Every team is the land is pointing to Sam as Texas' leading rusher and our OL issues.

Well maybe that is because we don't have an Evans or Bijan?  I don't see the OL issues continuing this year barring injuries.

Spoke with Vernon Broughton a few minutes ago. Broughton finished up his fifth and final visit to A&M yesterday and said in the next week or two, he'll sit down with his family and come to a decision. Texas is in his final grouping and the Longhorns helped their chances with a recent unofficial visit that Broughton took, but as it stands right now I just don't see that one falling UT's way. Broughton did say he's genuinely undecided so there's still time for some movement here, but my gut right now would be on A&M after they got the last visit, or maybe Ohio State as a wildcard pick.

Houston C.E. King safety Bryson Washington continues to work towards a decision on July 4 between Texas and OU. The Longhorns hosted him on an official visit this weekend and Washington raved about the visit and what a degree from Texas can do for a person long-term. He also said Craig Naivar is his favorite recruiter. This one's very close and Washington swears that it's about 50/50. The Texas visit went well and I've heard there's some confidence there, but my gut still says it's going to be OU based on what I'm hearing this afternoon.

CB Joshua Eaton had originally planned to take the recruiting process all the way until signing day but he told me today that he's now going to be committing in early August. Eaton has a top five that includes Texas but told me he has only one official visit set up ... to A&M. If he's committing in August and has an official visit set up for after that commitment date, that's usually a pretty good indicator of where things are trending.

2021 CB Tony Grimes looks like a million bucks. He visited A&M, OU and Texas last week (Texas for the Heat Wave) and couldn't stop smiling when he and I were talking about UT and Jason Washington. Grimes said he liked Texas so much he might come back in late July, possibly for the Stars at Night camp.

J.J. Hester told me about a month ago that Texas was on top of his list and he confirmed that news again today. Michigan and Baylor are among the other schools that are high on Hester's list, but Texas is the team to beat right now. He keeps in close contact with Drew Mehringer. No firm timeline on a decision ... he said he could just do it when it hits him, or he might take all five official visits.

Radcliff (KY) North Hardin defensive tackle Octavious Oxendine took an unofficial visit to UT over the weekend and said he had a great time. He got a lot of time talking to Oscar Giles, picked up a Texas offer and said he'll probably be back in the fall for an official visit.

WR Mookie Cooper has been trying to get back to Austin but his plans have been falling through. He said he'll try again after the dead period. He also said Texas will definitely get an official visit in the fall. Cooper just came off a USC visit and said it went well. Though he technically has a top five, Cooper told me he really has two schools in his head on which he's focused right now. Not sure if Texas is in that final two, but I get the sense the Longhorns have ground to make up.

Like Michigan or USC, people won’t believe we’re back until we force them to. A lot of people don’t want to see an Elite Texas unit again.

Doesn’t Broughton work with FWK?  He recently posted everybody wanting to play for Jimbo.Â ï»żï»ż

Yeah. when FWK got involved in his "training", that's when the 247 recruit people started talking about things changing in Broughton's recruitment behind the scenes and other random things.

This would be an interesting time to start trusting Rivals over the other three Texas sites. I can buy Broughton being an A&M lean, and maybe we didn't do what we needed to with Bijan, but the Washington stuff is really out there considering every other Horns site think Washington is now a Texas lean, to the point that even OU sites are hedging.

Suchomel is 100% going off of in person interviews right now. In regards to Bijan, Washington, and Broughton, sometimes kids are experts at not giving much away after they've been highly regarded prospects for awhile, and I'm hoping that Suchomel is just misreading them

This isn't hard: the Georgia victory was undercut by a second season-opening loss to fucking Maryland.  We have to put together a full season, replete with a few blowouts and stomping the knob-gobblers in the Big 12 championship.

Or Texas is just getting its ass kicked right now, and had no idea

In hindsight, maybe Drayton’s pitch to Bijan should have been something other than, “Look at how awesome it was at Ohio State when I coached Ezekiel Elliott! Picture yourself as the next Zeke.”

His pitch is more like "Go ask Zeke. Playing CFB is not fun, I'm not here to be your friend and will grind the shit out of you while talking to you like you are a 30yr old. I don't care if you like me but you will respect me and if you go through it you will be successful in life..."

Yep. Still not sure how he failed to deliver Shep to bcs, it was not for a lack of effort.

There was a possibility about a month ago that Broughton wouldn't even give aggy an official visit.  I really don't think he's going to end up there.  Aggy wouldn't be able stay quiet if they truly led.  CBs would be coming in left and right.  If he does, I'm done with Giles and CDC needs to step in at some point and let Herman know he's got lot of dead weight on this staff.  Drayton should not be coaching here.  The guy was gift wrapped Keontay Ingram and has not done shit since then.  Has whiffed on every fucking RB that's shown us interest.  I have no idea what happened between Milton and Evans, but they seem to hate UT now.  Not sure how that happens.

Coach Drayton, that is a lucid, intelligent, well-thought out pitch.

Thank you, young man.

So, anyway, I’m going to college somewhere else.  But I’ll call you when I need help diversifying my bonds and shit.

when it comes to diversifying bonds and shit these guys are the best.

He, Giles, Meh and TO are likely to have quite a few "respected friends" playing CFB all over the country. Guess they like it better than being Warehime and having zero friends.

Is there any reason to think Bijan to OSU other than Suchomel's "hunch" from hearing Bijan talk about schools? If not I don't know why people are so down on that one. Plenty of other articles have said UT feels confident, including 2 CBs (vs. 1 for OSU).

These same sources were also saying last week than USC was the bigger threat than OSU. Basically, I don't think they have a clue

Suchomel in response to those questioning his Broughton info, basically saying he heard off the record that Texas isn't landing him

I realize it's not the news you all want, but not sure why you'd doubt me after I just spent time talking to him, on and off the record.

Fong comment regarding Robinson: "Sources around Texas like their position with Robinson. Smoke was strong yesterday around OSU (going back to his official) and growing with other sources."

Roach comment at 2:50 PM: "I did some digging on Robinson and will have something in Mike at Night. Short story, I've heard nothing but rumors and guesses so far. At this point, I'm not willing to come off of my crystal ball [currently set on UT]."

Boughton is not on the record or he would quote him directly.  If it's Boughton off the record and Suchomel is revealing what Boughton told him off the record then he is the worst and should never be trusted in the industry again.  If it's a third party off the record that could be coming from anyone including a recruit committed to another school like Demas who may be misreading tea leaves or someone interested in putting that story out there right now like a non-Texas assistant coach or it could be from someone with a direct tie-in with Broughton.  Who the fuck knows.  Surely not the bullshit $9.95 con artists.
