  1. My sweet Lord. Reading the thread since the Muschamp hiring is borderline exhausting. Some of the hawtest takes on this recruiting board, ever, on here between pages 45 and 48. I was quoting posts at first and by the time I reached 20, I just deleted them all, said “fuck it” and made myself a rye manhattan. If you can’t be excited by the Muschamp hire and all that that implies, wow. PK did really well, but he basically recused himself from having to be involved with talent evaluations and was regularly pining to get back to the west coast. Muschamp had agreed to take the DC role when Sarkisian was hired and helped handpick the staff. His wife stunned everyone and refused to agree to moving back to Austin. She loves Austin and returns several times a year to visit with friends and shop. She didn’t want to leave while the kids were in college. So Muschamp had to bow out. PK was a great back up, but Muschamp is who Sarkisian wanted from the jump. Muschamp is hands on with talent evaluation, with all of the game planning, has deep knowledge of the Georgia nemesis, endless energy, and will never be a yes man. He will tell Sarkisian straight up when he thinks he’s fucking up. The guy used to eat Greg Davis alive, in front of Mack Brown.

  2. Salute to PK. The first two years were a bit of a rollercoaster, but the 2024 Texas defense is one of the best in program history.

  3. what in the motherfuck?? don't hate having muschamp back, but PK most certainly did not deserve to be fired.

  4. My only concern is that our D might be too good next year. What if other teams can't stay on the field long enough to give our offense a rest?

  5. A player who shows up every time we play one of our rivals, willing to stick it out despite the staff looking to recruit someone better Still reasons to love college ball. Some players just want to be a Longhorn.

  7. Our back end has not been in sync with our front under PK. He’s very conservative and great against the run, but he’s clueless as to how to tie the back to the front. Gary Patterson fixed that a little. There’s a reason he had a co-DC at Washington. Will is the best DC in America. He was always the first choice. PK was far from the biggest problem we had, but this move makes our team better. Will will raise absolute hell with this roster. The havoc plays will explode. I understand the confusion, but this is a huge net positive. Now fix the OL and we’re in business.

  14. FCB Florida running back Jadan Baugh, who rushed for 1,170 yards (5.3 ypc) and eight touchdowns as a sophomore for the Gators this past season, is expected to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2, agent sources tell Horns247. Look for Texas to be a player in the Baugh sweepstakes.

  15. Wow. Glad to see PK gone. Although I would have guessed it was for a HC job.

  16. For those of you who love medieval history--and I know that you do--it's impossible not to see the parallels with the English wool export tax of Edward III. By the 14th Century, it was well established that if the king wanted to raise revenues from any kind of direct taxation, he had to obtain the approval of Parliament. And Parliament wasn't excited about imposing new taxes to enable Edward III to assert his claims to the French crown. So Edward imposed new taxes on the export of English wool. His successors then increased that tax. That brought in a fuckton of money that was completely outside the control of Parliament. By the reign of Henry V, it was nearly 2/3rds of the Crown's revenue. And that tax alone allowed the Crown to prosecute the Hundred Years War and brought the famous victories at Crecy, Poitiers, and Agincourt. It was, in modern terms, a slush fund for the English king to prosecute his military adventures in France. So yeah--if you don't see a danger in the executive imposing tariffs independent of congressional authorization that give it revenue that it can use to fund military adventurism without congressional approval, I'd really encourage you to read more history.

  18. PK was a significant upgrade from Todd Orlando and Chris Ash for crying out loud. But dammit he was not what we needed to kick ass on D in the SEC. PK had his moments where he looked brilliant in SEC play mainly against OU and aggy for some strange reasons. But just rewind to the fricken Florida and MSU games this fall where the D looked like complete dog shit (to complement the crappy offense) against dog shit teams. This is not too forget to mention how we were whipped physically on defense against UGA this year as well as twice last year although we looked better against UGA in the SEC 'ship. Those games along with the UK game is what the idiotic playoff committee held over our heads and is why we are preparing for Michigan in two weeks and not James Madison, Bama, OU or Tulane at home this weekend. Let's not forget how we almost let little Napoleon and Vandy back into what should've been a blow out game which justified the playoff committee and some of the media pollsters to keep Vandy close on our heels or even put them over us in all the playoff chatter. To put it in Ford 150 trims Orlando and Ash were Ford Custom or XL trims pre 1990's when you could get a Ford XL without carpet, with vinyl seats and no A/C and an AM Radio ( yes I am that old) PK was an XLT or Lariat Model (current generation) We need a King Ranch or Platinum level trim package DC at the helm if we are going to be serious contender year in and year out in the SEC. I'll give Sark full credit for knowing this one of the two key pieces he needs to make elite in order to not only win the SEC, but dominate the damn conference. Now he needs to do the same for the O-line at very least if not handing over the OC duties to someone just as respected in the football world who has no ambitions to return to Head Coaching or is content on being the best in that aspect of the game as position coach and/or coordinator. Muschamp knows the SEC inside and out. Sign me up!

  25. Sigh. We are the kings of "death by 1,000 cuts," and we defend that approach to the fucking death, because we are very, very bad at math. Which makes sense, as among the many things that we've decided have no value is public education. What percentage of the middle class income is spent on things that are included in the "one payment covers all" that most western European nations provide its citizens? Yeah, our base price is cheap. But when we have to pay a la carte for everything else that they get in a prix fixe menu, we are getting fucked. WHY? Because we are paying for systems designed to deliver profit to billionaires, not service to customers. And I have no problem with profits and free enterprise. It's just stupid that some base public goods are more expensive because we chose not to make them elements of "the public good," but rather profit centers for oligarchs. We're a lot closer to Russia than we are to Denmark, and the difference is getting more stark every day, particularly under this regime. Well-done, America. We continue to ram a dildo up our own ass while we shout about how much we're winning.

  28. @Hank_Hill and @TrashMaster G, I saw you each gave me negative reps for trashing Coach Sark. Hey, I'm in a little bit of situation here at Surly Horns, due to my posts and some stupid, innaccurate misunderstanding about some missing money. It's really not a big deal, and it's not even that much money that I lost, and there's no reason to look into the situation, 'cause there's nothing going on. Anyways, if you guys could each give me around 25 likes, that would be really great and help me with my current situation. We're a family!
