a year of courses and must carry insurance. Must need to take continuing education every 2 years to maintain weapon license. I’m a healthcare professional and what I do would never even remotely kill a person. Yet I had to go through school for 8 years, had to take multiple board tests, am required to hold insurance and take 12 hours of CE a year to maintain my license. Yet an 18 year can go buy a deadly weapon that can take lives with no requirements. The fuck is wrong with this country and why the fuck won’t reasonable and responsible gun owners hold their politicians accountable? Especially those with kids.

  6. Do yourself, and everyone else, a favor and sit this one out for a couple of days. You’re single-handedly fucking the thread up massively.

  7. 218 pages and we have come full circle. The first page on this thread with a workplace shooting in Illinois and now a shooting at a parade on the Fourth of July. America's birthday. I've been thinking about birthdays a lot lately. We celebrated a family birthday recently. The usual affair--some gifts, a special meal followed by cake and ice cream, and an off-key rendition of the birthday song because we're not choristers but we're enthusiastic and corny when it comes to milestones. And birthdays are a milestone; at least for many of us they are. Birth and death sandwich all the milestones any one cares to commemorate in between, but those two acts are the lighting of the candle and blowing it out forever. So how odd that yesterday I'm reading about a pregnant abused ten year old in Ohio traveling to Indiana to receive an abortion since her home state forbids it. But in two days, the Indiana Legislature is set to revisit their laws on abortion with an eye to banning or restricting it completely. Indiana, the state where residents from nearby states that have more restrictive gun laws--states such as Illinois, travel to buy guns. Does it strike anyone else as incredibly and intolerably sad that a ten year old may have that reproductive care option removed while an older male, such as her abuser, could travel to the same state (actually in Ohio, there is no need to travel), purchase a gun, and then should he choose, visit cruelty and suffering upon even more people? Ten years old is not pleasant for every child in this country, but it should be dammit. As adults, we talk a lot about 'deserve' or 'deserving.' Who deserves this or that and who doesn't or how nobody promised anyone a rose garden and all the meaningless phrases that we use because we cannot bring ourselves to create a country where ten years old is that age where every child has a special meal and cake if they want it, and the people who love them sing a hokey song, and all the laughter that only ten year olds can laugh. That laugh that starts out with a giggle and crescendos into a fall-down-on-the-floor, holding the stomach, thank god I am ten years old in this moment laugh. Ten year olds deserve to celebrate being ten--not by giving birth or dying at the hands of a person with a gun.

  8. You don’t have to respond to every post. We also don’t need recruiting guidance. Stick with weed, baseball homerism, and shutting the fuck up on this thread.

  10. What the fuck are you talking about? Imammac rarely suspends anyone, much less bans them. And when he does it’s usually for spouting racist shit repeatedly or being a repeat shitposter who acts in bad faith. And he isn’t exactly an overwhelming presence in the recruiting forum. You’re on a fucking roll this week. Shooting for a spot in the Mt. Rushmore of Dipshittery over here?

  14. Big deal.... he wrote an opinion piece, without even saying anything. Kinzinger runs laps around Romney in standing up against the GQP, and realized that in doing so there was no place in the republican party for him. But he did it anyway. Mitt is smart enough to know exactly why Trump is so bad for this country, but too much of a fucking pussy to risk his precious senate seat. I don't need some rich f'n congressman to tell me things are fucked up in this country. I need our elected officials to do something about it. Here are the things in life Mitt prioritizes: 1.) Mitt Romney, 2.) Mitt Romney, 3.) Mitt Romney........................................................................97.) other shit. Sure, he's more deserving of praise than the MTGs, Boeberts, Gaetzs of DC, but that's a pretty low bar. He blasted Trump in 2016, but once Trump won he dropped to his knees like the spineless bitch that he is. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-romney/romney-potential-u-s-secretary-of-state-hails-trump-after-dinner-idUSKBN13P0A7 He's not dumb. He never drank the koolaid like a lot of the true maga fucktards in congress. There's plenty more he could and should be saying, because he knows where this is all going.

