  3. Man, y'all even remember two weeks ago when Signalgate was one of the most blatantly stupid actions of the Trump administration, and someone was going to have to face accountability, for realz this time? Such simpler times.

  4. Everyone pointing and laughing at Trump right now is missing the point of the insane amount of money he and his cronies just made with this straight-up market manipulation.

  9. You know, as someone who is very smart and follows trends, I've noticed something after diving hard into information over the last few decades. This Trump guy might not be on the up and up. I know, I know, this sounds like something from the Deep State. But look closely. The cracks are there if you do a deep dive.

  10. Then every news story should say β€œDespite the White House’s claim, no countries have reached out to Trump to reach a deal. The White House was asked to provide evidence in support but refused to do so. Thus, there is no reason to believe that the White House’s claim is true.” Just call them out. Let Trump and Leavitt rant and rave. But make the story about how they are lying, and put them on their heels. Fucking MSM is so pathetic.

  13. Once again, this was a situation in where the top 5-10 in the sport just were not going to leave. They have their programs rolling and at a high level already. Those coaches get whatever they want from their admin already. Other than just the name β€œTexas” there was nothing really to get Oats or Lloyd to leave. You could have *maybe* had Lloyd had Arizona crapped out in the 1st round, but they didn’t. Then combine that with the haul of a recruiting class he has coming in, there was no reason to leave as Arizona basketball gets whatever they want from UA alums/boosters already. Oats already has the commitment from Alabama admin that he was looking for and his happy (I think we could have gotten him 3 years ago, but we went with Terry.) Hurley was never an option. People who mention Jay Wright are showing they are stupid and don’t know anything about college basketball. Donovan wasn’t leaving the NBA to come to college with this generation of college athletics and NIL. Quin Snyder who hasn’t coached in this climate either since 2006 was going to come in a save the day and take Texas to multiple FFs? None of the above names were realistic, and people hyped themselves up into believing that if we didn’t land one of those names that means we aren’t serious about basketball. Jesus Christ. Fucking Todd Golden just won the NC. Did I want a sexier name than Sean Miller? Of course, but I’m happy with Miller because I’ve seen what he’s done. He won’t have the pressure he had at Arizona and he will have more money than he had at Arizona or Xavier. I’m also happy because he’s an actual coach that will have guidance and leadership from the #1 AD in the country, something else he doesn’t have to worry about. This could have been a way worse hire. Miller has support, money, and what appears to be rejuvenation. Let’s see what the fuck he can do before crying like fucking Aggies about everything that doesn’t go the exact way we want it. I don’t remember CDC saying the athletic department has to be ran the way 1 specific fan wants it to be ran.

  14. I have some morbid curiosity about how this is playing out in the real world. I just picture some poor bastard walking around a port with a clipboard like "OK, this container got here yesterday before the afternoon Tweet, so it's at 35%. That one was after the Tweet, so I think it's 105%. This one I think they said is 10%....or was that an extra 10% on top of the old number? Those two were delayed until next week, right? Hold on, let me check Truth Social real quick."

  15. Liucci was born a redass aggie. He lives in College Station. He's never known anything but aggieness, from school to sports to living, it's all the same. Obviously this clearly qualifies him as an expert who can speak to the world about who they are and what they represent and blah blah blah. Yet somehow, this clown also speaks authoritatively about winning coaches, winning players, winning strategies, winning cultures, on and on. He's allowed to do so by the aggie faithful, but that's okay since they're all lemmings and need one of their own to tell them what they want to hear in an unexamined way. On the other hand, how is this guy allowed to speak to the rest of the public and to other media regarding anything on winning? He has no idea, no history, and no background to point him having been close to anything or anyone who knows a damned thing about winning. That infamous tweet was taken seriously by people and retweeted at the time. As if Liucci had any tools for knowing whether Fisher, Williams or Schlossnagle were actually going to be able to win anything at the time. Even now, he has the temerity to respond to the mockery by claiming that he was right at the time. That fucking rube is actually an expert on losing. When he starts predicting, we should start betting on the opposite.

  16. And here comes the EU ... Interestingly, it looks like the EU is taking a more measured approach of trying to fuck with red states as much as they can, which I applaud. And if this is accurate, it's pretty clever:

  17. First comes the commitment, then the right coach, then the culture change. Elko (24-14 overall record as HC. zero conference championships), Bucky (99-52 overall record. zero P4 experience. notable mention from his wikipedia page - "his team posted a 96–83 upset at Belmont on December 5, 2020"), and Early (never been a head coach) have been in college station for a combined two years and five months. Next comes the great enshittening.

  19. Re. My daughter’s experiences. I have learned the SS number mention referenced a file specific to an individual researcher, which is known as an ORCID file. This file contains all of an individual’s published research, all who conduct research have such a file, and the SS number differentiates between two researchers who share the same name. And, yes, the fact that my daughter was employed in a program Republicans have labeled DEI has been added to my daughter’s research file. UT legal came to the conclusion that employing my daughter in another job leaves them vulnerable to the charge that β€œDEI hires” were just shuffled around. M daughter makes clear that she was told this notation in her file will sabotage any interview at a research university. Too bad. So sad. Here is the offending language of the Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) program she was enrolled in: ”The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UT Health San Antonio provides an individualized, diverse and multidisciplinary learning environment for students to develop the knowledge, skills and creativity necessary to succeed in the evolving biomedical disciplines.” Here is a link to UT Health’s PREP program: https://uthscsa.edu/biomedical-sciences/programs/prep

  23. This is easy to type, yet harder to support. The buyout will be huge for a school and AD in financial trouble. The House Settlement isn't going to make things better, either. The act of buying out the HC, who was just extended in the 2024 summertime, his entire staff (which isn't a cheap staff), and then the buyouts for the next staff likely drives the package to north of $30M from a donor base that struggles to compete in NIL already. The pros and cons, as of now, for being the HC at OU are as tilted towards the cons more than any time in college football history. Pros: -winning tradition -national-ish brand -the university and the state care more about winning in football than almost any other priority -proximity to talent rich DFW Cons: -lack of full control over player or coaching personnel (new) -weak NIL/no way to create a competitive advantage with $50,000 bags under the table these days (new) -comparatively weak corporate NIL to rival and other national brands (new) -rivals/semi-rivals are strong in NIL (new) -rebuilding in a powerful conference -location -fanbase patience The project at OU will not be the same as it ever was. Whoever takes over when Venables leaves, whether this cycle or not, will be taking over a roster subjected to terrible S&C concepts. That roster will have recruiting classes that finished in the bottom half of the SEC recruiting rankings repeatedly. The roster will have also been picked clean of most of the actual talent by wealthy rivals and powers. The fanbase will be expecting the new guy to "win now" just like Stoops did in a different era, followed by ebil Lincoln Riley doing the same. It will be awesome to watch.

  25. It seems so long since Roe v Wade was overturned, but here is a reminder of how evil that shit is. Remember how the anti-abortion freaks would put up those giant billboards of aborted fetuses in front of Gregory? Well, I just saw the reverse. A baby that should have never been born, with a condition incompatible with life, due to the mother being unable to get an abortion. In addition to being financially ruined, the mother will be forced to watch her horribly disfigured, mentally non-functional child suffer until what is hopefully an early death. I can't share the inage but it's fucking nightmare fuel. Republicans just out there protecting women and babies.

  37. I think we have permanently damaged the reputation of the United States as a safe place to invest for international investors. I think the strength of the dollar has also eroded as a safe haven. I do not think interest rates are going to be falling anytime soon. Because we are going to have higher inflation. I said back when the President was elected that we would be very, very lucky if we got to 6.25% mortgage rates this Spring on the MMI. I felt we would be closer to 7% because of the inflationary pressures that tariffs cause. This is still the same case as it was in November. We are going to want to borrow a shit ton more money for the big beautiful budget bill and it's not going to be paid for. At the very best it will be "pretend paid for" with some accounting trickery. And we are going to have to pay a higher rate than necessary to fund that. We are not going to get a shit ton of foreign investment in the US because we are not as stable a place to do business as we were 10 days ago. There is a longer term cost to the level of stupidity and simply not accounting for the most obvious results of their policy. They really just did not anticipate the most likely scenario. To me that is fucking scary as shit, from the folks running the USA Corporation. Now it's just going to be more of a slow motion roll out of stupidity. And for me... that is sort of hard for me to bet on long at this point. I also think the only reason we are not staring at the cliff, is some fiscal conservative house member was not going to vote to add a shit ton of debt in this environment. So kick the can down the road, get out of the house, then back to math that simply does not add up.