  19. Bullshit. You and Mitt ain’t shifting any fucking blame to the “left” for what’s killing this country. Mitt setting the bar at “let’s not vote for the guy that started a coup” and “let’s defend democracy” doesn’t absolve him of shit. In the great words of Chris Rock, you’re supposed to you dumb motherfucker. Illegal immigration is not killing this country. There was a shit ton more in 2006. Inflation is not killing this country. There was a shit ton more in 1981. Ending the peaceful transfer of power is killing this country. Not convicting a fascist dictator for orchestrating a coup is killing this country. Erasing women’s rights by making up a bullshit “rooted in nations history” standard is killing this country Rejecting gun control is killing this country Banning books is killing this country I wish the left would kill this country. It would mean everyone had healthcare and kids wouldn’t get fucking murdered at school

  23. Boy, I don’t know why, but the Theatre of the Absurd that this last 2 pages has become has entertained me. Just outstanding unintentional trolling by @UTEE97 in that he’s managed to get guys like @Rimbo and at @SydneyCarton singing from the same song sheet. Also, no one could be happier about this direction shift than Fletch. Dude is wiping his brow somewhere.

  27. I know there is deep hatred for the Republican Party, deservingly so given what they’ve done. However, if those on the left continue to just bad mouth moderates who are trying to stand up to their own party, you become complicit in the continuance of the extreme right politics that are killing this country. You may not like him, but he’s doing more to stand up to his own party than anyone else except for Cheney.

  28. Baylor pulls less than 1/3 the tv viewers than Texas waning they are a 1/3 less valuable (and that’s being generous). Despite that the Big 12 tv deal is an aggregate and Baylor pulls in an equal payout as Texas. Back in the day when we had unequal revenue distribution UT/OU (and USC/UCLA) would have received more money equal to their increased value to the conference, but after the 2010 realignment that all went away and everyone went to equal revenue sharing after Nebraska’s bitching. The unintended consequence is that the bluebloods felt unappreciated and were no long satisfied to sit in a weaker conference with a weaker payout while their peer institutions were about to pull in $100 million a year. Had the Big12 or PAC12 realized how beneficial the tv payouts were to the Baylor/Washington States of the conference and how they negatively impacted their blueblood and made adjustments then perhaps this could have been avoided. Instead the lesser members of the conference enjoyed a free decade of big $ payout that they only received because they leached money away from their bluebloods, meanwhile they complained about the LHN and the LA schools wanting additional revenue from the region channel, and now they are pissed that the gravy train is over. Funny enough the very first thing both conferences offer was to provide UT/OU and USC/UCLA more money, there wasn’t a long drawn out discussion as everyone knew they were worth more than they were getting, but at that point the damage was already done, why stay with the conference that knew for a fact that they were underpaying you and complaining about you at the same time for a decade. If you knew UT/OU USC/UCLA we’re key to your entire conference to survive then why treat them like shit. Greed. Which ironically is the same sin they are throwing back at the departing schools on their way out the door.

  29. Y'all need to read this piece by Mitt in The Atlantic https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/07/mitt-romney-republican-denial-biden-election/661468/ President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust. A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable. Congress is particularly disappointing: Our elected officials put a finger in the wind more frequently than they show backbone against it. Too often, Washington demonstrates the maxim that for evil to thrive only requires good men to do nothing.

  31. Well, shit. My DCI corps was/is based in Chicago (Rosemont), and we'd do 3-4 parades every July 4th. Nobody actually LIKED doing the parades, but it was a "return the favor" kind of thing to the Chicago area supporters, and believe me, they provided a lot of $$$ support. Parades are boring, and you feel like cattle trapped in a feedlot. Perfect setting for a mass shooting. My guys did the Niles parade this morning, and were set to work their way up to Morton Grove and Glenview, all of which are just south of Highland Park. The other parades got canceled. Thanks, you fucking gun freaks. A half dozen more dead and a bunch of people weren't able to get out, exhale, and celebrate a country that at this point isn't even fucking worth celebrating.
